Whats kinda funny is that before the sequel was ever announced, that ending just cut off when timmy was just siezing on the floor like that, and then it cut to credits. So, back then, that was supposed to be the bad end, but since they’re making a sequel, they turned their bad end into the canon end by partially retconning what happened before.
Well it was also due to the backlash from the community. You spend all this time trying to save your son only for it to not matter TWICE. You first find your son dead in the iron maiden machine and then once you have killed another innocent child you then lose him at the live show from him turning into a monster. So yeah, the ending leaves it open for the Sons of the Forest but also because The Forest was getting bad reviews just for (at the time) crappy ending.
I mean, they didn't retcon anything. They left it at a cliffhanger. Probably on purpose because if they were able to do a sequel, they wanted that to potentially be an option. Also, the canon ending is still the "bad ending" because the dad sacrifices a plane of people and three kids to save his one child. The good ending is still shutting it down.
I swear that's not right..
@@Evelyn-qt3hi I mean they did retcon it, as the seizure on the floor cutting to credits from before heavily implies that what happened to the girl is what was going to happen to the kid (turning into a monster). But now that they’re doing a sequel they had to retcon it and make it to where the kid doesn’t turn into a monster
@@ODSTD56 man you put your child in a mystery device in a lab thats known for experimenting people and turning them to monsters, its a lot more bullshit for him not to die or turn into a monster. If i remember correctly megan used it and she turned into some weird spider shit, timmy not being affected would be stupid plot armor.
25:00 technically good personally, and canon, but bad ethically. Cause you basically did what the antagonist of the game did, but saved your child, but also doomed him to basically being on the edge of being a monster for his life.

and the shutdown ending is the good ending because the plane ending, it all goes in a whole loop
Tbh, this is my favorite ending. It shows that even though people saw the effects of what happened with the other child, they still try to save their own - even though again they saw the effects and how the kid turned into a monster. They repeat the cycle and its selfish. I get people are mad that Timmy over here nearly turns but like instead of moving on they're the reason it happened. I understand that it sucks to endure the entire game for "nothing" but its not really nothing. It's about the sacrifice hence the important choice at the end. Idk, I love this game so much!

Literally bought this game few months ago on sale with my brother and played it together online We thought that it would just be a survival game where you try to survive in an island full of cannibals but we were so wrong and after exploring the story we were so invested in it and we found out right after finishing the game that sons of the forest is also gonna come out.

I like that you can keep playing the game after you complete the story bcos there are still *tons* of things left for them to do in the game, i.e.: - explore the alternate ending - mess around with traps - explore other building options like treehouses, ziplines and cranes, etc

I hope the sequel game keeps all the great features from the first, i.e.: - the weapons - the traps - the building blueprints - items, sleds and holders for better storage/ more inventory, etc, and just improves everything else, i.e: - making shelves acc useful - adding more build options (like Grounded), etc.
May 20 is near, so hype to see the gang play it by series too 👌
