  • Heres a bunch of passives I came up with for the fun of it. Rifleman -- 20% extra primary and secondary ammo Heavy Weapons Team -- 30% faster reload or cooling on support weapons Bio Warfare Set -- take 95% reduced damage from gas, and 75% less damage from acid Ragdoll set -- when you get ragdolled you are immune to ragdolls/stuns until 1 second after your recovery // or recovery time is faster Fire Armor -- Reduce fire damage taken by 60-75% Demolition Set -- +2 grenades + 50% damage reduction from explosions SuperStims -- +2 seconds to stim effect, when stim effects are being applied you are immune to stagger and ragdoll effects Polar Patriot -- you only take 25% of the effect of deep snow slow and blizzard slow effects Night Warrior -- with a push of a button you activate thermal vision, this will help you see through fog, smoke screens, or in the dark. heat vents and weak points will glow red hot. ====== Obviously these will have to be play tested for balancing, but to me theres heaps of possible passives they could add to the game, one thing they could do is make the armor have passive slots, where you can mix and match effects, and especially strong ones take up both slots. Or they could allow recoloring of armor/capes to a degree. At the moment I'm either picking extra grenades or extra stims, and extra stims is the obvious choice much of the time.

  • Devs won't allow transmog (giving one armor the effects of another one while keeping it's effects) or because armor "is supposed to be unique" or some shit, while dropping the same armor three times per weight class

  • The various "kits" need to be interchangeable so we can just pick a suit we like the aesthetics of in the heaviness of our liking and slap the desired armor effect we want. That would be at least one step in the right direction imo.

    • ​@johnnybgoode8104 read his comment again. Pick the armor of the "heaviness" you want. So like pick a Light Armor, and put the desired kit on it. That isn't transmog. It would still have light armor attributes.

    • @@johnnybgoode8104 It wouldn't be like that. It would be: Pick Light, Medium or Heavy armor and then select the Scout, Engineer or Servo Assist, so on and so forth, and slap it on the armor type you prefer.

    • @@Drunken_Hamster It isn't a transmog though. It's literally the creation of a new Gear Slot and then treating the various armor kits as equipable gear for that slot. Nothing visual changes, all the mechanics are in place for the armors now they just need to be made interchangeable via a static slot.

  • Armor should have a loadout for each category. You choose armor type, then the look and then use different loadouts giving different stats and abilities, which can be unlockable like stratagems. While at it, having a talent tree to define your Helldiver more, making it more diverse, rather than every just unlocking all modules and stratagems.

  • ARMOR that You can give pulses of shockwaves when the bugs are gangbanging you ARMOR fireproof so you can work with a flamethrower most assuredly ARMOR prevents you from slowing down when you go through plants or touch their slows down and stuff ARMOR which comes with 3 extra hand grenades and they are fixed by type and in addition to the 3 hand grenades that come with armor ARMOR which allows you to perform a diving jump for a greater distance to allow you to avoid stressful situations. I run the B-08 LIGHT GUNNER armor Armor rating - 100 Speed- 550 Stamina regen 125 Armor passive- provides a HIGHER ARMOR RATING I run the map like a toyota supra

  • I say there should be a pool of armors for light, medium and heavy that could be paired with a passive of your choice. The passive ability itself should be a visible addition to the armor like a small additional gadget hanging on your arm or an additional layer of armor. Furthermore specific armors like the new arctic ones could have little bonus effects attached to them like ice spikes. Especially with the devs "anti-meta"-philosophy i dont understand why armor cant be customized in any way because it often leads to people wearing the same armor over and over again when they find the best (or least worst) looking one with the best effect attached to it.

  • Passives for Helmets (Some may seem OP but anywho) Scout - Every 10s, creates a radar burst which grants the user x-ray of the enemies for a short period of time Med-kit - Shows teammates health above their character Engineering Kit - Grenades knock back enemies more Electrical Conduit - (Armour now gives 70% arc resistance) Helmet provides 25% Arc Resistance Servo Assisted - Shows a visual representation of where your grenades / stratagems will go when you throw them Fortified - Knockback by explosions are reduced Extra Padding - Reduces Headshot damage by 50% Democracy Protects - Adds a further 10% Chance to not die when taking lethal damage Custom Passives (H = Helmet Passive) Fire Retardant - Provides 50% resistance to fire damage (H) Fire Retardant - Provides 25% Resistance to fire damage Body Builder - Provides 50% Resistance to environmental and (E.g. Can walk during earthquakes) (H) Body Builder - Provides 25% Resistance to slowing effects Brawler - Provides 350% more damage when meleeing and staggers enemies for longer (H) Brawler - Diving into enemies deals damage and staggers them Gun Nut - Primary Ammo Reserves increased by 30%, Secondary Reserves Increased by 50% (Grenade Pistol S++++++++++++) (H) Gun Nut - 30% Increased Reload Speed for all weapons Deflector - Provides 50% Damage resistance to laser damage (H) Deflector - Laser fire has a 15% chance to bounce back Powerhouse - Provides 50% Damage resistance to melee attacks (H) Powerhouse - Melee attacks have a 15% Chance to stagger enemies when enemies attack (Ofc this would be very small for chargers) Adept Swimmer - You can swim in water 100% Faster (H) Adept Swimmer - You can hold your breath 250% longer while swimming A lot of these I have just came up with so I didn't have proper time to think about them.   • Heavier armor providing 1 -2 more mags would be a fantastic incentive to run it without interfering with grenade or stim armor perks already. I'd build around more mags if they did this.

  • I feel that heavy armour needs to deflect all crit damage and makes it so you can survive an actual swarm patrol series of hits (e.g. 10 hunter hits or 5 stalker hits)

    • You actually can if you stim, since nothing one shots you. If you build around the heavy armor with the med-kit perk, and run the ammo backpack, you can basically just allow yourself to take one hit from a scavenger before stimming and then tanking everything else for a few seconds. This is super useful if you run anything with a reload where you take a knee, because you can stim and then reload and you will survive the reload 90% of the time (the 2 things that can still 1-shot are bile spitting (sometimes) and charger/bile titan stomps). I tested this only on bugs unfortunately.

    • @@dekeaustin Just play smart about it. Let a tiny bug hit you before the rest of the swarm reaches you, then stim and reload immediately after. The swarm won't be able to kill you as long as there isn't more than 1 bile spewer.

  • The downside of heavy armor is the speed, so i only really run it on eradicate (not blitz) and defend the generator missions. It allows for survivability when you don't have much room to move around

  • It needs what the devs literally said they'd never do, and THEN some. *Light armor* should, by default, also improve reload speed and switch speed, and maybe even weapon handling, too, since you're generally less encumbered *Heavy armor* should, by default, also give you flinch resistance and more ammo, stim, and grenade-carrying capacity (like +1, separately from the engineer perk or medic perks) *Medium armor* should, by default, let you pick 1 of any of those, then possibly give you some other kind of unique benefit On top of that, all armor should let you have 2 perk slots that you can put almost any combo of perks into. If you pick synergistic combos IE the full Engineering kit combo, then you get a tertiary bonus, as well. For example, an engineering kit would make terminals load faster and allow you to reprogram enemy mines or something to work for you. They should also add a ship module that allows you to upgrade your armor perk slot count to 3. Lastly, servo-assisted armors need a rework in how they function, because they should do a LOT more than just throwing force and limb damage resistance. Maybe have Servo Assisted be a long-term upgrade path for Helldivers in general, kinda like how it is in Titanfall 2. Or use my synnergy idea from above, but add weight-class specific "Servo-Assisted" synnergy tertiary bonuses IE with heavy armor, a full Servo-Assisted perk set would give you faster run speed, strength, and more stamina, which would stack with any boosters selected by the squad. Additionally, "Hellpod space optimization" should become a ship module instead of a booster. I mean, they have superior packing methodology as well as 2 other upgrades regarding ammo for planetside stratagems/pods (IE sentries, emplacements, weapons, etc), and like 3-4 other ones regarding ammo in general (for the ship/eagle-1). Doesn't make sense that being able to drop with full equipment loadout would be a booster instead of a ship upgrade that applies to every mission by default once unlocked.

  • I feel like heavier armor shouldn't have less stamina, or not nearly this much. You are already slower so you get less out of your stamina. Armor values are fine, heavy armor is great against automatons, but it feels bad to play because you are out of breath all the time.

  • I’d like to keep light, medium, and heavy levels BUT we have perk slots we can add attachments to. This way we can choose the look we like and have the skill we want. The perks also need to be substantially different, as you said.

  • I think that they should implement equipement weight as a mechanic, kinda in a way souls games do that. Everything you have equipped adds weihgt, your primary, secondary, support weapon, backpack, armor. The more weight you carry - the slower you are. Maybe you even have different animations after some thresholds. It will add more build variety and solve not only some armor, but also primary weapon problems. You can make lighter weapons pack less of a punch, but they will still be useful, cause you can more easily fit them in your build. If you want too zoom around the map you can play in light armor with an SMG and nothing else. Or you carry the heaviest armor, dominator and recoilless with a rocket backpack, you have a lot of firepower, can deal with anything even without your stratagems and can tank most of the hits. The downside, ofc, is that you're too slow to run away if you're pinned down. Ofc we still need better armor passives, and even better if you could mix them. Like have 1 big passive tied to a specific armor set, and then additionaly select 2 - 3 secondary passives from a big pool.

  • Agreed about the lack of passives on new warbonds. Also I rarely see anyone running arc armor, if they would buff it to 100% arc resistance plus being able for the tesla tower to use your armor to link arc shots it would be pretty awesome. That would make more players use arc armors AND tesla towers in a funtional way. And i don't think that would become meta as you would still need something else for elites or big hordes.

  • I think you should add a planet debuff and for example the polar warbond armours should negate the frost planets debuff , plus the main passive that you have right now

  • I agree armor needs some kind of rework. Unfortunately I foresee them rebalancing this in a hamfisted way like restricting passives to armor classes. It would suck to see 50% explosive reduction limited to heavy armor and that be the only thing they do.

  • With the recent change to headshots only being dealt to light armor, the different stats on the light armors get very confusing. The titan set, for instance, has like 80 armor value and reduced speed as light, yet still gets headshots (and it costs super credits)

  • There needs to be an armor set the enhances weapon handling by 30-40%. It would incentives players to use bulkier weapons.

  • a semi balance if they really care about visuals of the armor then + one slot for a passive that players want to use to buff themselves. like the armor with extra padding - let it keep the padding passive for it to be visually consistent. but let the armor have a slot to add another "booster" passive a middle ground between customization and visual consistency that the game designer wants. so fortified to reduce explosion damage stays but the passive to crouch and reduce recoil on guns might be taken out to be it's own passive people can add to any armor. though other issue is that the devs dont want to lean in to player class system and would move players to "need" to have a certain team composition of specific classes ?

  • I want to see helmets modify the stats slightly- I’d like a helmet that adds 5 armor, minus whatever to stam and regen, to cross into the “headshot protection” armor range on a standard medium armor

  • I genually believe that specially long time gamers who played many games over a long period of time, do understand what games need to be more fun and more complete . the things you mentioned in the video highlights some of the things that make the game incompete , and i agree with what many say about it should be oriented more about the fun and not just the balance . a point you mentioned before annoyes me a lot , the way the spowen enemies should be reduced way more , and they could balance the enemies by making them more agrassive or add some varients or make them move in smarter formations. I think simply the demand for making the weapons stronger is not the best way ( even though it is annoying to see the tenderizer vs liberator among other weapons not on bar with others ).

  • Heavy armor is getting there with the small buffs. Been running the kodiak against bots the last few days and i swear it feels like a big difference compared to something with the same passive in medium or light armor. Its almost like heavy armor now just needs a lot more stagger/ragdoll resistance.

The Polar Patriot armor (prefix CW) needed to have something to do with cold weather planets, like not sliding on ice, not being hampered by blizzards, able to see thermal signatures on the cold planets, something The helmets need to have traits that support the body armor trait/theme The lead dev confirmed on the Discord that helmets were supposed to do something, like the Medic helmet showing teammate health by looking at them, the Scout helmet showing enemy outlines within a certain distance, etc but they ran out of time before launch. So there's always a chance.

    • @@enishiyukishiro6751 Helmets should have the same armor as the body armor they are matched or mix and match for benefits at trade offs like turn speed or light helmet with hvy armor your not as slow as if you was in full hvy and hvy helmet with light armor the opposite tank head shots but slightly slower

    • I think 100 armor doesn't get the headshot damage reduction but 150 armor gives takes it from 1.5x damage to about 1.17x from what I can tell

  • I think player headshot damage in general should be removed because it makes enemy damage inconsistent and is about 95% out of your control. Stagger/ragdoll resistance too, if your lack of speed keeps you from escaping attacks at least make it so they don't interrupt stims. It's also worth noting that if they ever add something like the healing drone from HD1 that gives passive healing it would increase the effectiveness of heavy armor more than others.

  • Here are some Batshit Insane ideas... -Gain temporary health equal to 70% of lost health, but lose more health after the temporary health has decayed. -Allows helldiver to Explode Themselves to kill enemies nearby. Has a chance to explode prematurely when taking damage any form of damage. -Stay still for 2 seconds to activate optical camoflage, reduce detection range by 90%. No effect while moving. -Allows players to climb slightly taller terrain/structures. Long animation is required to execute this move. -Disable ragdolling while diving manually. Allows player to recover from ragdoll even when the body is not completely still, but ragdolling at low speed. -Increase damage by 100% while in complete stealth. Only works when there are no enemies are in the alerted state - meaning if there is any enemy investigating the noise u made, this passive won't work. -Increased melee strength, stagger, and damage by 100%, allowing you to slap small, medium enemies, and other helldivers an impressive distance away from you. Melee attacks now cost 10% stamina on each use. -Further increase the chance of enemies stopping pursuit upon losing LOS -Patrols spawned for the player wearing this armour would not walk towards the player's location directly.

  • I absolutely adore this game! I've not had as much fun in a very long time. That being said I feel like it's been released in a very unfinished state. I want to see helldivers to achieve perfection but so much has been left out. There are what, five different bonuses for armors and maybe 30 different armors in total. Then the fact that helmets and capes have absolutely no point besides cosmetic purposes. I really want to have hope that things will improve but after hearing about the devs going on vacation during all that's happened this past week, it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

  • All the warbonds have been a disappointment in terms of armor and passives. Nothing interesting when they had the perfect opportunity to shake things up.

  • The explosive resistance should be buffed seems to only work when prone or noticeable while prone. Flakjacket should be able to tank at least 1-3 (non nuke) explosions in a row while standing/running. Plus hvy armor now I think should take triple the amount of hits it can tank right now even survive 1 stomp from a charger/titan

  • A set of Heavy Armor that comes with a robot arm to quick reload backpack weapon ammo (Autocannon and such) around 30% faster Helmet abilities enhance vision in fog increase damage by 10% depend on the helmet of course Fire Resistant Armor: Flame thrower hulk anyone..........HELLLMIRE!!!!!!! And I also wanted this for the longest time: Layered armor set. Some of the armor/helmet/ cape set are cool wish it works with my build Also Energy Shield or dual wielding SMG when using the 1 handed SMG

  • I like the idea of heavier armors adding ammo/supplies but personally I'd much prefer they just make you actually hard to kill. maybe increased ammo as a passive, and also make it apply to support weapons in that case? If they are really that scared of making players too tanky they could let heavy armor have 2 passives instead of the usual 1, provided they ever let you pick armor passives that is.

    • @@Crazymrpipz I agree that only having cosmetic armor would hurt buildcrafting. So, I would propose that for the looks, each warbound would unlock skins. But we do need more dept, right now it feels like everything is the same. Imagine having a base system, were you add mods to your armor and that affects the weight and how you play. For example: Add extra protection, but that ads more weight and your armor is then at minimum mid or heavy. Add extra grenades? Same Combine extra stims with grenades, etc. We could even get a system were we can use materials to imrpove our armor. Right now materials are useless after a while. What about lvl the mods? 50 rares? Level a passive so you can carry 3 extra grenades instead of one, etc. Not sure about the ideal solution, keep it as simple as possible to be the best fps experience based on skill? Or add more dept to be closer to something like the division?

  • About heavy armor: I only play fortified commando, the 200 armor set. Usually, no matter vs bots or bugs, I have the least amount of deaths in the team. I also sometimes do solo helldive, in this exact armor set. Heavy armor works, even with headshots I can survive A LOT more hits. Stalker's tentacle attack does like 1/7 of my hp, I'm not only not afraid when I see one, I just laugh as they try to kill me. The problem with heavy armor is that runnung from enemies is too effective of a strategy. With light armor you can just ignore most of the enemies, and you don't even get anything for killing them, so evading the fight is the right play most of the time. Also vs bugs light armor is a better choice since bugs have to catch up to you to deal damage, so kiting is extremely effective. Vs bots, on the other hand, I would argue that heavy armor is the better choice, even better than running shield bp (which is, funny enough, proved to be more effective vs bugs).

    • @@Crazymrpipz you speak as if you get ONLY headshots, but in reality you get them 1 time out of 5 at best (or should I say at worst?). Getting even 2 headshots in a row is a thing that happens to me maybe once a week. So no, I didn't mean that you can survive a lot more headshots, I said HITS.

  • I believe that the new warbond was supposed to have a new perk because an armors perk is based on what the two letters before the numbers say (CE = Combat Engineer) but in the new warbond all of the armors have CW similar to the EX from the cutting edge warbond which also had a new perk being the reduced electric damage one. I’m not sure what happened but I don’t think they would have the CW tag there without a new perk.

  • In warbonds: no "duplicates" in terms of affix and "class" (L/M/H). In steeled veterans all armors got the same affix -> servo assisted. BUT 2 are medium and 1 is heavy... why no light? I like the idea of one affix in on all the armors in a warbond when its thematic. but if all 3 armors share the affix, go for one of each "class". give each armor class a stronger identity: Light: the speedy one Medium: more ammo and/or nade and/or stim - I dont want it to be a middle ground but its own feel Heavy: the tanky one. make it actually tanky the light armors got some variety in terms of armor / speed / stamina regen( some have 64 /536/118 and others got 50/550/125)... why no slight differences in medium or heavy?

    • @@dekeaustin Yeah I started running the Shield Pack recently against the Bugs because they are truly annoying buggers. But against the Automatons I run the Supply Pack so I can have plenty of stun grenades, stims and most importantly ammo for my Anti-Material Rifle that is super strong against all bots. I often give ammo to my teammates as well.

  • I disagree, heavy armor is actually super good. Nothing can one shot you in heavy armor except for only a few things, so if you stim before taking damage, you can survive crowds of enemies on top of you. If i run the heavy machine gun with heavy med-kit armor, a stim can last the entire reload, so i can reload while a crowd is attacking me and i won't die. This is bugs tho, i dont really run it much on bots. It definitely needs a buff, but its viable on certain mission types if you're smart with your stims

    • @@dekeaustin learn how to manage your stims better, you won't die if you stim before taking damage. If you're taking too much damage to stim, let a small bug hit you ahead of time if you forsee a situation where you'll get swarmed or if u need to reload soon. I have footage on my channel of me surviving in heavy armor in these situations. I normally play on 7, sometimes I play on 8 or 9.

  • Rework? Absolutely not. New/More passives? Absolutely. Armor has been improved considerably since release. 1: Heavy armor and medium armor got a built in damage reduction that is a flat %. 2: Any armor with an armor rating over 100(Not 100 exactly, but more than 100) gets damage res vs head shots. Speaking as somebody who never uses light armor, I rarely die and I only play on 7- 9 difficultys. I never use light armor, its worthless. I use heavy the vast majority of the time, regardless of bots or bugs its still great. If im not running heavy, im running medium armor with the padded passive. If you are getting wrecked in Heavy/Medium, thats undeniably a skill issue. So, keep running you light armor wearing coward, Im reporting you to the democracy officer.
