Relive my adventures as I try to set the FKT on the 7800km bikepacking route that is the European Divide trail. Maciek Tomiczek has done a wonderful job stitching together my sporadic gopro footage with a couple of flying visits from local filmakers into an incredible bit of art so sit back and enjoy the ride.
With thanks to all my supporters.

Should've gone for a run afterwards, to make the world's longest triathlon.
Fantastic..... Although I could have watched this for hours. 20 minutes is just not long enough! Well done...
you can blame that on the fact I lost a bag of SD cards......... :(

WOW! Amazing film and incredible performance! I had to do the math and it's an average of 244km a day... That is insane!
I can't begin to understand how this works metabolically. How can the body sustain such immense energy output and do the repair work with so little rest? It's shocking. This is very impressive. I really don't like the speed element of it at all, but I guess that's the endurance element of it. I just came back from a 2,060 km solo trip with an average of 108 km/day pretty much exclusively on asphalt (but including crossing the Ardennes, Schwarzwald and the Alps at Großglockner) and I concluded that the whole thing was just too fast for me. Too much cycling, too little sightseeing. Massive congrats to Angus, I can see the appeal in it, but I think my next ride will probably average around 80 km/day to hit the right balance for me.
@@viktorvolaric-horvat5190 Check the records for the Race Across America - 4800km in 8-12 days. They sleep for 90minutes a day. Incredible what humans are capable of!
Can't add anything more. Incredible achievement. I was crew chief to a solo RAAM ride so I have seen how tough it is to ride 16-20 hour days fully supported for a week, so to do it solo for a month is mindblowing. The video too is incredibly well edited to capture the essence of this month long epic in 20 minutes...bravo!
you are an inspiration brother, I've been living in the forest in Australia for the past few months, biking everyday to University and back (it's around a 50km - 80km round trip depending on where i am camped for the night) in an effort to 'train' myself for an epic endurance ride in Europe! I hope to one day achieve something even mildly as astonishing as your absolutely legendary achievement. Thanks for sharing brother! i wish you all the best in life!
whaaat, that’s epic, which city/ uni ? if you don’t mind me asking
Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment! When I rode the EDT a little later in the year, seeing you complete it in such a short time while I was still in the early stages was a huge inspiration, but it also felt surreal. I know firsthand how difficult it is, so hats off to you!
glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations on your tour, how long did it take you? I just completed the eurovelo 8 this year and the EDT looks like a nice new challenge, any advice for people considering taking on this road?
Angus, great ride💪. "Its a long way from the top(of Norway) if you wanna go Portugal" 🎶🎸
Angus, you ROCK! You've inspired me to look at this route as my next big (but MUCH slower than yours) biking adventure. Last one was Nordkapp to Sicily with my little dog. Now that my best friend has crossed the rainbow bridge, I would like to get into gravel even though I'm approaching 60yo. Really great film - thanks very much for sharing your achievement, and most of all, congratulations!!!
I know you! You are the winner of the Pan Celtic Race 2021! Incredible performance! And gosh! 7,800 in a month is another crazy achievement!
What a superb achievement. Superb film with fantastic narration. I bet the kids you teach will me amazed and motivated by a person like you,
Amazing film and what a journey!
Beyond. Epic. Chemists rock.
Great snap shot into your journey. Must have been super frustrating losing your SD cards. The ending😮, you have cycled 7600k, such an accomplishment and the tourists have no idea and you are just a messy bikepacker. Keep on riding Angus.
Did it by myself what means I exactly know what's goin on out there....! This is an unbelievable effort Angus! Congrats and my hat goes to the ground.....!
I can't even begin to comprehend the ride you did! Congratulations!!!
Insane, amazing and inspiering! Well done!
Amazing, and very inspiring !
I'd like to hear more about how your body coped with all the load? How your fitness developed and adapted throughout the journey? What type of pain you've experienced and duration/intensity of it? Very interesting and cool thing you did there mate! My hat is off for you😊
Too awesome to put it into words! Amazing.
Absolutely inspirational!
That's so inspiring. Great riding dude!
Incredible mate! Well done!
Amazing and truly inspiring trip!
Yes! Life is not a race, but for those who want to race, race! Great achievement!
Wow! Amazing journey!
Congrats man... that was a serious case of superation and achievement!
This video shows how simple something that mind-blowing can be. It seems like a surreal trip, but it's just a long bike ride. Gives me hope and affirmation that I could do something likewise. Thanks for this inspiring video, and congratulations with this great achievement!
Incredible ride and a top film 📽️ well done mate

Well done Angus and great job with the video!
Awesome! Great job!!
Incredible effort and so inspiring to get out and ride your bike. Well done sir👏👏
incredible accomplishment!! the hard parts of pain and ever returning thoughts followed by moments of tailwind, fast gravel, hidden energy depots in your body, suddenly you are flying again. you have to have been there. you went down that rabbit hole deeper than many others. great effort of the body and the mind!
Unbelievable! Well done
What a cool film and an amazing achievement. Well done Angus. Huge Kudos. Thanks for sharing :-)

🌍🚵♂ Exploring the world on two wheels never looked so good! This video is a treasure, and it's proudly being added to our collection. Fantastic work! 🚀
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks, Angus, for the wonderful tale from the trail.
Unbelievable, what an achievement! Physically, but more than that, mentally. Congratulations Angus.
Epic ride! Congratulations! Planning on riding the north section (Norway/Finland/Sweden) and go back home in mid Norway.

Top! great adventure great corage
an amazing accomplishment, beautifully told. Thank you!
What a star. 👏👏👏👏
Nice vid man! I enjoyed the whole length. Kudos for not dwelling on your own suffering (like lots of people would) and mainly just showing the amazing scenery.
Congratulations on this epic achievement! 💪
Monumental achievement Angus ! 😜
Excellent video, that's exceptional endurance there. I would watch much more of that trip...
An incredible achievement 👏👏👏
That was epic!
Well done. It took me a month to ride just the northern section last year! I'm looking forward to completing the other two sections in the next few years.
👌🙏 for your achievement - and thx for the video
You transended during your alone time . Thats special.
A M A Z I N G.......... well done!!!!
Amazing video and achievement angus i would love to do it sometime, meaby you might complete it again only this time start in Portugal and go north probably feel like a different trip.
Maybe one day!
i love how you went into detail about training your body, and the pain involved --- i've watched dozens and dozens of these videos and almost none of them talk about that part. it started to feel like i was the only one who couldn't just hop right on and bike across countries with no training.
Yeah, if you want to race you gotta train but for touring you can just start off easy and then train into it as you go.
Great adventure & awesome to get to know you! Been seeing your name on so many events!
Can’t believe how much you fitted into 20 minutes, great video 👍
What an achievement bud, 😊👌❤️🇬🇧fantastic efforts... Looks amazing places😍👊🇬🇧🇬🇧
Come to America we will love to have you. We have beautiful trails. Cheers!
This is incredible. Congratulations, m8! Bringing Bikepacking to the next level. #hasenbart
respect. The video was too short, WAY TOO SHORT! 😁 greetings from Finland, home of moskitos.
Beautiful ❤😊
Angus...you must be a machine! I'm riding on the EDT at this moment and it blows my mind by only thinking what you have done here!! The force must be strong in you!! 😉👍
Good fun. We oldies in our 60s rode e-bikes between Gibraltar and Nordkapp in 2023. We rode 6,000km.
Love it!
@@angusyoung-enduranceathlete My wife's view is that we should do these things while our bodies let us. We toured in France in 1994 as a delayed honeymoon and have, in the last couple of years (on ebikes), ridden the Tour Aotearoa and Tour Kopiko routes in New Zealand. Worth googling to see. The TA is 3,000 km long, but we found the Kopiko (at only 1,200 km, tougher going as it traverses some isolated parts of the North Island (code of poor roads). Come down and see!
Good on ya Mate, congrats for the effort. i just completed a short bike packing trip in Japan and I know how bloody it can get at times. I certantly will attempt this European route in the near future. Hope you can come this way on your bike and visit Downunder one day.
Amazing 😍 I hope one day do the same!!!
I'm tempted to give up my Spain to France bike trip, which is a tiny fraction of yours, after watching your video🤣. Time to get a motorcycle, heck a 50cc scooter would do! Though, I'll say I rode a mt bike in Uruguay for 4 months, with at least 4 broken spokes. That rim was undulating like a broken oscilloscope! I've had more fun riding on bicycles than I ever thought was possible. Great captivating video btw! Watching some of your other episodes.
One of my essentials for any trip is my midge jacket.
the trick is to just keep moving
very inspiring! I did basically most of France after Switzerland last fall. it is often so beautiful! I definitely want to do Spain as well some time!
what bike did you ride with? im not sure if i should take a gravel bike or a hardtail.. im starting in switzerland and will ride the first part of the divide in france, and then leave the divide and go to northern spain instead
BOSS! 💪🏻
Chapeau 🔝
