I like how the game initially builds up an expectation that Null is a second protagonist, but after he dies it's revealed that all those secrets he so desperately wanted you not to find were actually just goofy Easter Eggs.

For all the people wondering, the 1996 version setting is a reference to how Sonic's Schoolhouse looked back then on those old computers, that this game was based on.
It's also a general reference to how older 3D games would look; only some machines were good enough to run stuff like Doom at a decent speed with the full screen size, so most folks had to turn down the screen size creating a border around the screen. The earlier versions of Doom even featured a border designed around the whole "space marine" thing to save on performance, but it got cut.

If you beat null and get all the 7 notebooks , baldi wont sundenly get interrupted by a speaker saying "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN" he just says "Find a exit before i catch you!" Null Style is unlocked by completing three main styles with all fun settings turned on except Free Run. Be sure to find Null in every style so that you can collect the notebooks in Null Style. After that, you'll be able to unlock it by clicking in Baldi in the style selection. During Null Style, the schoolhouse is completely empty except for Null, who will begin to chase the player once the player collects 2 notebooks. In the YCTP, the checks and Xs are not for solving math. They are for completing styles. If it has a check, a style is completed with Null is found. If it has an X, a style is completed without Null not found. The notebook has no questions. Once the first 2 notebooks have been collected, Null will begin to chase the player in a similar way to Baldi. But there are several differences with Baldi: 1. He does not make any noise while moving. 2. He moves more chunks than Baldi. 3. He can open any door within 0.5 secs. 4. He can break through windows. 5. He may occasionally speak while chasing the player. 6. When Null catches the player, it makes a long jumpscare, the school will glitch, and crash the game. Exits: Once the first 3 exits have been reached, Null's speed will insanely increase and will run away and hide from the player but he will not harm it. However, once the last exit is reached, Null will suddenly run towards it. Boss: After all exits are reached, random floating objects appear which the player can get near it and interact it to throw. Once Null is hit for the first time, he will try to distort the building and the boss fight will begin. He will chase the player around Baldi's school. When Null is hit, the music hangs while stunned and the music will continue. Every time the player hits it, the speed will increase. At 9/10 hits, the music will hang in one note, leaving the drums. However, when Null catches the player during the boss fight, the music will hang in one note and the drums will stop playing. Once Null is hit 10 times, the player will be teleported to a door that leads to Mystman12's office. In Mystman12's office, there is a notebook on the side next to the computer. Once they close the notebook, Null will appear once again to tell the journal lies of the notebook, then Null will vanish. Once Null is gone, NULL Style is completed, which causes the following changes to the game: 1. Null Style will be replaced with Glitch Style, which is similar except Null is replaced by a red Baldloon. 2. Baldi's "GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN" will be replaced with "Find a way before I catch you!". 3*. Everytime Null appears, it'll be replaced into Baldi showing to every encounter. 4. Secret codes found in the YCTP will appear in Baldi's basement. A secret code is also on Mystman12's office supplies room. 5. In Glitch Style, Me will appear instead of Null after closing the notebook in Mystman12's office. *3. Everytime Null appears, it'll be replaced into Baldi showing to every encounter: Classic Style - Baldi will give advise on subtraction about negative answers. Party Style - Baldi will play his written song named "Baldi's Funtime Song". Demo Style - In Baldi's basement, he will appear in the shrink machine. He will ask the player to test it. Secret death screen: Null will show one last time in the secret death screen. At first, an error screen will appear. After few seconds, it will glitch. During the glitch, Baldi's voice "Welcome to Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning! That's me!" will be heard in random speed. After few seconds, the screen will become black for 15 to 20 seconds. After that, a photo of a lake with Null will be shown. After 10 seconds, Null will glitch out and scream out loud. After that, Null will no longer be in the photo. The picture will fade out in chunks until it is completely black, and the game closes. This only happens once after they complete NULL Style. This might happen as Null catches the player in NULL Style.

My theory is NULL is a scrapped character who's jealous of the others who made it in. And since there's no use for him, he corrupted. Making him even more angry. He's sad he didn't make it in and he begs the player to just delete the game and free him of his misery but you don't listen Death screen, looks like he's there. Maybe an old location meant for him. Schoolhouse Trouble does use a similar-ish soundfont to earlier windows touhou games, so that’s probably why. Though it’s more akin to the Midi soundfont used in games like doom I & II as opposed to the soundfont used in EoSD imo.
