  • Agree with everything except Petroleum Jelly. I can understand not using it all the time since it can clog the pores and is heavy, but it’s saved me many of times when my skin has reacted harshly. When I discovered I was allergic to Menthol and especially after using Proactiv, my skin was set on fire and it was dry, burnt, and felt miserable, and I couldn’t find any aloe products without alcohol (which enhances the burn and dries me out too) So I used petroleum jelly, and my gosh it calmed my skin down and healed itself much faster. And I definitely disagree saying not to use it anywhere else in the body too. Legit got burned all over my stomach and legs from steaming hot soup that fell into my lap and between the constant towels being dipped into a bucket of ice water every ten seconds by mom, the petroleum jelly in thick layers helped tremendously as well. I think things like that can be used in moderation, just yeah, not the other things mentioned, at least not to the face.

    • Hi, I just saw your reply and thought I’d recommend what I use, I bought an aloe Vera plant and it grows really nicely. It doesn’t take long before I slice off a ‘spear’ cut it open widthways. I scrape it off with the edge of a spoon. I grew it, so I know it’s organic and it’s always fresh plus it’s hygienic. 👍

  • Here’s what I learned by 38; -Never! Never strip natural skin moisture from anywhere on your body. Your natural oil is better than any skin moisturizer in the world. -I don’t use toners, acidic and scented skincare. -I don’t do masks, scrubs, and anything abrasive. -I only use oil cleansers and only with light unscented oils. It removes black heads, dead skin and removes makeup, sunscreen while providing the best protection for skin. I don’t double cleanse either, just the oil cleanser. -Vitamin e rich butters and oils helps with hyperpigmentation, smooth skin, protect against aging. The real treatment for hyperpigmentation and getting smooth skin, is to not irritate and dry it out. My 15 yr old had really bad, tricky nose acne and nothing gently and quickly removed and kept away his large black heads like oil cleansing. I bought strips, and tried a suction pore tool for a sec and they are just too damaging to skin. This is how I got more into oil cleansing myself. Overall a lot of skincare is more a scam than it is a help. They have you strip your skin, so you can put their products to replace it. Your skin oil isn’t the problem. It’s your no. 1 protection but what you do to your skin can throw it off. I also learned hair products was a big issue for my breakouts. There’s so much you got to look into. I would just go with nothing and add little by little to see what’s the cause of your skins imbalance and you can start subtracting. The best skin is on those who do little to nothing. I even remember using face washes and not bc I needed them but bc it said face wash. Then all of sudden I needed them and had oily t zones. I’m glad that I have normal and a balance of matte and dewiness to my skin now. I don’t need foundation and I have never had that kinda skin since it was combination. I recently tried some new products hair and skin and all of sudden breakouts and hyperpigmentation came back. I just did an overhaul of everything I’m using and now my skin is balanced again. There’s dermatologist that say that hormones and diet are the minority of the causes for the public’s typical skin issues. They claim it’s more so the wrong things ppl are using and even the things that are widely sold from the beauty and skin care industry.

  • Thank you. Finally someone I can agree with. Best thing I did for my skin is leave it alone. No alcohol or excessive carbs. Wear protective clothes when it is too hot. Now at the age of 57, no wrinkles, no blemishes or anything to worry. I use body butters if necessary only. My motto is, if can't eat it, don't put on your skin. So as a beauty treatment,, I need to go to the kitchen. Honey, milk butter, some herbs, yogurt, fruit peels etc are very helpful. So big corporation never got a penny from me, and that saved my skin. PS I don't use make up either, just lip balm, eye pencil and some basic powder in rare occasions.

Depends on the bar soap, but for the typical bar soaps for hands (that I haven't seen in decades unless I go to my grandparent's house), yea avoid that type of bar soap on the face. 2. Petroleum jelly is fantastic to put on the face. Dermatologists love it. No other moisturiser is better for preventing transepidermal water loss. It's not "pore clogging" and we have known that for many decades. No ingredient in typical skin care is just straight up "pore clogging" anyway, that term has a very peculiar history. It doesn't get absorbed into the body at all. You can't develop an immune reaction to it because it doesn't bind with proteins. I think this guy might be confused with crude oil or something... I'd recommend just checking out Dr Dry on youtube, she's a dermatologist. 3. Body moisturizer is absolutely fine for your face. It's primarily a thickness difference. Standard moisturizers can be used wherever and this is also why dermatologists are so over "under-eye cream". Absolutely does not clog pores. This guy needs to learn more about supposed "pore clogging" and where this shit came from (rabbit ears and backs and such). Okay now he's selling his own face moisturizer... this is reminding me of companies trying to say that under-eye cream is fundamentally required. 4. The rubbing alcohol type of alcohol is used in MANY skin care products, and is required for a lot of them to work. There's no problem with using this. But if you were to just apply straight up rubbing alcohol alone, that would be pretty hardcore and, likely not recommended. I don't know if people even do that, I suppose some do. 5. Sounds like a biohazard ._. Wow that was not super great... Yea, Dr Dray. She's awesome.

You are probably going to think I'm crazy, but I live where its very dry. At night time, I use shortening or lard. I clean my face, then steam it for 5 mins. then I apply shortening or lard and let it sit on my face for 10 to 20 mins. I then take a warm wash cloth and gently wipe off the excess. • And all facial cleansers are water base unless you are double cleansing at night to remove spf and makeup. You could use a gel cleanser and be just fine, unless you try to use oil base/cleansing balm that are only meant for double cleansing as first step. Chances are you are not really acne-prone, you just used soap... which is different. If your cleanser does not have ingredients that target acne but your acne still went away... then you might just have sensitive skin or you sensitized your skin with the soap

      @mile_851@mile_851 Жыл бұрын
    • @@mile_851 You got that wrong. Not all facial cleansers are pH balanced. Most of it are too alkaline (just like bar soaps) which are also above the face's pH level. And don't tell me all cleansers are water-based, because they are not. Some are gel type, foaming, some have thick consistency, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is water-based. If you have pH level paper strips to test out facial cleansers, then go test it for yourself and discover. pH 5 to 6 are considered acidic and it falls within the exact level of your skin. I have tested out past facial washes that I once thought were mild but when I tested them out, I was surprised most of them are pH 8 to 9 and it signifies alkalinity. Which means they are too stripping of the skin's natural moisture barrier. To sum everything up, facial washes aren't all mild.

They like to retort with their grandmother used it and she has no wrinkles. OR that Marilyn Monroe also used it for that sheen you see in her photos. Another thing Petroleum was used for in the Navy was to cover pipes on ships that were in salt water and rusted the pipes. Petroleum is also used in many medications today. I think you know that. 😊

There’s no research that it’s good for you when we have other proven safe options. But there is research that was petroleum used on rats, and the rats grew tumors. Organic cold pressed coconut oil actually has anti viral and anti bacterial properties. You wanna rub nasty ass petrol on your lips? Go ahead, but watch out for skin cancer.

Sometimes id apply it and allow to dry and then rinse off with lukewarm water. I guess the fluoride may have help or maybe the mint. Tap water in my area has a high fluoride content already. Acne creams i used in the early 90s when i was a teenager such as Oxy10? - 10 being the strongest and you had to speak to the pharmacist about it first - contained peroxide, I think that ate/burnt through my pillow case overnight! I worked in a petrol station at the time and the environment affected my skin, so i spent time with cleaning my hands regularly and used barrier creams, a friend of mine at the same time worked in a fish and chip shop and followed my routines, however the heat from the oils and cooking made him sweat and now aged 46 he still has scars from his pimples on his face and shoulders! Everyone is different and some people are fortunate to have low maintenance skin. Vanity played a part in my teen facial care and there were lots of bullies that would point out even the smallest blemish on someone's face! The bullies in particular females would be absent from school or college for a few days every month!

She loved me and taught me so much. I was a nervous mother. But she helped me so much. We laughed a lot. She loved my husband.She validated, never dismissed my nervousness.Thanks to her . She was sick for a couple of weeks and told me I needed to be okay when she passed because she would be rejoin her son and be with Jesus.I promised her but it wasn’t an honest response .I was destroyed I slept in the hospital bed with her for 3 nights. • The one thing that surprised me (besides #1…) was petroleum jelly. I’ve used Vaseline and Aquaphor for years, and let me tell you, they were the ONLY things that helped with my dry, cracked, bleeding lips. Not to mention there’s a thing called slugging where people will use Vaseline or Aquaphor over gentle moisturizers to basically lock it in. I’ve been doing that and it’s helped my skin so much. I get that for some it can worsen the skin, but it’s only ever helped me.

I still remember beauty consultants asking her what she used & they would be floored when they found out!Although she’s changed her beauty habits & I hate to even say this, I honestly think she might owe some of her beautiful skin (at 74) to her previous use of petroleum jelly.

  • I believe that beautiful skin starts from the inside. What we eat and drink as well as the air we breath is shown on our skin. So maybe consume your antioxidants rather than putting it on your face.

    @pennyupson6000@pennyupson60004 жыл бұрын
    • Well, there are people that no matter how conscious in everything they eat, they still have these loads of pimples on their face. You, probably were born with perfect skin and so it is easy for you to just say, it is all about what we consume. How about those people that are naturally oily in which they are more prone to getting pimples and the only way for them to treat it is by taking medications and through different kinds of creams? Yes, eating healthy can help but sometimes it isn’t enough to treat certain skin problems.

    • As a general side note, eating anti oxidants won't do much of anything because your kidneys clear out 90% of all the gunk in the things you digest. Antioxidants won't help with your face and you can't clear out your organs and stomach by eating them, even if they are healthy foods. Antioxidants directly on your face however does help because it fights off crap in the air throughout the day. It's completely purposeful to make cleansers or moisturizers or sunscreens antioxidant because it will actually help your skin, instead of digesting antioxidants which won't do anything

  • This is a great recap, thank you doctor! I use 50:50 alcohol and water solution on rare occasion only if I'm having a stubborn or particularly itchy breakout on my back (I have long hair which makes it get sweaty back there sometimes), and it definitely calms down the skin but dries it out REALLY bad so I have to put some of my best natural and organic creams on after (for example, eminence organic skin care is my go to). Also number 1 is crazy! In contrast, I have used menstrual blood before which worked wonders as a mask (I used it for certain spots on my face), but also dries out the skin if you leave it on for too long. It's a very potent source of stem cells and we just flush it down the drain every month. I will use it again in the future for blemishes but probably only leave it on for 5 minutes 👌🩸

Never use paper, toilet paper or paper towel. Always pat dry, never rub. When applying moisturizer to any skin on the body, do so when skin is wet in order to lock in moisture. Expensive products aren’t better. Stay out of the sun and take Vitamin D, 1000 IU’s per day. A bottle of 100 tablets lasts longer than 3 months and costs about $4-5. As women we’re prone to Osteoporosis, so it’s great to use!
