    • Jon has always been like that. He’s very secretive about how he trains and what he trains and what he works on. Not just now with the move to hw, even at Jackson wink, he never wanted footage of him training for real. Even embedded series stuff or ufc countdown stuff, he would say in so many episodes “Alrite it’s time to work, turn the camera off.” He never takes last minute fights and always wants a full training camp to study every tendency of his opponents and prepare like no other in every single area for that specific fighter and style. Imo that’s overlooked with jones, yeah he’s big strong and athletically and physically gifted, but his preparation and the mental aspect he taps into during training camp even when he was partying all night is crazy and that’s the main reason he has become arguably the best we’ve ever seen in the octagon.

    • Jon Jones was a great fighter. No doubt about it. But the main advantage he had over his opponents was his reach. That was earlier in his career. His most recent fights, against opponents as tall and with the same reach, well, the judges (and a certain Mr White) were in his corner. Remember Gustafson? As tall as him and with the same reach? Remember Reyes, and the others... Reminds me of another (arrogant) fighter who was beating his opponents left, right and center. Till a certain tall Brazilian walked into the octagon and knocked his lights out. Heavyweights are mostly tall guys like himself. And he isn't as fast as he used to be since he put on so much weight. He will meet Ciryl Gane, an opponent as tall as himself with similar reach. And Gane is very quick for a heavyweight. An interesting fight. And its not going to be a walk in the park (ask Henry Cejudo). Oh, and I forgot that JJ does drugs. Its going to be a great fight. May the better man win.

This really is the pinnacle of combat sports minds in a 20-minute segment. Of course, at first I wanted to see the footage. But, in truth now I am even more excited to see it for the first time on March 4th. I think the brilliance of Jones is he has always added tools to his game after long layoffs.
