  • As a former Marine, I can honestly say that it's not so much about pushing your body but more about pushing your mind to IGNORE your body. We learned that your body can endure far more pain than the average mind can comprehend, thus making endurance of the mind more important than endurance of the body. Mind over matter, because if you don't mind, it don't matter!

    @climbsnowboardtravelrepeat@climbsnowboardtravelrepeat Жыл бұрын
    • Marines train for hours with literally no breaks, no hand holding, in not only physical, but mentally breaking work. “World class” athletes do work hard too, and also for hours every day. But they have the added benefit of having hired nutritionists, trainers, coaches, they have a lot of help with recovery time, as they generally have access to electric muscle stimulation, saunas, ice baths, etc. Essentially, marines don’t really have any of those resources, just sheer force of will. Which if you ask me, is a lot more impressive than just being able to afford the best training and diet cause of your parents or sponsors money.

      @hardknocklife5164@hardknocklife5164 Жыл бұрын
    • @@hardknocklife5164 Well Magnus did earn his position through crazy hard work, and if you compared him to the rest in more climbing or gymnastic type of exercise, he would crush them. Now he has sponsors, but he was just as fit before. That isn't meant to to be an insult to anyone else - Magnus spent a huge chunk of his life just training his body physically. No learning about other stuff, ha, including what Marines learn about. He just was willing to be a poor climber and his home country supports national athletes. The are all gods compared to most people in the world.

  • This simply proves the difference between gym strength and functional strength and endurance. When I worked construction in my late teens and early 20's, I couldn't bench press over 200 lbs. However, I could carry 2 bundles of shingles (160 lbs) on one shoulder up a ladder for an hour straight. I could muscle up into the rafters with ease. I could shovel all day and move literal tons of material. Years later, I have a desk job and get my exercise in a gym. I can move a lot of iron, but a weekend building project smokes me, LoL.

    @Persona89037@Persona890372 жыл бұрын
    • It's essential to do their jobs. When things need to be done *now* to prevent catastrophe, commanders will not and do not accept fatigue as an excuse for failure. The enemy also grants no leniency to a tired opponent. To show weakness invites defeat. Marines must be as close to indefatigable as is humanly possible. Even when their bodies say no, their minds must be prepared to say "STFU and do it."

What a beast. (And before any wacko tries to turn this into a sexism debate when I genuinely want to give her a compliment : frick off.)

    • Finally someone who actually appreciates Jupiter’s hard work. The average men and women can’t even compete with her since we’re to busy on our phones or video games to even train. Most guys on here are saying that she did the worst and that she’s useless on the team. If she was better than the most guys would say she’s not even a girl cause she did better than a guy but if she’s worse than them they say she’s weak for not being able to compete with a man even tho men are meant to be stronger than women.

I said the average men or women can’t do stuff like this. It doesn't make sense in marines for w0mn to have different standards than men .This is real war ...enemies won't spare u just bc u r a w0mn . What a joke this generation is .... Suck to be u . Quality matters more than quantity . "The few ,the fearless". In marines u cannot cherry pick like oh I'm not strong but i will manage it by being smarter and better in weapons than m€n...lol 😂 Marines are trained for unconventional warfare ... Do you even know what it means?? They have to prepare for everything ..Both strength and strategic is important . Anything can happen in REAL WAR. Success in every training is important There's a reason why a certain number of reps are required to be eligible for marines. If one couldn't complete the reps that means he/she lacks will power which is a downgrade .. Special forces doesn't recruit people with lack of will power .

  • The mental fatigue combined with physical fatigue is what breaks many. I saw this when I went to Marine BootCamp in 1990. I was in great running shape being a high school soccer player but the mental fatigue started in my 3rd week because, in 13 weeks of boot camp, there are no days off. The lack of sleep, recovery, and constant physical workouts is how they break you mentally. It didn't get easier after boot camp because the School of Infantry broke me because we're always running with packs on and then the pinnacle was being assigned to my infantry unit where mind and body became calloused through even harder demands like being cold and wet for days while out in the field for weeks. By the time I got into the combat theater; the day to day physical grind, heat and lack of sleep just become a normal day (it wasn't easy but I knew I could push through). I learned to understand the meaning that a Marine will die before giving up. Many stories of Marines being severely wounded in combat but they still got up and pushed passed the physical and mental discomfort to continue the fight. Glad to see these kinds of videos. • Excellent video. As a vet myself (from 20+ years ago), I can tell you that the military trains for endurance, not raw strength. While raw strength definitely has its place and usefulness, outright endurance to outlast the enemy on all fronts is what wins battles and wars in the long run. Still, you guys did great and it was nice to see the collaboration with the Leathernecks.

    • @@tiarnan76 brother... you're asking the wrong person. You need to speak with your physician or a Kinesiologist. The human body has its limitations and when you factor in genetics, that adds another element to the equation. Muscle growth and size has absolutely NOTHING to do with the branch of service you're in (or not in) My best explanation, given my knowledge of how to build and develop muscles, is that your large calf size is a product of a lot of walking, especially steep hills (or stairs), climbing, running (especially if you play soccer), and/or genetics. I've seen a guy who was never in the military, never played sports, and had the hugest traps I've ever seen! He's French-Canadian and met him through an IT conference in the states. In contrast, the fastest Marine I've met never ran track in hs or played football and has never trained, yet faster than those that have (civilians pros and pro athletes). Riddle me that.

    • @@jalensilas9457 Not true big dawg. The CFT and PFT scores are varied for both age and gender - female scores, because they’re biologically not as strong as men, are much different then male scores. They’re scaled accordingly. Jupiter running the scores she did was extremely impressive for a female. Don’t count out female marines that easily. In strength, the fItNesS iNflUenCers might have the advantage, but we’ll always take the score.
