Jared Cannonier stops by the UFC Post Show to chat with Dan Hellie, Michael Chiesa and Alan Jouban after his record-setting victory vs. Marvin Vettori in the main event. His cardio is great and he's good everywhere, but just not elite anywhere specifically which really hurts him when he fights guys that specialize in something and are good enough to negate whatever he's doing that they're not great. He's not great at anything but is very well rounded. He's still young, and he has shown to improve in his striking. hopefully he improves a lot more.

  • I wish most MMA fighters (besides guys like Max, Topuria etc) would understand that consistent bodywork makes it easier to finish their opponents, especially if one hits as hard as Jared. You are not just hurting them, but also sapping their stamina and making them worried about the body shots, which helps set up big finishing strikes.

  • This was a great example of the the better fighter not always winning the fight. We clearly saw that Jared was the better fighter in there and showed it over 5 rounds. But let's saw he would have been put down in round 1 with one of those punches from Marvin. Many people would assume Marvin was better then Jared. But because he fought through it, we got to see that Jared was actually the better fighter.

    • Marvin was still dangerous until the last round, so throwing in a towel wouldnt be needed. The only problem was, that Marvin isnt a finisher, going into the 5th round needing a finish.

  • Jared also almost knocked Robert out in the 4th or 5th round with a broken arm the entire time. Basically he fought Robert for 5 rounds with a broke arm and made it competitive.

    • Such bs, it was only comparative in the first round due to kicks, and Rob is the one that snapped his arm in the first place, overall the fight was not competitive. Go look at the picture of them together after the fight, Whittaker looks like he went for a jog, Cannonier looks absolutely battered.

  • Jared looked crazy good, got rocked in the 1st round and came back to dismantle Vettori for the next 4. I thought round 2 warranted a 10-8; Marvin took 257 strikes last night and has now absorbed 402 in his last 3.
