Thanks so much!
Is that Prince Nando … congrats bro
No way
I saw it too, great addition to the team!
yow new guy, i watch many your videos on your personal channel a couple of times. Your iPad videos were very informative. Congrats for joining 9to5
thanks for coming by!
Name?
I actually like the idea of having “regular” multitasking on the iPad and stage manager on the external display. I can see that being my main setup. I think both multitasking’s works for different situations. It’s what I like about the iPad, or the idea of the iPad hahaha, versatility.
His videos are so calming. He is my new go-to channel for anything related to iPad. Way to go 9to5Mac!
You make the best iPad content on KZhead. Glad to see you’re career flourishing!
Thanks so much John!
Welcome to the team! Great video. Can’t wait to try this.
I like how well you described and showed us this new feature! You are a very good speaker! Very excited to test Stage manager on my iPad too!
Glad it was helpful!
Really cool video. Thanks for the iPad specific content. Please give us an update when it gets more stable!
🐬 Great job... this answered all the questions I had about Stage Mgr. Keep the vids coming...
Yo fernando, i’ve been watching your videos, very excited that you’re partnering with 9to5mac 🔥🔥🔥
thanks so much!
Woah Fernando, you’re here?! Great to see you and love your content. 👍🏾🙌🏾
Thank so much! I’ll be posting here much more so happy to have you here!
Whoa. Congrats on the new gig!!
I made it to the end! Great presentation. Thanks!
I'm a big fan of both 9to5Mac and Fernando Silva. Nice to see you guys team up. Continue to use your powers for awesome!🐬
Thank you!
Look who's on 9to5 Mac. Good to see you, my guy.
Congrats on your new gig with 9to5Mac. Hope all goes well!
thnks so much!
The most comprehensive video I've seen of Stage Manager on iPadOS 16. Question for you or any iPad creators who knows... Is the file transfer, docking and undocking, and formatting situation really as bad as ppl say?
Great to see Fernando Silva joining 9to5mac! My Sunday morning just got better!
Let’s go!
Thanks for the thorough video 🐬
Being able to use stage manager in games is a massive game changer also adding other windows on top doesn’t distort or change the backround main app, definitely worth using over normal split screen now
Nando !!! Nice to see you at 9to5 Mac
🐬 great content on SM and congratulations on joining the team
Great review. Hugs from Brazil !
Oh thank you!
Fernando absolutely killing it!
Congrats man! Big step
yo da man
Thanks for this video. Just installed the beto 4 on my iPad Pro 11 inch and couldn't yet figure out stage manager. Now I get a better hang of it so am going to try using it later today
it takes a little bit to get used to it all
Great to see you moving on. Congrats! And thx for trying stage manager for us. Trying to find a monitor now for my desk with stage manager. But I can't wrap my head around color accuracy, because I do a lot of photo editing on my iPad Pro. If I understand correctly, I'd need a monitor that is very sRGB oder P8 accurate out of the box? because how would I calibrate a display without MacOS or Windows with ICC and all the crazy stuff. Any clue?
Great overview video, I was worried that it wouldn’t work with logi keyboard for iPad, now I know it will :)
🐬 You have answered some of my major questions. Thanks. Hope that Excel can go full screen as is your video editing software.
I believe it does! Stay subbed, I’ll be making a Microsoft on iPadOS 16 video here shortly!
This is so helpful!!!!!! Thank you a ton
Glad it was helpful!
Great work
Wow, what an achievement!!! Congratulations, Fernando! 🙂 🥳🤩
Thank you! 😃
Very good video presentation - well articulated and informative! By the way, where did you purchase your monitor riser (stand)? It looks promising!
thanks for the kind words! Its by a company called Grovemade, little bit on the pricier side but great quality
Great video! Hopefully Apple resolves all the bugs
I hope so too!
now this is great!
Congrats on the 9to5Mac partnership!
I really wish Apple would give us the option to reduce space between app icons and add more to the screens. You could fit like 20 icons in the space of 8!
Almost a Dex like experience but not quite there yet
Just one more thing that Android has done for like a decade already lol... Freaking Apple
A well deserved promotion Fernando!!
The main thing i’m realistically looking for is preset stage manager windows and ability for shortcut customisation. And of course 4 windows opened at once the same size that doesnt over lap (vertically) and full resizing is a must with the spots it curently just snaps to
Hi Fernando. Congrats for being now in 9to5Mac! There's a gear u don't describe in the comments and I want to know the brand, it's seems very nice. It's the magnetic base for the iPad that it's in the side of the monitor. Can u tell me which one is it? Thanks in advance!
Congrats on joining 9to5! Keeping your other channel alive?
Nice video. Question: what dongle do you use? Are also charging the iPad at the same time?
🐬 thanks for the great video! i would like to use the iPad for giving lectures but i use revealjs so i need two synchronized browser windows, one for the audience (full screen on a projector) and one for speaker notes on the iPad. here’s hoping stage manager will enable that setup!
🐬 And I love your videos dude, keep them up!
Glad you like them!
Holy crap your on a new channel dude nice upgrade
thank you!
Fernando for the win!! iPad only guy here too. So happy for you!!
LOVE the new guy 😍
I managed to get Universal Control working while on Stage Manager on the iPad…that’s also extending to an external monitor. There are some stuttering in mouse movements (annoying), some apps crashing from time to time, but it’s working consistently enough. I’m currently typing on the keyboard shared via UC (from my MacBook) through the external monitor hooked to the iPad….watching your video on safari
🐬 - Thanks for the update. It's nice to see how stage manager is coming along. As more things are becoming web based, I relish the idea of completely transitioning to an iPad Pro as my main device - skipping my desktop and laptop altogether. The addition of "proper" monitor support is very welcome! Might not be a workable use case scenario for "power users," but for me it's just right 👌
Do you have a review video for that monitor? Looks dope! Would love to see more about it
i can make one!
🐬 how much storage do you need to use a iPad Pro as a computer? I am looking into switching from windows to either MacBook Pro 14 or iPad. What would you recommend?
Im excited for its arrival.
Are you able to use the Apple Pencil to take notes on the iPad with Notability, while running zoom or any other app on an external display? Or can you have one instance of Notability open on the iPad where you can take notes, and a second instance open on the external monitor to take notes from?
🐬 solid video!!
thanks Steve!
🐬 Excellent video. Thanks! 🐬
Glad you enjoyed it
🐬 also great to see you on 9to5mac!
thanks so much!
@@9to5Mac keep it up!
Hi very nice video thanks for this. External monitor support is different from stage manager, if you connect your iPad to external monitor and then connect a mouse to the iPad don’t care is this via cable or Bluetooth then the external monitor support kicks with the stage manager view on the external screen. So you don’t need to enable this.
Fernando Silva on 9 to 5 Mac? Count me in!
Thanks Cameron!
The iPad Pro M1 is my “computer” and I like the iPad OS 15 way of multitasking just fine. Having external monitor support will be nice (once it works nice) but other than that, I rarely use stage manager.
“Clamshell” Workaround - dim screen (to minimize heat build-up while closed), then go to Settings > display & Brightness and turn Lock / Unlock toggle switch to the off position. Problem solved! Just make sure you’re plugged in to power and remember to change the setting when you’re ready to go mobile again. Also, congrats on joining 9 to 5 Mac! Sounds like a win for you and for 9 to 5 Mac. 😁🐬
Moving on up!
What monitor sand are you using? TY for a great video
Can you check if it works with a bluetooth mouse and no magic keyboard. I have seen somewhere that you need a type adapter which has a usb for mouse dongle. That's the only question I had. Thanks for such an informative video
Can you use the iPad as a dedicated drawing device for example be running procreate and have the stage manager open at the same time?
What do you think to use galaxy tablet as the second screen by stage manager? I do have an old samsung tablet, could be just amazing to use it as a display.
I really love this. I have been wishing for this for sooo long. However, I have a non M1 iPad Pro. We shall see.
Dude I love that desk set up! I want to copy this to a T. Where did you get that desk? I love that your monitor has a platform to stand on
He talked about his desk setup in this video: kzhead.info/sun/aph8hd6faIiFda8/bejne.html
Can you use the external display without a mouse? And how do you control that screen (for example how to resize a window on that external display)?
I love your monitor - what type is it? Thanks!
🐬 thank you for the video enjoyed it
Thanks for watching!
Does the iPad iOS 16 offer split screen for all apps now? Currently iOS 15 allows app developers to restrict if the app can be split screened or not. Thanks
Excellent video. Just need Xcode on the iPad Pro. 🐬
Fernando joined 9to5mac?! Congratulations…9to5mac! 😄 Epic acquisition!
thanks Andres!
Great video, thank you for explaining everything! Do you think it‘s possible to use external monitors in their native resolution? Or will it always scale down to the ipad resolution but just in the monitor‘s „orientation“ to use it full screen? You know what I mean? Let‘s consider I‘m using an 11“ iPad Pro: will it be different on an external monitor compared to the 12.9“ ? On iPad OS 15 it makes a difference…that‘s why I‘m asking…it it can bring the native resoltion of the monitor to the screen…an 11“ iPad Pro might be a better choice for people dealing with desktop screen space in their office right now. If it doesn‘t make any difference anymore, the portability of the 11“ iPad Pro can be an important factor in future if you mainly use it with an external monitor in your office anyways. You know what I mean?
pretty sure alle the m1 ipads are scaled to the monitors resolution whn using an external display
What happens when one app is open and you click on an app icon in the dock? Does it replace the previous app? Does it open next or over to it? And what happens when an app is covered by another? There is no Mission Control to bring it to the front is there?
Put iOS 16 Beta 3 on my M1 2TB iPad Pro and the secondary monitor only displays 1024 x 768 resolution on my 4K monitor. Both HDMI inputs and DisplayPort inputs present the iPad in this same low resolution. Is there a way to adjust the resolution from the iPad? Stage Manager doesn’t work at all.
I preordered an M2 iPad pro 11 inch only because there is external monitor support. All I need is to use safari on an external monitor. Is it possible to use an external monitor on the iPad without using the stage manager for safari?
I think that the issues you are facing might very well be due to the aspect ratio of the display, these issues may not be there if you connect the studio display or the pro XDR.
iPhone exclusive apps are not designed to be resized larger than iPhone displays. These resize issues are also present in the XDR display (so I am told, I do not own one). This is also why the resizing is somewhat limited and appears to be on a grid when using apps that have been designed for the iPad and other devices.
Prince Fernando, art you using shiftscreen 4 with iPadOS? If not, how does it work?
if we dont have M1 ipads does it worth to update to 16 soon ? or should we stay to 15.7 ?
Can it open one app below another app in portrait mode?( example youtube lecture on upper half and goodnotes on bottom half)? I really need that but splitscreen on my 12.9 ipad pro opens apps only side by side not one above another.
so screen sharing still doesn't work? It does seem like the app developers would have to make that work. Also, you know how you can have more than one instance of an app open? Well, I'm wondering if you can have one instance open on the iPad and the other instance open on the external monitor. What I'd like to be able to do is screen share the iPad screen with one notetaking app instance but have the external screen unshared with another instance of the notetaking app.
Hello, can you choose a window/app to share screen in zoom just like the pc ver?
Super helpful! Crazy functionality! Apple tryna reinvent computing…new paradigm.
I have 49n Samsung display and I have the m1 iPad Pro with iOS 16 witch connection you use for your 44 inch display port or HDMI thanks.
I have a 4th gen iPad Pro will the same external display with stage manager also be supported?
iPad OS 16 with Stage Manager and second monitor support is definite improvement over iPad OS 15, but it still does not make my 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro with 2TB storage a standalone computer. For that I need to be able to unmount, repair and format external drives, run virtual machines, program in C++, run Pro Apps, etc. I rarely use my MacBook Pro these days, and I will never buy another Apple laptop because they have an antiquated UI, as I need a mobile device to have touch display and pen support. I am also now unlikely to upgrade my iPad Pro because I feel let down by Apple, as they are too focussed on marketing spin, and they completely fail to deliver customer requirements on the arrogant pre-text that they know best. I will probably replace my iPad Pro with a next generation Microsoft Surface Pro, preferably with either an AMD 6000 series APU or new high performance ARM processor (re: Microsoft / Qualcomm collaboration). Windows 11 has improved significantly over Windows 10, and I can readily run virtual machines and graphical Linux apps alongside my Windows apps. I've been using Apple products for over 20 years, and their hardware is excellent but their operating systems, especially iPad OS, seemed to be designed to frustrate by placing too many restrictions on what you can do, rather than delight the end user. Their rational around improved security is over played, and its more about getting you to buy more of their hardware, since the iPad is primarily designed as a Mac accessory (aka sidecar and universal control), and I have now come to point where I am reluctant to invest more effort and money in Apple's ecosystem.
I don't think iPads will ever be able to run arbitrary code. In general computers are tending toward more restrictions, not fewer.
It's simple... You're not Apple's target customer. It's designed for people that just want it to work and care more about the look and status of the Apple logo, use an iPhone like all their friends and have no interest or ability to do things like code, run a virtual machine, etc. I've got an Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro - the screen is a little more flexible than I would like but it's the most Apple version of a Windows dual use laptop/tablet. I like it much better than the Surface computers but that's just me
What if you take out the USB cable and plug it back in....will it remember all the windows you had open on the external monitor?
very innovative apple
Could you make a follow up to this about an ultrawide 2160 res screen please
Hello bro, have you ever tested the ipad connect to MSI MD24P or MD27P monitor? Is it properly supported?
Maybe it’s good to have an extra (Bluetooth) mouse and keyboard and have iPad nearby for the Pencil input only. I think it might make another sense to the workflow. Although having it connected through Magic Keyboard (as an easy dock for snapping on and off) might be adding more comfort as well. BUT, does that connection to the display work through keyboard’s USB-C too? Or is the on-keyboard port for charging only? Thanks 🙏🏻
this is actually a great idea!
Did you get hired by 9To5Mac? Congrats !!🎉🎈🎊
Como funciona el programa RD Client de Microsoft? Lo uso mucho para acceder a mis pc cuando estoy fuera de la oficina Gracias
🐬 Just waiting for the public beta - I have a portable monitor set up and ready to go!
I also think that is you put one app beside another like split screen it should turn to split screen not windows.
🐬 thanks as a new iPad Air M1 user this is what I hoped for from new IOS
What's that cool wallpaper ? How can I install it as well ? Thank you
I love your videos , is there a download link I can get that wallpaper or a website ? Tysm
Can you try fitness plus , does it show on screen metrics ?
Can you play games in window with another app next to it in stage manager? (Fore ample nba 2k and KZhead app)
Aside from stage manager the performance on my m1 ipd pro 19.9 in beta 3 is poor i constnatly get a dimmed brightness display, and i can;t use voice control, smart invert, and colour filters without it dimming. Espcially in games.
