  • Just an FYI. A 1955 blue Chevrolet (California license plate KPB076) was reported stolen in Marin County the same day as the escape, a claim corroborated by contemporaneous stories in the Humboldt Times and the San Francisco Examiner. The following day, a motorist in Stockton, California, 80 miles east of San Francisco, reported to the California Highway Patrol that he had been forced off the road by three men in a blue Chevrolet.

  • As far as the "microchip" myth goes, I'm willing to bet what really happened was a needle tip broke off due to someone being incompetent, and when the guy pulled it out of his arm he thought it was a microchip because he was paranoid enough to think there was a microchip in his arm to begin with. That or he was just flat out crazy or making stuff up for attention or to feed conspiracy theorists.

      @albr4@albr425 күн бұрын
    • If her dad was the assistant warden, she’s gonna stick to the “they drowned” narrative. It was a major screw up for all the staff at Alcatraz, and the narrative the prison took to save face is saying they drowned, as they had to maintain the idea that Alcatraz was escape proof. If they didn’t, Alcatraz would lose yet more funding, and the budget was already stretched incredibly thin. The engineers knew of the salt air corrosion in the cells and they didn’t have enough federal funding to fix it. I grew up in SF and I personally believe they made it. Idk ymmv

    @VashStarwind@VashStarwind27 күн бұрын
    • Just because they're smart doesn't mean they managed to make a perfectly sealed rubber raft in the dark and total silence. It's most likely the raft sprung a leak on the way and they drown. Again, the most damning evidence is that nobody's heard from any one of them since. None of their family, none of their friends. Not to mention the sheet of phone numbers that was recovered.

  • I remember a prison escape that was popular on the news about 10? years ago. They escaped and from my perspective, the main reason they got caught was because one of them was fat, out of shape, and had to consume alcohol along the way. Eliminate such idiotic behavior like this and actually work together, and it is reasonable to conclude that an escape from Alcatraz is, indeed, possible.

I don’t remember how they rescued him, but he was brought back in intact and alive. The next jail was formed of individual precast concrete room - each with a very narrow(!) window - bolted together as modular components. The view is comparatively poor; no longer looking out toward the river. No escape attempts noted yet. Get your sheets together; do not drop everything to escape!

At night there had to be a lot of snoring,caughing...the guards might be having conversations...the humming of the heating system etc. As for the chip thing...well let's just say that if the government did it, nobody would believe they did it because it's too "crazy". And that's why they don't even need to make up stories to hide it. Nobody believes it anyway even if you show them.

    • @@allanshpeley4284 Everyone always assumes contacting family or friends is the natural thing to do, but quite a lot of people aren't close to their family and don't have a lot of friends, and particularly people who end up in prison tend to get distanced by their families even more so. While some escapees almost certainly contact loved ones, I'm willing to bet as often as not, the ones who escape through an actual plan like this end up avoiding contacting anyone they used to know because it's an unnecessary risk. The only reason they might is if they thought they could get something out of it to make their escape easier. As for the deathbed thing, I'd wager most people don't see their deaths coming unless they die of long lasting sickness, so chances are good they'd never get the chance even if they wanted to. There's also of course the strong possibility that they'd have moved somewhere where even if they told someone, word would never get out to the rest of the world. I know if I escaped from the most secure prison, my first thought would be to make my way to another country far away with no extradition laws and even more ideally, where no one had a good means of communicating outside of whatever town I moved to.

    • I mean, if they were in prison and managed to plan far enough ahead to plant fake evidence, they might also be smart enough to not tell anyone at any point. That, or they might have moved somewhere remote and disconnected, to where telling some random person they once escaped from prison would never reach the civilized world. There's also the possibility that they died at some point in their lives from any number of things that caught them off guard, where they'd never have a chance to realize they were dying and tell anyone. Of course, there's also a good chance that they simply drowned, or caught an errant current that washed them far out to sea where they died of exposure.

  • There is strategically a shortage of blood. They could pay people more to donate blood, but then it wouldn't be worth as much, and they would have to pay people more and more often

  • The surest proof the prisoners never survived is that they were never seen again. These were men who wound up back in prison shortly after they got out over and over again. If they had made it they'd have gotten busted for something else after awhile.

  • On the topic of giving blood in the movie "Bruce almighty" Jennifer Aniston's character claims that they want her blood since she has a rare type (AB+) now while it is true that it is a rare type, no one wants that blood donated. It is next to useless as you can ONLY GIVE to AB+... which is a rare type. The blood most blood banks want is O=. Since that blood can be given to ANYONE. Now it is true that mor eoften tha not tehy will try to use the same blood type, however if worse comes to worse they will use O-- (or O+ If you have a positive blood type) Just a little tidbit. if you have O- and wish to help, donate.
