After Jodie Comer’s Olivier Award Win, “My Dad Got Free Lunch at His Local Pub”
No one was more excited for actor Jodie Comer’s big win at the Olivier Awards than her parents, who attended the afterparty and even got a free meal after bringing her trophy home to Liverpool. Previews for her new one-woman show on Broadway, “Prima Facie,” start April 11th at The Golden Theater.

She's not only gorgeous she's probably best actress I've seen in a long time.
She's the best acting I've ever seen.
*actress
@@anthonyriley7517 youre very wrong
You must be joking. My wife watches loads of films all the time and really takes an interest in quality drama from around the world. She does not think she is a good actress compared to many others and finds it laughable that she is lauded. The same applies to Stephen Graham- his poor Welsh accent is a case in point. Her face does not seem to demonstrate much expression, something I thought was a quality in any good actor.
@@anthonyriley7517 You cannot be serious.
She was amazing in Killing Eve, what fantastic show!🤩
They Really messed up the final
Eve lost me after the second season. One trick pony and so obvious.
She is so do much much than that. More serious stuff here in U.K. is outstanding
@@phoenix-xu9xj yes. Clearly.
@CWS and TKP 66-02 agreed.. Still haven't watched 4 season till the end.
Love the way she adapts her accent because the Americans wouldn’t understand her scouse properly, you can still hear it coming through 😂 great actor and lovely person.
Our Jodie, the finest actor of her generation.
Seconded from the wirral peninsula, bounded by the mersey and the Dee and the Irish sea...geography and rhyme...❤😊😊
I saw Prima Facie in cinema and it was just phenomenal. Jodie deserves every award she wins, seriously the best actress I've ever seen.
She's incredible!
Here in the U.S ? I looked for it, but was unaware where it was shown.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 if you want to see it I can send you the link ;)
chockablock...full up
@@KindCountsDeb3773 Have you seen it yet? I watched it in Cologne, but it was a one time event.
Fell in love with her in "Killing Eve"; she can do more with a simple look/facial expression than most actors can manage with a full-blown monologue!
She seems like a lovely upbeat person. Best of luck to her and her ongoing career.
I got tickets for Prima Facie later this month! Can’t wait to see her do her thing live and in person!
You won’t be disappointed she is amazing.
You will be left speechless.
It...she... is amazing.
It is breathtaking
prepare to have the breath taken away from you. She is STUNNING in it.
This is the BEST thing you’ll see on Broadway this year. She is unbelievable
She was ABSOLUTELY brilliant in The Last Duel.
To bad the rest of the movie was just so Meh. And what was that all that weird hair about
@@MrJimheeren Nah. The movie is easily one of Scott's very best. Disagree.
Saw a live screening of Prima Facie. It is utterly incredible, she is wonderful in it. One of the best theatrical performances I’ve seen in a while. As she is the sole cast member, it’s astounding the amount of work she had/has to do. As an actor myself she has my upmost respect and admiration. If you get the chance go and see the play.
i wish i could go😭
Damn she looks like a Greek goddess here. She’s such a phenomenal actress as well. She’s going to continue to have a fantastic career ahead of her
I'm truly routing for her to winning the Tony Awards this year. I watched Prima Facie on demand and she nailed it. Such a powerfull message and open-mouthed performance on the stage 👏🏾👏🏾
She did!
@@JustBeingAwesome Yeah!! Well deserved!!
I loved her in Free Guy & Killing Eve! Excellent actress ❤
Lots more like Jodie here on Merseyside aka Ukraine on the river mersey for Eurovision 😊😊😊
I wish Stephen Graham had gotten some applause from the audience. What an amazing actor. I hope he gets the right role that will bring him an Oscar because he deserves it.
He and Jody starred in the "the help" about Covid hitting in England and assisted living patients. It got rave reviews.
@@KindCountsDeb3773That was one brilliant movie. A dementia patient, Steve Graham & his carer, Jodie Comer. Loved it.
I’m not usually a fan of theatre but I watched a live stream of her in prima facie and OMG I thought I’d seen great acting but she was absolutely unbelievable. The best performance by anyone I have ever seen. I was in SHOCK.
Where was the cinema: I watched to see IF it would be in U.S. , then got injured, hospital and never saw.
Jodie is so lovely and a wonderful actress. I wish this interview was longer!
she's just seems like the absolute nicest person 🥺
Never was there ever a more genuine person sharing her talents with us all.
Isn't she just a ray of sunshine!?
She absolutely is ☀️
She is one of the best actresses I have ever seen. To see her so approachable makes her just that more special.
The first season of Killing Eve is fantastic. Never a dropped note.
I could watch her all day
I could just LISTEN to her all day. Very lovely.
She’s going places ❤️ such a beautiful down to earth person
Prima facie is absolutely incredible. She is amazing, not only her acting but the way she moves herself, the props the stage sets. She is brilliant
Absolutely!
And now Tony Winner Jodie Comer!!! So well deserved. Amazing performance in such an important play. Congrats to all the Prima Facie Team. Well done! ❤
Utterly gorgeous and one of the best actresses in the world. What a combination!
Prima Facie is phenomenal. Saw it twice in London.
Prima Facie was truly groundbreaking. Jodie is so amazing and it's great seeing her get the recognition she deserves ❤
Thank you featuring one of the most talented actresses of our time! I’m so excited to keep watching her career. She’s terrific. Hollywood, please develop some truly great roles for Jodie Comer!
Her "Villanelle" is top notch! A wonderful actress!
Unbelievably talented. Treated my ears with more accents than I could possibly have believed in a few minutes. Killing Eve was just a showcase for a small sample of what she can do. The world is at her feet, good luck to her.
she is so talented 🎉 I saw PF at the cinema … that was intense and her presence .. just wow
Totally agree. I was blown away by her performance!! 🙌
Was it sent to cinema in the U.S.? If so, I didn't see the announcement. I saw a National Theatre stream of "a streetcar named desire" and was grateful to see a West End play. Very inclusive experience.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 On July 21, 2022, The National Theater showed a taped performance of Prima Facie, starring Jodie Comer, at movie theatres across the United States. Now that she’s doing Prima Facie on Broadway, perhaps they will do the same thing again.
She's like a definition of beauty
She was radiant and mesmerizing in The Last Duel. Such a talent.
I could listen to her all day long! She is so well spoken, i love it
I saw the streaming version of "Prima Facie" last year - she should be making extra shelf space for her Tony right now. A breathtaking, shattering performance.
Beautiful, talented, humble yet strong personality. The whole package.
The guy who coined the term "No such thing as a free lunch" clearly didn't have an award winning daughter!
It's from an old Robert Heinlein novel.
i love her dad, he basically did the same thing to her bafta too. Took it on a pub tour haha

What an absolutely delightful young lady, and she looks positively smashing!
she does so many accents in killing eve and never did her own slip out unless that was the character. Such a talent.
Wow, she’s a beautiful lady❤
Jacques Le Gris would agree.
@@TheWelchProductions dark but okay😂😂
She was INCREDIBLE in Killing Eve!! Amazing actress!
Saw Prima Facie when it was shown in a movie theater event last year. All I can say is she is IMMENSELY talented to keep that type of energy up and running for two+ hours.
So strange to hear her speak with her natural accent, I'm so used to her voice in Killing Eve! And she is stunningly beautiful! Great dress too! And in Australian English we'll also use the term 'chockas'. Means it is packed out wall to wall.
That's not even her natural accent. She makes it more posh in interviews so people can understand her lol
@@kjvankirk5070 Yeah, that's true I guess. But don't we all posh it up in certain situations?
@@MichaelSorensen-bl3ec Oh, for sure -- no one recognizes me when I use my "customer service voice," haha! I was caught off guard when I first heard her speak outside of her Killing Eve accents, then I was even more surprised when I heard her drop the posh and go into her thick Liverpudlian accent.
@@kjvankirk5070 So true. I've had to learn to adopt many levels of accents through my profession, as I have had to deal with many other nationalities. Try speaking with a heavy Danish or Australian accent to Americans and they just become confused!
Been crushing on Jodie since Villianelle.
Wot's not to love about Jodie? Brilliant actress ❤ (Killing Eve, The Last Duel, Help, Free Guy, Dr Foster, Thirteen, My Mad Fat Diary and more). Bubbly character! Believe she's toned down on her Scouse accent for this interview. Can't wait for Prima Facie in NYC 🙏🏻🤩
Yeah, (I'm American) I LOVED her accent in the interview I watched on my Killing Eve dvd bonus material. It's definitely different now than a couple of years ago..
Yeah, she's way more Scouse when you see her on UK television. Definitely wound it back for a US audience.
@@alistairmscott I bet any time back home and she packs on the accent from being there.
She will win the Tony for Prima Facie.
She better had! 😊
Stephen Graham is another fantastic Liverpudlian actor. They were both in Help together which was a programme about a nursing home during the pandemic.
I saw Prima Facie two days ago and I can't get it out of my head. She holds your attention for 100 minutes - a spectacularly talented artist and the play really packs a punch.
If Jodie does have a shelf with a light it will need to have room for a Tony and, no doubt, an Oscar or two. She is a phenomenal acting talent.
What a lovely person she is.
Lots of people are good looking. Lots of them are talented. Jodie is those things and seems truly delightful and just nice.
she is absolutely incredible and such a role model. I saw her in Prima Facie in london on the west end after being a fan for YEARS, and she was just amazing :) I love her and what she stands for
She is such a lovely, grounded, nice person on top of all the talent she obviously has. So happy for her.
This play is MUST see!! It was absolutely fantastic, eye opening and so impactful.
Her picture should be in a dictionary next to a definition of lovely.
She's the most talanted actress ever ❤️🫶🏻
The moment he mentioned she has a lovely accent, she went more Liverpool and I love that she got comfortable with it
Amazing actress and if you like her work.....she is also fantastic in The White Princess.
I watched Prima Facie and I can't believe how she remembered 2 hours of lines and how she acts with such emotion night after night. Choca for busy/the place is full, is the shortened version of Choca block.
She might be my fav actress right now
Who are the other contenders?
What I love is that in all her success, you can hear her excitement more when she talks about her team and her parents.
It's wonderful to listen to her natural accent in comparison to her incredible vocal talent. She has a future of unforgettable roles ahead of her, what a delight!
Jodie Comer is RARE FIND of talent, beauty and versatility
I'm glad she's going to see Springsteen. I'm quite sure she'll find him to be... "boss."
Ha! 😅
I came here to say that!
I was really mad that Stephen didn't make this joke 😅
she's sang his praises (ugh) before and is a longtime fan.
Beautiful woman and so talented. I wish her all the best in her career!
This is her only second professional stage performance, the first was in Scarborough🤔
I just fell in love with this woman, never seen befor this video. She is magnificent.
Watch Killing eve!
Seeing her this week and am prepared to be absolutely blown away. She's incredible so honored to watch her act.
Chocka is short for chock a block meaning full.
I was thinking "Chock full of..." but same thing.
@@NotSoMuchFrankly just finished going to the loo.. dont look in the hole, it's choka chocolate
I always thought it was an Aussie saying.
@@GC79 Nope. Never heard the term "chookas"...& I'm an Aussie. Chock a block is what we say. Curious...are you Aussie?
In Australia we also say "chockers".
4:40 Stephen Graham is an amazing actor (with a strong scouse accent), he played Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire, he was Tony Pro in the Irishman and in Gangs Of New York, Peaky Blinders, This Is England, Pirates Of The Caribbean too
Just love him ! Glad he and Jody are friends.
The greatest actor of her generation. Absolutely brilliant.
why am i so in love with her 😭
How remarkably talented she is and how delightfully capable as an interviewee
Great interview with our lovely Jodie. World’s best actress not known by most. Go see her in Prima Facie! Don’t miss out! SENİ SEVİYORUZ JODİE ❤
NewYorkers don't miss Prima Facie (pronounced Preema Faseea; it's Latin!) it's one of the best plays ever seen in London and her performance is mind blowing!!!
My fav actress. I saw her filming in Somerset, got some pics, she is lovely, and completely unpretentious.
This girl has so much talent it’s unbelievable, good luck in the US Jodie 👍 🇬🇧
Jodie is the real deal, fantastic actor, super gorgeous and as a Brit I’m telling you she’s dialled her scouse accent down to about a 2 out of 10 for the American audience
Jodie finally getting wider recognition 🫶🏻✨

What an amazing talent!!
Hard to disagree..biased merseysider❤❤
Jodie is one of the best British actresses, she’s going to the top ❤
Jodie is utterly charming and polite. She will go far in her career.
She was great in Dr. Foster
It is often said xx is the ‘best actor of their generation’ - this time it’s true. She was phenomenal in Prima Facie in London, I envy anyone who gets to see her in New York. I’m also glad that she kept her accent - it some how makes her characters journey so much more poignant.

Her accent has probably softened. I’ve heard thicker accents than Jodie’s. Her dress is “the boss” ❤❤. 10/10 Jodie.

It takes a really good actress for such a nice person to play such an evil psychopath! She did it better than anyone.

I love Villanelle because of Jodie’s outstanding acting!
Best actress & amazing play. Love her energy - gravitas
