Idk, you don’t often hear celebrities acknowledging their privilege without some snide comment about how they still have it hard. He really earned my respect with that comment alone.

    @60aquarius2@60aquarius2 Жыл бұрын
    • well it should be clear, that that is not the position that most actors are in. Until you have a name for yourself and a porfolio, you do not get to pick and choose all of your projects, not get reached out for roles without auditining. So those actors are not lying. Most have to work multiple odd jobs to support their acting for the off chance that they get a role. Only A list and maybe some before are in their position.

    • really? Ive heard him in interviews talk like he was happy to be out of "the machine" as he called it. that huge blockbuster spotlight. As a talented actor I would think Spiderman was too restricting for him. He has since done so many wide ranging acclaimed roles. I just cant imagine taht Spiderman fulfilled him acting wise. I do think it gave him some financial security which has enabled him to choose roles that excite him rather than pay him huge money. Same with Daniel radcliffe & Robert pattinson. Thats the best part of doing blockbusters...the paychecks. Its why you ideally want a career where you can do the occasional huge film & also the smaller awards type ones.

    • It’s so funny when it comes to actors, and americans, completely unrelated, but they both just compliment and praise each other all the time. Like, sometimes it’s of course very fake and shallow, but mostly, it just seems so normal for some reason. We have a different thing here in Denmark where I live, which is actually a law, but more like a social norm, cause nobody’s ever been punished for breaking that law. But basically, Danes are, in general, but ao much the younger generation anymore, but very modest, humble, and people don’t really like hearing other people bragging, but also, nobody ever brags, cause the social norm is like “you are not better than the crowd”. You can still recieve praise or compliments, but you just accept them humbly.

Maybe I'll get to be friends with Zendaya someday and we can bond over that love for what shows can do. Embellishing your language doesn’t really give you extra points on the internet like it does when you have a word count to reach on an assignment. Is your point that people only like Zendaya because she’s attractive? If that is what you mean, then that is your opinion and I’d have to respectfully disagree. Like the og comment mentioned, she’s been in the industry for over 12 years so a lot of people might’ve grown up with her, rooted for her to succeed, seen themselves in her etc. It’s not all about looks. Danny Devito is loved as an actor and he’s not conventionally attractive.

  • When Zendaya speaks on a person who's struggling with something she's conveying on screen but is struggling to convey in their own personal lives, that's exactly what happened with me. I had been struggling with opiate addiction for a decade and had only been sober less than a year and had just been diagnosed with CPTSD and Bipolar II when the special two middle episodes came out. And I asked my dad to sit down with me and watch Rue's special episode, and I finally felt that I had a way to convey my mind frame while I was actively using and pre diagnosis. The suicidal ideation, the anger outbursts, the literal words "I'm not planning on being around for that long." That's exactly where I had been. And now I've been sober over two years and attend regular therapy and am on the proper medication regiment for my mental health and the entire show is just so incredibly cathartic to me. As was Under the Banner of Heaven. I was never Mormon but I was raised Christian and I can associate with facing these things that were breaking down my faith in these stories I had been raised to believe to be true. When the reality is that they were meant to be lessons, and lessons created by men who had ideals of their own and used their writings as an end to justify their own means. So now I'm agnostic and sober and both of these shows and actors have affected me a great deal. I feel lucky to live in a time when such profound art is being made by such deep wells of artists and creators. To speak these universal truths in ways that can have such a genuine impact on even a single person, it's a gift. It hurts to hear them say you know, there are people who are doing these other worthwhile things that are positively helping the world, like being a lung doctor... Yes, that matters, of course! But art is what we turn to when we seek.... anything, really. Any emotion. Something to relate to. Something to inspire us. Something to make us think or change our way of thinking. Art challenges us and these incredible artists not only perform their asses off but also hold a mirror up to society and challenge us to see ourselves clearly. And that is worth so much more than what they're giving themselves credit for. Art is what makes the world go round.

  • I think sometimes I forget acting is a job. The way that society talks about the risk and can make it feel like a “fake” job. Watching Zendaya and Andrew G talk about how they get into the character and the individual way they do their jobs shows how real the job actually is. It might not be serving coffee, treating an illness or teaching a class of children but it’s just as real as being a barista, doctor or teaching. It’s just different but it can be just as taxing on them, influential to others or healing. This is definitely something the world needed to see cause these are kind of conversations that don’t happen on camera but I feel like probably happens in every work place. It makes the job have just as real as yours or mine if you aren’t an actor. It also shows how hard people work regardless of what carer they have and we shouldn’t look down on the jobs we do or compare it to others because every job is different and every job has it’s easy part and it’s hard parts. There are people that already know this, but there are others that don’t, so it’s refreshing and brilliant that we can see content like this being created not just bullshit drama written in media turning two professionals against each other or digging into someone’s private life. It feels like healthy behaviour and I’m here for it.

As someone who is working on 8 years clean & sober this whole story with Rue was truly beautiful, so without of a doubt the Cassie stuff was not great. But the real story of being locked into possible sexual slavery or forced sex work is VERY VERY real, where I am from (Atlantic City, Philly area) we literally get sucked into the strip club world and I was a sex worker as a young age from 18 to 25, I was not forced but I was, had a great upbringing but with addiction and past trauma like the we get sucked into that world. So rue being possibly sucked into that dark world was so real and I truly loved that they showed this could of be 10000% possible!

  • If Zendaya deserved an Emmy for the first season, she should most definitely be at least nominated for the second one, say what you want about the 2nd season, her performance was utterly incredible and does what I think is the true art of acting, you could feel her pain, sorrow struggle you could understand her erratic behavior even if you agreed or not you could feel what Rue was feeling such a nuance impressive performance! specially in ep 5 like Andrew said Zendaya is truly a very gifted actress! ❤

You’re always hearing stories about actors not wanting to work with other actors or they absolutely hated this love scene with this person and couldn’t wait till the shoot was over with….. it’s refreshing to see two actors be real and vulnerable in discussing their careers like this. They’re both such tremendous actors but equally tremendous people.

And take it from a young girl from south Africa who has watched her since shake it up i mean she's been here and i believe she deserves all the popularity coz she's incredible, I'm a dark skin girl who has seen little to no representation in Hollywood but the moment a black girl in any shape of form gets hype I'm here for it co she may be biracial but she represents a part of me so beautifully, so humble and i love she's not portrayed as this hood "black" or "biracial". @DreamyCityGirl@DreamyCityGirl Жыл бұрын
    • But sometimes film is also biased to paint a certain story in a certain light. We can’t base our knowledge of a religion or culture by just a single narrative. There’s so much context and history missing, so it paints only the dark side of human failure and then portrays it as the representation of the entire religion. So just because it shows a single dark moment doesn’t mean it’s the truthful portrayal of the majority that live and dedicate their lives to the religion.. representation matters on all sides.
