  • We used to have a GSD/Malinois mix and normally a slip collar would suffice but she weighed 35 Kilo (81 Pounds) and my husband weighs 52 Kilo (116 Pounds) and it worked 99% of the time but when she saw a rabbit it wasn't enough and my husband did a swan dive. He didn't need stitches but he looked like somebody had beat him up. She was a one man (well woman in this case) dog but most of the time she listened to my husband too. One of those prong collars would have made my husband's life easier. Unfortunately they're prohibited in Sweden.

  • If you ever come to the states I need first dibs on you helping my reactive/territorial dog. 😂 I've gone through 2 trainers already. First 1 I had to fire for cruelty. I need a trainer who is as educated as you!

  • What do you think about really small dogs what tool is the best one? I have a 12 week old Jack Russell

    • Really depends on the dog. In my experience most terriers can be very intense, especially if you’re dealing with reactivity or aggression. I would suggest trying to teach with a martingale first and use plenty of food to get them doing whatever it is you need them to do. Only change equipment when you are finding that the collar you are using is truly ineffective through thorough trail in training. You can get slip collars or leads that are 6mm or thinner and Herm Sprenger make small sizes in prong collars too!

    • @@balanceddoguk I have one more question i read about that collars can collapse small breeds trachea is that true?

      @PenguinsTechStuff@PenguinsTechStuff12 күн бұрын
    • @@PenguinsTechStuff collars can collapse any dog’s trachea if used inappropriately. A small dog may be more fragile but we adjust how we handle them much like how you would play with a small dog differently than a larger dog, you adjust the way you do that according to the size of them. Same with a lead and collar

  • I'm not sure where you got this obscene information regarding different types of torture for dogs. Don't you like dogs. ? You are talking negative reinforcement to folk who think you know what you are talking about. I can see that as I read their comments. I''m a dog behaviourist and I abhor the types of collars you are suggesting amateurs use on their dogs. Prong collars? - you have to be joking or mad. Positive reinforcement is the only safe, sensible and kind way to teach dog behaviour. Believe me folks, don't do this if you love your dog.

    • Hey, I absolutely love dogs and am proud to have worked with other a thousand of them over the last 6 years. Positive reinforcement is the BEST way to teach dog behaviour but it’s not the only way and as I want to continue helping ALL dogs I will continue to give the advice that I know has the best chance at achieving that goal. I’ve seen MANY dogs be trained with advice that claim to be “science based” and “kind to the dog” but those dogs live a life in constant stress, fear and confusion which in my opinion is “torture”. You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m sure if you made your own content voicing it people would listen and you might help them through that. Not through ranting in other peoples comment section 🤷‍♂️
