  • Although he joined the gang at the beginning, his true heart of fighting the devil has never changed. Even on his last breathe, he still never give in. This scene is gold.

  • Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer were two of my favorite films around this time. Western films have never really been able to fully capture that perfect mixture of action and slapstick comedy that makes those films so hilarious and entertaining. By the time this scene takes place, I was fully invested in the Lovers as characters, so when they do battle I felt the stakes. More importantly, I cared.

  • Always loved the bit where the Beast twists the husbands arm and messes him up and when he sees the same about to happen to his love he counteracts the twist to stop the same happening to her. Just great choreography.

    • Well, the fighters in these are meant to be the modern adaptation of Wu Xia, which is old Chinese story about warriors of old time with unique fighting skills. Inna sense it is like book/manga/manhwa adaptation.

But these four plus Kung Fu Hustle are must watch, all of them) Jackie Chan playes in his own league, so his movies are excluded in this list.

  • It's too hard for me to watch this movie. I always laugh so hard, it hurts. Interestingly, though it's supposed to be a Stephen Chow movie, my 3 favorite characters are The Beast, The Landlady, and The Landlord. This movie is hilarious. The Landlady said after she turned of the water, "Water doesn't just fall from the clouds."

    • Kalau orang Asia (termasuk Indonesia) banyak yang paham siapa Yoko dan Bibi Lung itu, tapi kalau orang barat (yang butuh subtitle bahasa Inggris) jarang yang kenal. Jadi yang dipakai di subtitle bahasa Inggris ya karakter dari budaya barat, yaitu Paris dan Helen dari legenda Troya, supaya lebih nyambung 🙏
