Hearing him talk about his career brought back so many brilliant memories. Best midfield player to play for United in my opinion, horribly misused when playing for England, could do anything from controlling the tempo and literally any kind of pass to absolute belter goals. What a player...

  • Even as a Liverpool fan I have to give my respect to him. Great servant and an underappreciated legend. I only really started watching football after 2004 but I still vividly remember Scholes in that blue away shirt flinging 60 yard balls to the feet of Giggs and Rooney. Time seemed to slow down when he had the ball. Who can forget the screamer against Barca in '08.

  • When he came back, he had an iffy game against City. But just him being in squad dragged a squad that wasn't very good into a league winning position. They got pipped right at the line, but I have no doubt they would have been 16 points off that without him. And that was the twilight Scholes. The manager and the players welcomed him back with open arms, and that almost got another title. Following year he was edge of squad with some injuries and I think age getting up there, but they won the league. An amazing player, humble, and like all good red devils, not just pretty football, he had no issue putting the boot in. In the latter part of his career, he played quarter back using his feet. Pinging balls round the pitch to players feet at 50, 60, 70, yards with missile guided precision. Special. Magic. Awesome. The premier league level has dropped. But in the pinnacle days, he was right up there.

I played in goal and Aaron gave me a little kick at one point when I got the ball on the ground haha. At the end of the party, Paul was signing all of our shirts and well...I support Arsenal, so he was a little weirded out by the fact I still wanted him to sign my Arsenal shirt, but he still did and I still have the photo of me and Paul together. I eventually decided to cut the signature out of my shirt, which became far too small for me and give it to my younger brother, a United fan, who missed the party due to being elsewhwere.

  • What about the Volley he scored in the shirt he was wearing though? Some players can't control the ball from that height let alone volley it crossbar and in..
