I mean just lean back and think about in what an amazing age we are living in!!!* Federer: 20GS Nadal: 20GS Djokovic: 18GS (soon 20 as well) So that means we are BLESSED to watch those three legends play against each other. Those three amazing players are soon all on the same stage (20 GS titles). What an era.. damn!!! Being a Federer fan, I have to congrats Novak for his 18th title!! He already is in the history books, being THE IRON MAN of minds already!! I respect all players and hope we can enjoy them even longer!

    • Yeah, I was just thinking yesterday how lucky I am to witness all of this, the greatest tennis era with the best 3 players. It’s such a blessing when you think about it, that is why I don’t like all these debates about who is the best because in my opinion it’s really hard to tell who is. This is what makes tennis special from the other sports - that it has 3 all time best players, instead of just 1.

  • Novak didn't just prove he's king of Australia ... He's king of returns as well some of Meddy's shots and serves was very good but Djokovic returns are so accurate that he can literally return the ball on the line and win the point. He's flipped the whole game of serving returning in tennis imo. Most players want to keep the ball in play for a return and start a rally... Novak he wants to win the point on the return. The one quote from zverev I defo agree with is 'Its never easy serving to Djokovic'. Got to give credit to him cuz players on the tour seem to sleep on the returning aspect of the game. I don't think anyone works harder on returns than Novak and he has been rewarded for it.

    • Probably, but Federer got more HC titles though (71 against Novak’s 61...so ten less in total, Novak also has 1 less title at ATP finals than Federer - 5 against 6! On the flip side Djokovic is now ahead on HC grand slams - 12 against 11! Novak has 9 AO and 3 USO titles, while Federer has 6 AO and 5 USO titles! However 5 is the current open era tournament title record at the USO and it is shared by three tennis greats all from different eras - Connors, Sampras, the finally Federer! Djokovic is 2 short of that and imho that is a huge point in Federer’s favour as well as USO is the biggest hard court event of the year! (AO for example is 2nd biggest!) Plus Federer lost only 2 finals of 7, that he played at the USO, while Djokovic lost 5!! out of 8! That is gigantic “duuuude” moment for someone, who positions himself as hard court GOAT! Like i said him vs. Federer is not that certain deciding who is the surface GOAT! It is way trickier (at least statistically!) to determine, than people care to admit! And this is coming from Djokovic’s fan!

    • @@vinichenzo4811 Catching up with Fededer (and hopefully eventually surpassing him!) for overall HC title tally is going to be challenging for sure...but even bigger challenge is to win 2 more ATP finals titles, which Djokovic hasn’t done since that famous 2015...I don’t think Djokovic can win ATP finals anymore with all those next gen giving him so much trouble (plus Thiem too!), but he still have 6 out of 9 masters events in the calendar, that are played on hard yearly, not to mention lesser tournaments, where he usually good in (like all those Asian Swing and/or Middle Eastern 250 and 500 events...) I think it is still possible to surpass Fededer’s 71, but for that he himself needs to stop adding (i just don’t see it honestly...ATP is in such a miserable shape currently, that a 40 years old grandpa can surf through the draw full of inconsistent mugs and chokers without even breaking a sweat in some 250 or 500 pts event so...)

Novak only has 1 or 2 matches a year where he can enter that level, and he seems to always reserve it for the Australian open final. We saw how he entered that level against Rafa here in 2019 too. Medvedev played just as good, if not better than he's done in all his previous 20 matches win streak, but Novak played a complete game at the highest level with outstanding deep returns, accurate serves, superb volleys, and various shot selections hitting all angles on the court. Long story short, Medvedev received a hands-on tutorial from the Master of grand slam hard courts.

Watch again the tournament in 2019, and check the tactic approach from Nadal, from the agresive game in the whole tournament to a defensive (bad choice) one in the final.

    • @@georgedadon I'm analizing the match, while u r analizing results and the names. Nole is a great player, but for now the serve still depends just on the server. If in the final Daniil didn't made good first services it's just his fault. Sport can't b analized just from the perspective of the name and the result, which most people do. I just analize Daniil with his own skills, I haven't compared him with anyone. And regarding Rafa, the same. I analize the tactic he used during the whole tournament with the tactic he used in the final, which seen afterwards was a mistake. Of course playing vs Nole requires an extra, Rafa's team looked for a strategy and decided to change to a defensive game and failed, which is also part of the game.

    • I think that when he got 20 GS fans and media will respect him more than today or yesterday. In 1-2 years Nadal and Novak will have more than Roger. And then, media can't say Roger is the best and goat becouse at that moment he will be the 3th. If you understand me. At the end it's going to be that Roger played in Rafa-Novak era. In 10 years Roger got only 4GS, Rafa 11, Novak 17. Roger won zero from 2012-2017.

    • @@petarpan5886 As Rafa is my favourite there is no doubt that the best player and GOAT will always be Roger, number of GS don't matter, his game was and still is the best. And if we wanna compare GS, the rivals should also be compared, in his time he was fighting vs Sampras, Agassi, Del Potro, Wawrinka, Murray (all GS winners) plus Rafa and Nole. Next gen can't compare with this players and many others like Nalbandian, Soderling... In the best years of Nole, Del Potro was injured, Murray began to retire, Rafa suffered depression and he was losing with players with ranking above the 100 and Federer was missing too, last years there haven't been any good rivals so it has been a highway for Rafa and him.

    • @@AtmosphericAtmosphere If u consider best years of Roger, the time till Rafa came, you r talking about 3 years. Then he reigned with Del Potro, Wawrinka, Murray et. While Novak has been nº1 just when the other top players dissapeared: for 3 years in early 10s and another 3 years in the last ones, that's double time than Roger. Last Wimblendon Nole played worse and struggled to beat a 38 year old Roger. Same happened at Wimblendom 2018 semis vs Rafa, he won playing worse. He wins cos his elastic body is like chewing gum and he's the less injured top player.
