With all of your wonderfully crafted points and supplied data to back it up, it's hard to imagine you as a six figure car collector because it looks like you can't afford to buy a capital letter. 2. The engine was somewhat of a shitbox and deserved to be smothered in the womb and that's being polite. 3. Are you an engineer or do you at least own a Tesla or similar? Tell us about your vast knowledge after the buzz from the Coors light wears off. The car in the movie, Back to the Future, was supposed to be very high tech. To drive a De Korean that is quiet, very fast and futuristic would suit the movie that made the car renowned the world over. The electric motor would accomplish that. I'm sorry that you didn't catch that. I feel bad, so here are some gifts: 1. ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ. These are called capital letters. 2. ........................................................... These are called periods. 3. These are called spaces. The above will help you with proper sentence structure. Use as many as you like to aid your already excellent keyboarding skills. • That's like before the 60's where there were almost zero regulations with automobiles. As time progressed new emission laws started to popup, and a lot of engines in this time frame were heavily restricted to meet those standards. Took a bit to create engines that made decent performance at these standards.

The EPA requires newly manufactured cars to meet the emissions standards in effect when the car was built, regardless of the age of the design. This means that a new DeLorean must meet 21st century emissions standards. The junky engine the DeLorean originally came with and DMC has on hand does not meet current regulations. As of 2017 DMC was trying to source new engines that would pass muster.

Redesign the doors, engine braking system and interior...On the outside it would look like the original but underneath the veneer it would be very modern - the lights would be LED. In my opinion a retro fit like this is true to film that inspired so many people's nostalgia for the car. • The engine is called the PRV V6. Which stands for 'Peugeot / Renault / Volvo'. It was a joint project between all three car companies, and was first used by all three brands in various models from '75 or '76 onward. The PRV V6 has also been used in lots of other cars, mainly sports coupes, (inlcuding the DeLorean, of course) by other much smaller brands over the decades. Sometimes with a turbo, sometimes even with a twin turbo, (which Renault did on its own Renault 25 Biturbo and then the later Renault Safrane Biturbo in the '90s). While one of the more memorable sports coupes/brands that's used it was the Alpine brand rear-engined fibreglass-bodied coupes, (sometimes referred to as the 'Renault Alpine'. Arguably the closest French equivalent to a Lotus but with the engine layout of a Porsche 911) which finally got the engine as standard from about '84 through to the mid '90s, with the option of turbo. *[Side-note: after about a 20 year absence, Alpine has been recently revived as a brand - but has changed to a mid-engined layout, no more 'plus 2' rear seats, more compact size, and a smaller but boosted engine. Aimed to compete with the Porsche Cayman, Alfa Romeo 4C, Lotus Elise, etc). While due to Peugeot buying out Citroen in around '76, Citroen also got the PRV V6, eventually, in the top spec models of it's upper size cars, (starting with the XM from '89, then the Xantia, C5, C6, etc). The DeLorean really needed a turbo, (or supercharger) as either standard or option right from the start. Due in no small part to its heavy stainless steel body, (but at least that keeps the body panels rust-free!!!). It's crazy they don't now offer the option of an upgraded DeLorean, (as suggested above) with the performance it should have to go with the looks, rather than just selling it 'as it was' when new way back in the early '80s.

Uneven firing, noisey, 170 cubic inches of leaks, bad cams, blown head gaskets and bad timing chains held together by tiny corroded bolts. . Maybe ok for a collector, or a trailer queen, not something you would want to take on Holiday.

    • Well maybe a "second" hand delorean will cost about 20-50k but I seen the video on youtube on how someone bought a whole warehouse full of original/new delorean parts so the buyer tried to revive the delorean and was reportedly wanting 100k for each new delorean put together

  • It would be really cool to stick in a power train that would make its performance (Ecoboost V6?) match the hype that came with the car when it first came out! It would propel the car to 88 MPH much faster and would be a fair consolation prize seeing we have yet to receive the hover conversion kits they promised us back in 2015!
