  • I bought this album right when it came out & it completely blew me away. So much so that I sent Phil a fan letter, only one I've ever sent. He sent me a letter in return with a large watercolor painting he'd made, still on my wall all these years later. It was really fun watching a person close to the age I was then experience this record for the first time.

  • There’s a track on Phil’s previous album (It Was Hot, We Stayed In The Water) called “The glow,” so that’s why this album is Pt. 2. Every Microphones and Mount Eerie album is connected in a way. There are tons of tracks that reference other tracks.

  • Please listen to Mount Eerie, as its the sequel to this album and continues right where this album leaves off, and some people even say its better than this album.

    • I hadnt heard to mount eerie before this comment and i thought this was referring to continuing the concepts of glow pt 2 or it coming after the album but the first track literally goes from my warm blood

  • You’ve really gotta do the “last” classic Microphones album, “Mount Eerie”. It picks up directly where The Glow Pt. 2 leaves off, not just musically, but thematically, except it takes the story to a more complex, life after death, dark sort of trip. It’s more experimental than The Glow Pt. 2, but it really is a stunning and beautiful listening experience.

  • My favorite album of all time. I don't normally get effected by music, but the first time I put this album on I was driving home after having a rough day emotionally. As soon as the title track started playing I had to pull over because it just made me cry. To this day, the only song to ever make me cry on first listen.

  • I'd recommend the album "What It Takes To Move Forward" by the band Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate). It's vastly different from the glow part 2 but the same in the sense that it gives a profound and deep response through musicality and words. It has themes of heartbreak, death, life, memories, etc. Really emotional music paired with very poetic lyricism. Sad to see that the band no longer exists but happy that they made this masterpiece throughout it's lifetime. Though if you want an album that is the same as this in it's acoustic atmosphere and in the same calibre then I'd recommend "Idyll Opus" from the band Adjy. I dare say that this album has the best lyricism of any album of all time. Coupled with delicate musicality and profound themes such as meaning in oneself and in life, rebirth, love, death, The will to forget and let go, etc, I can only say that this album is a treasure trove for music and literature lovers since even after all of that, it narrates a joyful yet tragic story throughout it's runtime. I could not recommend both of these enough. If you want to react to this album, I'd recommend going to genius in order to understand the incredibly complex and brilliant story and lyricsm. I could not recommend these both enough.

  • An album I think you would also enjoy is yankee hotel foxtrot by the band wilco. A classic album that also came out in the early 2000s and also has themes of heartbreak in it. very poetic.

    • I've seen them twice, the first time when they were touring for YHF (which I agree is classic), and then just last year. It was really interesting seeing a band again after 20 years of touring and growth, I think the live show has only gotten better.

  • 26:43 The reason the album starts with the relationship already over is because it's actually a continuation of the relationship he describes in the song "The Glow" and in other songs on his previous album, "It Was Hot, We Stayed In The Water".

  • You’re doing some super obscure albums compared to other reaction channels. I love what you’re doing. I would suggest looking into the Portland Oregon band, Ages and Ages. Either their first or second album. They’re a cool little band. And since you did The Microphones, you might want to check out Headphones. Headphones(not The Headphones) is a side project of David Bazan, the man behind Pedro The Lion.
