🦇 Holy Bat-fans! 🎥 Join us in this exciting discussion surrounding the recent rumors about Dick Grayson Robin being in The Batman Part 2 and why this is perfect because Robin is the missing piece in Matt Reeves' dark and gritty Batman universe, starring the incredible Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
For too long, the character of Dick Grayson, aka Robin, has been overlooked in Batman movies. It's almost as if filmmakers have been hesitant to include him in a Batman film following the infamous 1997 Batman & Robin. But in this video, we'll explore the vital role that Robin plays in Bruce Wayne's journey towards becoming a true hero, and why he's the perfect addition to "The Batman Part II."
🤝 Robin as Bruce's Protege:
One of the most compelling aspects of Robin's character is his role as Batman's protege. He provides Bruce Wayne with a unique opportunity to mentor someone who has shared similar tragic life experiences. Through Robin, Batman can guide and shape a young hero, offering him an alternative to the path of vengeance that Bruce himself has walked. This dynamic not only adds depth to Batman's character but also reflects his desire to prevent others from enduring the same darkness he has.
🦸‍♂️ Embracing Duality:
Robin represents a significant aspect of Bruce's journey towards embracing his own duality. While Batman is often seen as a symbol of fear and justice, Robin embodies hope and resilience. Together, they create a balanced partnership that reflects the complexities of Batman's character and the city of Gotham itself. Robin's inclusion allows Bruce to confront his own demons and find redemption through guiding a new hero.
👀 Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's Vision:
Excitingly, both Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson have expressed interest in bringing Robin into their Batman universe. This shows their commitment to exploring the full spectrum of Batman's world and giving fans a fresh take on the iconic duo.
Join us as we dive deep into the significance of Robin in "The Batman Part 2" and explore how this dynamic character can elevate the sequel to new heights. Griffin (@griffschiller) gives you his Batman 2 theories and breaks down the latest Batman news hinting at Robin being involved in The Batman 2. Enjoy this The Batman 2 explained analysis!

The Batman leaves our hero and Gotham City in a unique position that no other Batman film has attempted. While Bruce Wayne may have foiled The Riddler's plans to eliminate Gotham's mayor-elect Bella Reál, the city itself is completely submerged underwater.

Also, if the rumors of Clayface being the main villain of The Batman 2 are true, how do you think Matt Reeves would adapt a story regarding Bruce raising Dick, while Karlo descends into the monster that is Clayface?

    • It's explicitly because of the ending of the first one that I'm excited about the prospect of Robin being in this one; when questioned about recuiting Robin, Batman's response is usually something along the lines of "I'm here to scare criminals, not kids," and with the last movie ending with his realization that he needs to be more than just something criminals fear - it's the perfect time for him to recruit Robin.

  • Some reasons for Dick Grayson to be in the sequel: 1. The Penguin series. This show is all about Gotham’s criminal underworld and its mobsters. There’s going to be lots of famous mob characters from the comics, like Sal Maroni and Sofia Falcone. There’s a good opportunity for the introduction of Tony Zucco, the mob boss who had Dick’s parents murdered. And there are a few actors whose roles are still unknown, maybe one of them plays him. 2. Riddler’s legacy. I would wager that what Riddler told Batman about being an orphan in Gotham would make Bruce feel supremely guilty, and drive him to try improving things as Bruce Wayne. This sense of responsibility would be exacerbated by watching Dick lose his parents at about the same age as Bruce had been. Bruce would be desperate to prevent another Riddler, and also feel empathy for Dick from his own trauma. 3. Bruce Wayne’s reappearance. The Batman was all about Bats realizing that Bruce Wayne has a role to play in protecting Gotham. He has to care about his public image. And if Bruce suddenly has this young, impressionable, traumatized boy in his life, he’ll have to be careful about how he acts in order to be a positive influence and, again, not accidentally create another Riddler. 4. The mayor’s son. Batman crossed paths with this kid 3 times throughout the movie. He saved his life twice, once as Batman and once as Bruce Wayne. During the funeral scene, Bruce even figures out where the Riddler is in the church by following the boy’s gaze up to the balcony. The mayor’s son was also the first civilian to trust Batman after the flood - during the flare scene, the kid walks towards Batman first, and everyone else follows. 5. Selina mentioned she was going to Blüdhaven at the end of the film. Blüdhaven is the city where Dick Grayson moved after he grew up and became Nightwing.

    • Very well said! They would just have to treat the character with great care for both king time comic fans and angry parents/people who don’t want to see children be put into dangerous situations. I would absolutely love to see Batman & Robin share the big screen though!!!

    • @@Poket_gmr Thank you, and I agree. In my mind there’s lots of ways Dick Grayson could help Batman without having to actually fight anyone. He could look for clues, do recon/scout work, give first aid to civilian victims, etc. If they used Batman’s camera contact lenses again, Robin might not even have to leave the cave at all to help. But I definitely agree, it’s a balancing act and a risky decision. But I think the creativity, and the ability to see the Dynamic Duo done right on the big screen, would be worth it.

Or not, it’s hard to say, that kid didn’t even speak throughout the whole movie.

Keaton is a close second and my overall favorite though. I really wanted a Nitewing movie with Chris O’Donnel but sadly that may never happen. What if Part II takes place say 6 to 9 months later the events of the 1st part once the city is back to normal on the basis of infrastructure. But the citizens of Gotham would still be on edge right. Because a terrorist attack is not something you forget or move on. So, the new mayor appoints a carnival to take place to boost morals. That could establish the starting point for Dick Grayson's Robin to come into existence. His origins makes him connect with Bruce on a level no one else (not even Alfred) could connect. And bringing the one responsible for his parents death to justice could help both Bruce and Dick to heal. In ways more then one, Bruce is still a scared child who never got the justice he deserved for his parents death. Bruce helping dick to heal could also help him to heal and be a better batman.

However, I feel like the only proper ending to such a trilogy would be Bruce and Dick abandoning Batman and Robin to live healthy lives beyond vengeance. I know it would be an insane departure from the source material, but maybe they should explore the Batman & Robin dynamic in the sequel, end that movie with a “Death of the Family” style cliffhanger, and then do something with the Red Hood storyline in the third film, capping it all off with some sort of cathartic reconciliation between the dynamic duo. It would require an amalgamation of different Robins, but when you think about it, there’s a whole heart-wrenching story arc there just waiting to be brought to film.

  • My idea for introducing Dick would be Bruce being more philanthropic in the city and donating money to various causes, including the Gotham Orphanage. The orphanage was going to be a part of the Gotham Renewal Fund set up by Thomas Wayne, and it was where the riddler in the film grew up, so improving it in the universe would make sense, and this is a way for Bruce to do more for the people of Gotham. So as Batman, he sees Dick with his parents dead around him, and later in the orphanage, as Bruce, he sees Dick. Similar to how it was seeing the mayor's son in the first movie, he sees a lot of himself in Dick. He'll talk briefly with Dick and hear how he wants revenge. Bruce tries to steer him down a better path, but before he can really get into it, he's ushered away for photo ops. Later that night, we see Dick breaking out of the orphanage. This is a moment where we can see Dick's more comedic side while evading workers in the Orphanage and dodging them while they attempt to grab him. While Batman is out, and he spots Dick (recognizing him from the orphanage) trying to take matters into his own hands and get revenge. Batman stops his current investigation to follow Dick. We see his acrobatic skills on display using the fire escapes (or scaffolding) to move between buildings, and he breaks into an apartment through a window he can't fight, but he's great and evading blows with acrobatics Batman comes in and does the fighting, saves Dick, and tells him to stop this and not to let this consume him. He gets dropped back off at the orphanage. Batman is doing more Clayface stuff when he crosses paths with Dick again, and now Dick is in over his head going after criminals with guns. Batman saves him and scolds Dick, then realizes Dick is more like him than he thought and tells Dick that getting revenge won't help, but he can still bring the men to justice. Batman brings the men to justice, and Dick helps Batman take down Clayface. Batman makes Dick his ward officially, and now we have the Dynamic Duo. The film ends with him finding out Batman is Bruce Wayne. Then, post-credit scene, we finally get the Boy Wonder suited up, and I'm talking shorts this time. Hopefully, we'll get a three-hour runtime again, so none of this feels rushed, and the Clayface and Robin storylines get the time they need to develop.

    @The6thjuror@The6thjuror8 ай бұрын
  • 150% agree with you and what a great pitch to include Robin in the next movie. If I wasn't sure if I would like them adding Robin, after watching this video, I would be sure I would want them to add him. Great video and thanks very much for it. I grew up in the 60's & 70's. My first introduction to Batman was the corny Batman TV show. My mom was a single parent and when I went to kindergarten and 1st grade, I was watched by the mother of someone who worked with my mom. They lived down the street and had a boy that was one year older than I was. They had a swing set in the backyard, which was very large, that had one of those two seat swings where you sit facing each other. Well Kent was the name of the other kid. His grandma had a blue towel for him and a yellow one for me. Our capes of course. He was Batman and I was Robin. The two seated swing was our batmobile. We use to play Batman and Robin after school until my mom came to pick me up after work. The whole time and every day. The grandma loved it because she knew where we were the whole afternoon. Running around the back yard trying to catch the joker, riddler, etc. Then jumping in our batmobile and speeding off. I didn't mind being Robin and actually chose to be. As I grew up going to middle and high school and even college, I lost my Batman and Robin ways. In the early 90's, just as the Knightfall story in the comic books started, I regained my interest in Batman and started buying the several different books that were available. Finding out that Dick Grayson wasn't Robin anymore and the Robin I was now reading about, was the 3rd one. Well I was both surprised and excited to find out what happened to Dick. Finding out he was Nightwing was amazing. I started collecting older issues of Batman and the Teen Titans to find out how all these changes unfolded. Especially when I found out the second Robin, Jason Todd, was killed by the Joker and the fans voted for it. Wow I have to have those issues. The individual comics to "A Death In The Family" were a bit expensive for me at the time, especially the 3rd one in the 4 comic book series. The one everybody found out if Robin died or not. I found the paperback with all 4 issues combined in the same book. Great reading. Anyway, I know it is to late to make a long story short and I apologize for it. Dick/Nightwing is my favorite comic book hero with Batman coming in a close second. The fact that with all these live action Batman movies that have been made and only 2 had Robin in it, well has been extremely frustrating for me. On top of all that, the 2 he was in, they made him out to be a whinny little bitch and that certainly isn't who Dick Grayson is. That sent my frustration I was already feeling, shooting through the roof and straight up into space. That and their extremely poor casting of Batman with the exception of Affleck. He was the only one that was big enough to look like Batman. The rest are all to skinny and mostly to short. The all black batsuit instead of the traditional blue and grey. The terrible batmobile with the exception of Keaton's batmobile. That one was bad ass. Then the mostly poor writing, I have been completely dissatisfied with WB very bad attempts at bringing Batman to the big screen. How hard can it be? To get it wrong so many times is mind boggling to me. Just find an actor who is 6'2" who weighs around 220kbs, big and intimidating. Another one who looks like Robin/Nightwing. Have both of them wearing suits like in the comics. Use Keaton's batmobile and find anyone of the several amazing stories found in the comics. You want a 3 part trilogy? How about trying the Knightfall, Knightquest and the Knightend storylines? Find an actor to looks like Jean Paul Valley and one that is huge to play Bane. This story has pretty much all of Batman's main enemies in it including the Joke, Riddler, Scarecrow, etc. The Penguin or Mr. Freeze aren't in it but they can easily be added. Dick is Nightwing and is wearing my favorite Nightwing suit. Tim Drake is Robin and wearing my favorite Robin suit. Their interaction in Knightend is probably my favorite comics of all time. Brothers in arms they were. Do it straight from the comics so you don't have to worry about bad writing. It's all perfect and would be incredible to see up on the big screen. Fans would love it and bring in those who weren't fans at the time. But that is just my ultimate wish. What do you think?

  • I don’t think it would work in this movie universe but if they did it they’d have to do it very carefully and early in the film where he loses his parents. Maybe a time lapse so we don’t have to deal with training montages and what not. I think especially if they have him as a young boy rather than a young man they would have to treat him like the Adam West version and even the Young Justice animated series version where Robin is considered more of a distraction and recon assistant for Batman rather than regularly getting his hands dirty. Something about a 12 year old fighting against grown men with machine guns might not sit well with modern mass audiences lol. Robin is my absolute favorite comic book super hero (until Damien Wayne came along) so I would love to see this happen. For the future of this film universe they could just do a bigger time lapse between 2 and 3 to explain a second Robin (Jason Todd) rather than melting them all into 1 character. My favorite is Tim Drake so I’d really like to see him done well in anything besides the 90’s animated series which took some big liberties and character fusing as well.

I just feel like there's too much of an arc left to unpack with Pattinson's take on the character before we can add a whole origin for Robin and/or the Bat Family. There is not enough time for Batman to gain experience to pass on to the boy wonder. I think it would be beautiful to do Raze Al Ghoul and him coming for revenge for Batman leaving his clan. • I think it might be time to break out the blue and gray colors for The Batman 2. I am not saying make it comic accurate, but give it some color and life the comic appearance. Why? Well, if Dick Grayson were to be part of this movie, as described by this video, then in a way, a change in color pallet would make sense because of not only Bruce growing as a person of the ppl, but also Batman growing as a Batman of the ppl. In comics, I believe it was explained that his blue and gray suit was used for more daytime missions and to look less frightening to children. The yellow oval also gives criminals a target to shoot at... the former is the more important. In almost every movie, Batman is usually treated as a vigilante, and that, Jim Gordan withstanding, the GCPD always has an arrest warrant for. Gotham citizens barely ever see him. This movie could showcase Batman's more caring and publicly heroic persona. I do think it would be challenging if looking to maintain the tone of the first movie, but not impossible.
