Mary Stuart was Elizabeth’s cousin, not her sister. Mary Tudor was Elizabeth’s sister!
Mary and Elizabeth were first cousins once removed.
2:15 - Chapter 1 - Born to be king 5:15 - Chapter 2 - Uniting an island 8:05 - Chapter 3 - More money, more problems 10:00 - Chapter 4 - Gunpowder treason & plot 16:00 - Chapter 5 - King's men 19:15 - Chapter 6 - Successes & failures 24:45 - Chapter 7 - A troubled legacy 27:45 - Conclusion
Elizabeth l wasn't Mary's sister. They were cousins.
Actually Elizabeth i of England was James v of Scotland (Mary Queen of Scots's father) first cousin, Via Margaret Tudor (James grandmother and sister to King Henry viii).
@@mdancey19.37 Mary Tudor AKA bloody Mary daughter of Catherine of Aragorn and Henry VIII . Mary Queen of Scots James VI of Scotland & I of England parents were Mary Guise of France and James V of Scotland the grandfather of James VI hope that clears up things..
wait this isnt abour LeBron
This King is more royal to his people.
Who?
LeBron is the jester.
No because he is. A queen
Well yea, cause if it was, it would flop...
Guy Fawkes has already been covered on this channel
Karl Doesn't have a clue
Please Biographics just make Karl the permanent host, since Simon ain't coming back.
I was just coming here to say that. Karl is one of us now and they better not take him away from us.
And Kàrl.is doing a tip top job as well.
Yeah, I’ve adapted now and just wish they would stick with Karl.
Simon isn't coming back!?!?!!
What happened to Simon?
Y'all should do a biography of Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman.
This is a great idea
@@somejerkbag He's a straight up legend
Kevin Conroy IS Batman... everyone else just does their best.
@@mattyt1961 Facts, he is the true BATMAN!!!!!!
Yea Mary Queen of Scotts weren’t sisters, they were cousins
Yep I just froze the video with a record scratch. Mixing up their Marys I see.
@@Firegen1 Biographics confused Bloody Mary and Mary Queen of Scots. Bloody Mary and Elizabeth I were half sisters.
@pauleohl yeah I know. Many people do. But, it was just sad as everything else was spot on. Overall though good episode.
Yea but supposedly 5 people have looked at this script before him and no one picked up on that mistake
Actually Elizabeth i of England was James v of Scotland (Mary Queen of Scot's father) first cousin, via Margaret Tudor (James grandmother and sister to King Henry viii).
4:23 I never understood that phrase. “Spare the rod.” Okay, so you won’t use the rod. “Spoil the child.” Give them whatever they want. How does this mean “beat the child.”
Sparing the rod (not using it) will spoil the child (cause it to turn bad, like spoiled milk)
James' mother mary was Elizabeth's cousin. Elizabeth had a sister Mary but the two Marys are different women.
I beg you please do a video on Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first Czechslovak president who helped mold post WW1 Europe 🙏 Loving the content 👌
13:53 should've mentioned Lewes Bonfire Night celebrations (where I'm from in the UK) I now live in New Zealand but super amazing memories of how hard they go on the parade through town and celebrations - look it up
Love the timing on this! Did y’all mean to release this on the same date as Mary & George (about James’ favorite George Villiers) dropped in the US, or was that a happy accident?
Happy Birthday to the late Akira Toriyama. Can You guys please do his biography?
I think that's a little too fresh. I'm a massive fan and I think it's a bit too early for that. :/ I'd want Karl to write it in any case, and he's on an extended break from this sort of thing.
@@Biographics i understand. Huge lifelong fan of him as well. Take all the time You need
@@danielsantiagourtado3430 A man of culture I see, gohan vs cell was what peaked in anime in general.
@@Biographics All men of culture decided to link up eh👓🙏🏾
13:47 Yeah, I have the same pet peeve regarding V for Vendetta, lol.
"Remember, remember the 5th of November
Karl, I understand the rivalry between cities. I’m from the “Twin Cities” of Minneapolis and Saint Paul in Minnesota, USA. 2 cities right across the river from each other. We are constantly arguing about which city is better (It’s obviously Minneapolis!)
definitely in the 1994 Junior Goodwill games most of the team were from Minneapolis.
Thanks for the historical analysis of the celebrated author of the King James Bible!
It’s more like celebrated publisher. Historians and linguist today believe there were as many as 20 different authors who translated and rewrote different passages
I'm liking the cultural anecdotes of Britain that you sprinkle throughout the video. In the States our knowledge of Britain is mostly summed up as; Britain bad guys, then good guys, then James Bond occasionally saves the world; Doctor Who timey whimy's around while Monty Python lampoons it all.
Ahh yes, just in time for my History A-Level on 17th Century England.
I'd do your own reading. 5:00 already has a glaring mistake
Well spotted. It’s thankful that the early life of James I is not required for my course 😂. Regardless I will check out the book as well, thank you for the suggestion.
@tectamk.thorne7837 What's your exam on? I might be able to throw some good reads your way. Also best of luck 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
It’s the general politics of 17th Century England. Mainly we look at James I, Charles I, the civil war, and the Protectorate with Oliver Cromwell. Thank you, hopefully I do okay 👍
There is already a guy fawkes video but thanks. Is Simon coming back if not why?
What if the Gunpowder Plot had succeeded? hmmmm
I don't think there would have been nearly enough support for the restoration of a Catholic monarchy for it to succeed.
Excuse me sir, but what is a Bergabon?
Im really confused about the break cake/burger bons. What????
0:10 that will never get old karl thanks😂😂😂😂😂😂
"What do you call a breadcake?" 😋 Yummy! 'Nuff said.
Three kingdoms.. Cleavland Miami Los Angeles iykyk lol
Just make Carl the permanent host😊
No
I think the split of Karl and Eric(?) works, as it means neither of them burn out
Were in the bloody hell is simon
Great script! Thanks Ben! :
Where is my bald bearded history guru ?!
Where is Simon?
Prague
Hasn't been around for months
On 10 other channels, unlike this one for the last 7 months. Shut up and go sign up to one of them
11:05 didnt biographics already cover Guy?
yes in 2019
I... I actually really like the bit about burger buns
I'm still hoping for a Biographics about "mad king" George III
"BLOCKED BY JAMES" My favourite King James moment 😂😂😂
Simon! Dude is awesome host. Can we keep him?!???!?
Its been seven months. Go watch one of his 10 other active channels
No. Simon left. Grow up.
My distant ancestor from whom I get my surname was an indentured worker from county Tyrone who had no choice in the matter of his moving to the Jamestown colony. In a weird way, it was inevitable, his own distant ancestor had been a Viking who had decided to leave Denmark and conquer a small piece of Ireland for himself. Karma, I suppose.
Yay, another British monarch video! Along with the US presidents and the Roman emperors, these are my favorites. (I'm a sucker for state-centric historical narratives, I guess - sue me. :P)
Smallwood with a small followed by a wood.... dying! 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes.
Guy Fawkes already has a video
Hey can you do a biography for French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan?
Can we get Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor?
My glorious pokie-bear James😢
Isnt it 4 if you include Ireland and Wales
YES! Elizabeth's throne was Wales, England and Ireland. The Tudor was a minor Welsh nobel/ royal family. Henry Tudor has claim to the English throne via his mother, Margaret Beaufort. Who was the great-granddaughter of Plantagenet King Edward iii.
He raised his son to believe in "divine right of kings", but forgot to teach him how power *really* worked.
Shoutout to Simon (wherever he is)!
Ol King Jimbo
Thank you.
Karl, I hereby nominate you for a medal 🥉. Yes indeed, putting a baby in charge only works until nap time, then what are you going to do?
4:47 ; You called Mary Queen Elizabeth I's sister; wrong Queen Mary... ^^;
Mary, Queen of Scots was NOT Elizabeth's sister. They were first cousins, once removed. Elizabeth's half-sister, Mary Tudor (Mary I) was queen before Elizabeth.
Punching trees doesnt give me small wood.
YES! Been waiting For this one! Thanks karl! 🎉🎉🎉
Breadcakes??!! You must be from South Yorkshire?? Perhaps even Doncaster???😅😅😅😅
Thank you for the video and I will say I hope one day Ireland can be entirely free 🥃 Sláinte 🇮🇪
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj biography please make video
When did Simon no longer work for you guys?
That wasn’t Elizabeth’s sister. I’m not well versed but I don’t think that was her sister Mary.
Karl’s growing on me
John lambert English civil war general.
Kudos to Karl over Simon: he always credits the scriptwriters. 👏
That, and the people whinging for Simon are getting annoying.
Simon is a composite of several people, so really, he would be thankful to himself. He is also part machine.
Hey Kyle, regarding James’s relationships: bisexuality is a thing.
He wasn't known to have taken female mistresses, so it is fairly safe to say his preference was exclusively for men.
Doing an episode on the King James Bible would be interesting. Not only was it a political propaganda work but it was also the start of the little people being educated and rising up many years later. Edit - the rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney in Australia was so bad that a while new city had to be built to be called the capitol of the Federation of Australia. The place for the capitol, called Canberra was picked as being exactly half way between the two other cities 😂
You should do Francis Parker Yockey, the American Neo Nazi who was a defense lawyer at Nuremberg, a minister for Gamal Nassar, a one time ghost writer for Joseph Macarthy, who smuggled weapons for Castro, and who wrote a Lesbian BDSM novel.
You are my sunshine
I dont think James achieved anything by luck. It took plenty of covert diplomacy with Cecil to ascend the throne and comcessions to English sentiment with regard to Parliamentary power and religion to keep it.
Simon got a hair transplant finally?
I fear I shall, indeed, have the day I deserve.
IT'S A BLOODY BREADCAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The celebration on the 5th November celebrates the failure of the plot, not the fact it almost succeeded.
Why simon stop doing this ?
He looks like he combed his hair with a hammer. I like him, great storyteller, a little pale around the nose. Simon should let him out of the basement more often. - End of irony
Alan Moore, the author of V for Vendetta, isn't the most intelligent person, but then neither are most anarcho-communists.
My favorite version of the Bible
"Hashin' frashin' James I" I'll never be able to bring myself to like him. Stuart b*stard. However, I hope to at least build some empathy for him cos of this Biographic. Or at least be even more grateful Tony Curran is currently playing him. Never been a better match to historical figure outside of Jamie Foxx playing Ray Charles.
What a coincidence that Lebron James (who goes by king James) has gained 3 championships on 3 different teams
We don't know conclusively??? Only if we are STUPID!
Bro how did he get away with saying Mary was queen Liz sister??? Factually incorrect. They were cousins
Love your videos Biographics!! I'd love to see you do a video on Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus, Lucius Aemilius Paulus Macedonicus, or Marcus Claudius Marcellus! Three great Romans from the Roman Republic!
17:37 the bi erasure is real 😅😭
You kinda missed the point of the 4th of July as we celebrated the demise of YOUR rule over us and not the almost destruction of our government. So there is a slight difference. ;)
Map- Dingle and Wexford are part of the Republic of Ireland. This channel gets more inaccurate all the time.
Bummer the bad host 😭
King James: 1 Man, 3 Kingdoms Cleveland Miami LA
You should do a video of George W Bush Barack OBama Donald Trump Joe Biden
Finally, an episode about Lebron. (Context: It's a joke.)
Smallwood needs to just stop mentioning the whole Smallwood thing. State it and move on
Mary Queen of Scots was not the sister of Queen Elizabeth. Big boo boo
Her cousin
Actually Elizabeth i of England was James v of Scotland (Mary Queen of Scot's father) first cousin, via Margaret Tudor (James grandmother and sister to King Henry viii.
Is he the one who edited the Bible ?
He funded it. Other people who he paid are the ones who did the work.
Fact Boy, aka Simon, already did a video on Guy Fawkes published on 6 May 2019 on biographics. Can you stop ranting, it annoying! You are not SIMON!!!! Everyone seems confused Bloody Mary (Mary Tudor ( Queen Mary 1 of England! Katherine of Aragon, and King Henry viii's daughter) Elizabeth's half-sister) to their FIRST COUSIN, ONCE REMOVED ( via King Henry viii), Mary Stuart aka Queen Mary of Scots. The main reason why King James Vi of Scotland inherited Queen Elizabeth I ( his grandfather James V of Scotland's first cousin) English, Welsh and Irish thrones. James was one of direct descent from Henry Tudor (aka King Henry Vii) via his great-grandmother Margaret Tudor (King Henry Viii's older sister). James could have been bisexual/ homosexual who knows. James reunited four kingdoms England, Wales and Ireland via Elizabeth's throne and his Scottish throne. Interesting fact: King James Vi' of Scotland's mother, Queen Mary of Scots, became Queen when she was 9 days old. Queen Mary of Scots did recognise her son as her successor while she was 18 years in imprisonment and before her execution. She also corresponds with her son via letters. Elizabeth had refused to name her FIRST COUSIN, TWICE REMOVED James as her successor! She only recognised him as her successor on her deathbed. Many people, including Mary, saw Elizabeth, as illegitimate. Once James inherited Elizabeth's throne, he decided to dig up and move his mother's casket from Peterborough Cathedral. Reburied his mother opposite her FIRST COUSIN, ONCE REMOVED Elizabeth in the same chapel in Westminster Abbey.
Say 'can you stop ranting' and then proceeds to go off on a rant nobody is going to read. Stfu. Simon is gone, deal with it
That video is nearly five years old. A lot has happened since. What?
All you hafta remember. The man responsible for the Indian tribe that discovered (and thus killed) Pocahontas!!! 😂😨😱
Who else searched up lebron james
😂 this comment made my day
King James 🏀👑🐐

Karl is back! Hope u had a good break 😊 It's about time to stop saying that 'interim' before host, no?
Was King James an autocrat? Most definitely. Was King James an outright tyrant. No.
