In this video, I show you how I turn a few brass nuts and bolts into a little hornet/wasp sculpture.

•This is the VISE I used, and I LOVE it!

I got the idea of turning my drill into a makeshift lathe while watching some Mr Custom Crafts videos, so if you like this sorta thing, definitely go check out his channel!
kzhead.info/tools/e6rs1ze7rDxcGDbtCbYY1A.html
For each piece, I started with various files, then sanded with 500, 1000, and 1200 grit sandpaper, finishing up with the super fine steel wool, and polishing up with some Nevr-dull I had laying around.
To cut the pieces, I used a jeweler's saw, which is a lot of fun to work with! I will post links to the tools very soon :)
UPDATE! So many of you have asked how long this took. It's hard to say exactly. I work a full time job (for now!), so some days I can get an hour or two in. Some days I can't get any time in. This took about a month, working a little at a time. So if I had to guess I'd say 25-30 hours, maybe more. Keep in mind, moving and setting up the camera for each shot really adds a bit of time as well.
TL;DR.. a while.

    • Actually your comment about the equipment is wrong. His idea is to craft a wasp, However, in order to create it he needed the many specific tools and equipment to accomplish this. Hence, he needed the equipment thus negating the previous comment implying he didn't need the equipment just the idea...

    • Michael you missed the point entirely, my point is that I have those same tools that he has but I couldn't have created that wasp as he did. Which proves my point that even though I have the tools I don't have the talent to use them as he does.

    • Jade A yes, because he would totally want to sell away something that he put so much hard work and effort into. I wouldn’t sell that away unless the bid was over 200,000 dollars. I don’t care if it is over priced, because he was so invested in this piece that i would probably be somewhat emotionally attached to it. I don’t know why people keep trying to get makers like this to sell their work to someone who is most definitely not worthy because it is ridiculous. If you are so attached to it, then i challenge you to make something anywhere near as talented as this. Oh and btw, your profile picture is suitable for pornhub. Seriously, go on twitter or something because youtube isn’t interested in prostitutes.

    • @@dianejohnson6987 That's like saying artists shouldn't sell their work because their so attached to it. $200,000 is a pretty steep price for just a brass hornet, but I could see it going 500-1500 for his time. But whatever you want to think, I guess.
