I Turn Some NUTS and BOLTS into a WASP! (Hardware Hornet)
In this video, I show you how I turn a few brass nuts and bolts into a little hornet/wasp sculpture.

I got the idea of turning my drill into a makeshift lathe while watching some Mr Custom Crafts videos, so if you like this sorta thing, definitely go check out his channel!
kzhead.info/tools/e6rs1ze7rDxcGDbtCbYY1A.html
For each piece, I started with various files, then sanded with 500, 1000, and 1200 grit sandpaper, finishing up with the super fine steel wool, and polishing up with some Nevr-dull I had laying around.
To cut the pieces, I used a jeweler's saw, which is a lot of fun to work with! I will post links to the tools very soon :)
UPDATE! So many of you have asked how long this took. It's hard to say exactly. I work a full time job (for now!), so some days I can get an hour or two in. Some days I can't get any time in. This took about a month, working a little at a time. So if I had to guess I'd say 25-30 hours, maybe more. Keep in mind, moving and setting up the camera for each shot really adds a bit of time as well.
TL;DR.. a while.

Thanks man!! Here he is, folks! Go check out his channel if you haven't already! He's got some stuff I think you'll like 😉
Ross The Random- use the bar magnet for large areas(harbor freight)
@@bellyisis the free one?? I have that! 😂😂
Oh I just subscribed to him.. I like his Spartan spoon lol P.s I can't spell today for some reason...😅
Good!
Peening the screw head so that it formed the two eyes was brilliant. So rewarding. Keep going!
Now you know the very part that gave me this strange idea 😉 Thank you, Will!!
Just proves once again that it's not the equipment one has but the talent using the equipment. That is amazing!
Thank you so much for the kind words, Rick!! 😊
Actually your comment about the equipment is wrong. His idea is to craft a wasp, However, in order to create it he needed the many specific tools and equipment to accomplish this. Hence, he needed the equipment thus negating the previous comment implying he didn't need the equipment just the idea...
Michael you missed the point entirely, my point is that I have those same tools that he has but I couldn't have created that wasp as he did. Which proves my point that even though I have the tools I don't have the talent to use them as he does.
@@rickfischer5116 lol. I just commented not that long ago and the fact that you responded so quickly is amusing and quite frankly made my day. Understood & All good sir. 😀
Rick Fischer I totally agree with your comment unfortunately Mr Corrigan didn’t like the fact that you were right so he had to put shit on you about something else shame on you Corrigan this is all about this amazing artist showing us what he can do Just celebrate what this man accomplished with a few nuts and bolts anyway take care all
I like to think I give credit where credit is due.... I believe credit is due. Awesome workmanship with minimal tooling. Ingenuity at its finest!
Thank you so much! 😊
The way he does this with such low tech equipment is amazing! I watched him turn a spoon into Venom and I was hooked!
Incredible talent! I could imagine a brass hive covered with these in an art exhibit collecting admiration from around the world.
There may be a nest of sorts to come 😉
Thank you for the compliments!!
The talent of some people! That was mesmerizing from beginning to end - and a beautiful job in the end! Well done!
Aw, thank you so much Glenda! I had a lot of fun with this challenging piece 😊
I almost didn't watch this, because I meant to select a different video...my only regret is I can't capture the same wonder of seeing it for the first time again. I loved every second, and got some good ideas and inspiration along the way. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much, Chris! There will be more like this in future 😉
Ross the random I loved this little project. I started making one myself right after I watched your vid. I gotta say it doesn't look quite the same yours does, but I'm kinda proud of it. Everyone I've shown it to loves it, but for me it's an inspirational piece. When I look at I think to myself that if I can do this there's more I can do. Thank you for putting out a video that helps someone more than you could've ever expected.
This is absolutely incredible! Who knew that there was a wasp living hidden inside of those brass nuts and bolts! Thank you for releasing it for the rest of us to enjoy!
Haha, thank you so much for watching, and for the kind words 😊 There will be some more odd ideas to come, just have to figure out how to pull them out of my head lol!
When that final piece screwed on and it was a perfect fit with the stinger... omg.
Thank you! 😊
It's marvelous how he uses the most basic equipments but can still make some museum quality pieces!
I admit, have seen this first on the Q guy other channel. The next video youtube recommended was this video, and how i like these things I decided to watch again. Just a few seconds I understand what was going on. Final results: The copy Q guy gained a view, but you gained a subscriber. Awesome job dude :D
Haha thank you so much dude! I'll count that as a win 😁
Holy crap, dude. That is such a great idea and it turned out amazing!
Thank you Bobby! Sometimes crazy ideas pop into my head while learning new processes like I did with Mr Custom Crafts, yours and everyone else's videos 😉 Hopefully I can inspire others to add to the infinite list of crazy ideas lol
I know Bobby I want that
Bobby Duke Arts you should do another insect🤷🏽♂️
You unless the crap's holy u ain't getting thayut wewd
You know Bobby, you should make an elephant out of knots. Hihi
That is a really cool project with a beautiful result. I never thought carving brass hardware could yield such awe inspiring sculptures. Thank you! 🙏
Thanks so much, man! I really enjoy the challenge of limitations, it's almost like a puzzle lol
Just watched a couple other videos of people making this Wasp, so far I think yours came out the most realistic looking. I hadn't realized just how good yours was until I saw these others. Great job!!
I hope people appreciate the amazing imagination/skill it takes to do this. Really, this is just a great example of human ingenuity and creativity. Great job. Just spectacular.
The way he made the face of the hornet. My god it was coolest thing I ever saw. 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!! 😁😁
God job
It's a wasp 🙄
It’s nice to see someone actually use the anvil part of a vice.
This looks familiar 😉 great concept and execution. I thought that Q guy was a genius for a second but it's you who is!
I appreciate that, man! Yeah a shout-out at least would have been cool lol
@@RossTheRandom right!?! Not cool at all!
Absolutely. That's not fear
First of all I have no clue why any one would dislike this video and secondly your work is amazing.
Haha well thank you so much Patricia 😊
Ross, You're quite welcome!
This is 'bar none' the coolest "do it yourself" video I have seen in many years, or ever. Great job!!!
Well thank you so much Greg!! That is incredibly encouraging to hear 😊
It's so inspiring, your videos have brought back my feeling of creativity. Also, lots of positive vibes, I really needed to be reminded of that right now.🥰🥰🥰
man seriously this should be in a museum somewhere good job
This was inspiring. I usually watch YT vids at 1.5 or 2 x normal speed (so I can watch more stuff!) but I had to run normal on the wings and watching the face come alive was magical. I've subbed and will enjoy watching your channel grow. I may copy 1 or 2 of them too.
Thank you so much Michael! I try hard to keep my videos moving so that hopefully people don't feel the need to do that.
You can copy but give credit and link to this video as well if you genuinely liked the effort and creativity
Ayyyy. I do the same thing with restoration videos
Creativity is like peace not everyone has it. Evolution is a trip.
Сколько трудов!!!.......... Результат - Потрясающий!... Великолепная Работа!.. Друг - Поделись , чуток своими железными нервами))) Реально крутая работа! Великолепное исполнение! - Бис!!!
The conceptualisation is simply too amazing!
Found you on Instagram. Shared the short version of this and a friend told me who the actual artist was. Loved this video. Subbed! Great job on coming up with some creative methods to sculpt common materials with basic tools. Loved everything about this. ❤️
Purely incredible. It’s amazing how you were able to make each part and have it almost perfectly come together. Keep up the work because you have an amazing talent.
Thank you so much!! 😊
I love the music at the end. Awesome work!
Why are you here 😂
Sir i watch your video
Me too
Étonnant..superbe d'imagination, de savoir-faire ...et de patience.. Bravo l'artiste...!
The way you did the head and the wings+legs amazed me This turned out really great man, keep it up
Thank you so much 😊 This was a challenging one!
Now I wasn’t expecting that at all. I love fabrication programs car builds and all that , but that so simple yet really good. 10 out of 10
Thanks so much Paul!!
I know I just saw exactly how it all came together, but I'm still in disbelief. Incredible work!
Thank you so much, man! I had my doubts at the start lol
A true beauty of Art . What an masterpiece..one of a kind..liked the video even before watching it 👌 and the end finish is legendary 👍
Well thank you Edwin! 😊
Simply amazing! What more cans be said? Simply amazing!!!
This is soooo satisfying to watch! I got so scared watching u bend the legs!
Thank you Lulu! 😊 I was INCREDIBLY anxious with that part
Your talent and creativity has no bounds! This was truly an incredible feat. Love the new channel name.
Thank you Tammy! This one was tedious for sure. May have to tone it down just a little to get videos up quicker lol
Absolutely stunning work!! Beautiful job!! ❤️
It's genius how the mind works. Effortlessly transferred the bee design from your brain into a 3D masterpiece. Well done pal.
Dude...that's seriously one of the most amazing things I've ever seen! 100/10. Excellent
Dang, that's a super high score! Thank you! 😊
Wow. Coolest thing ive seen on the tube in a good while. Brilliant idea. Loved watching. 🐝
Thank you for the awesome compliments Justin! 😊
👍 Also, a pretty cool vise! 😎
What a lovely piece 😍😍 Im gona try this myself for sure
Man I'm so glad i stumbled on your channel. Amazing work brother absolutely amazing. Much respect to the hustle
*Why so many dislikes on such a heart warming, straight to the point video?*
Jealousy and empty souls.
@robert proctor i guess so, assholes just be that way
Some Just Aren't Skilled😎🤙
I didn't dislike the video. I gave a like, but let me share what I had expected. I clicked the video coz I thought this thing would actually fly.... I'm a tech guy, not an art guy. So there you go. Reasons for dislikes.
@ben jones lmao im a pretty chill dude and ironically im a vegan and a cyclist. Not even oulling your leg.
Wow, that was a really good watch! Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
This is amazingly accurate and obviously took a lot of time and effort. Good job 👍
I’ve never thought that a tiny gold Gorgeous Beautiful amazing wasp will be such an amazing idea!!!!!!!!😂😍
Amazing! Video was so good i watched it twice and showed it to my mom, lots of love from South Africa. Rock on!!
Thank you so much dude!! 😊❤️
This is the best use of you tube. Running into beautifully creative things like this!
Thank you so much William, I really appreciate that 😊
Ross The Random how much would you charge
Easy way to say do everything with almost nothing... Just talent!!! Beautiful wasp thx so much!!!
Amazing work, Ross! Both the scorpion and the wasp look like something found in an ancient Egyptian tomb! Totally fantastic!
Thank you so much! 😊
This is people like you who reconcile me with mankind. Art is our only true achievement as a species, everything else is worthless in comparison. You are a phenomenal artist/craftsman.
Wow, thank you so much dude! Art is my life, and I agree 100% with you on that 😊❤️
👍 yep
Well said Morgan. It's a beautiful work of art Ross.
Pretty easy to say on your portable computer, sitting in the comfort of your home, having dinner already on the stove. Ask some people from around 1800, they had some sick art, but would deny your statement
You deserve a "thumbs up" for many reasons...the way you take advantage of pre-made shapes, the solution you find to achive details, and so on. But I can only give you one "like".
Makes me want to grab the drill and some screws and give it a go myself but the misses will have me putting Shelves up instead 😂 very nice mate
That is a side effect lol 😅
Absolutely stunning! 😍 Now I kind of want one! 😍
Been here since the beginning. I remember when you only had a few hundred sub's and now look at you. I knew you'd blow up, good luck in the future and keep up the amazing work!
Aw, thanks so much Kit! Yeah I sure got a massive jump in subs recently 😂 I just need to focus on getting videos out quicker now.. maybe tone it down a tad lol
Much respect ✊ true artist and creatively.. Deserved my attention... I’ve subscribed!
Thank you so much!! 😊😊
So much hard work .... Amazing talent and creativity
You are crazy! ,,,,,CRAZY GOOD..... This is awesome. Such a lot of work for such a tiny little guy. It is beautiful. I love stuff like this. Good job.
Thank you so much, Cathy!! 😊
Really nice. I also love the fact that you did this with normal tools that most of us have in our garages/houses. Good work that man!
The whole time I was watching I was thinking "I woulda fucked that up, oh and that, and this would've snapped...". Thoroughly impressive and enjoyable video!
Haha thank you so much! The thoughts were there throughout the whole piece until it was done 😂
@@RossTheRandom please add another pair of wings. wasps and hornets have 4 wings. otherwise it is just a fly
@@gshaindrich he only give it two wings so it won't fly away.
Lol
Reyboy James Pangan *gave it two Just wanted to correct you so you don’t get attacked by someone else..
Stunning. Clever. Beautiful. True artistic ability.
A creative artistic idea, masterfully done!! joy to watch. Thanks!
Such a gorgeous little project... Necklace pendant? Either way, beautifully done brother!! Thanks for the inspiration
Could potentially be a pendant! Thanks so much for the kind words! 😊
Ты молодец мужик, потрясающая задумка и исполнение, изумительная работа по красоте и содержанию.
Nicely done: both sculpture and video.
ross you are just a beautiful talented man i want to get all my stuff in so i can learn to be like you once i do get all the things i need i will post it on my channel thank you for motivating me
Thank you, that's awesome!! Look forward to seeing what you come up with 😊
Well this earned a sub, that was satisfying to watch.
That's AWESOME, thank you!! 😊
Hi pro +1
That my friend, is amazing just because of its simplistische. Just know the art isnt the wasp you made, the art is where you made it with...
Thank you for doing it and sharing your knowledge
That's AMAZING mate !! How did it even come to your mind? that's genious. I would take a closer look at your drill press, it's not spinning correctly but it wobbles a bit. A big applause from Italy !!
this is one of the most coolest nut and bolt project ive seen well done its great
Thank you so much, Michael! 😊
6:14 That part really impressed me. Good Job!
Hi pro +1
I would have lost my mind being scared of breaking it lol
Great work sir !! Absolutely gorgeous !! As of 9/12/21 2.3k people are mad they do not have this talent. What "they" do not realize, is that it takes practice and perseverance, and they too could create beautiful works of art. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Hey Rob , that was so cool i love you're art work, I do hobbies for art, but I enjoyed your work.
In the words of Bobby Duke: "I wont thayt"
Lol good ol Bobby!
It is pronounced: I Wawnt Thyat Ah-Wah-ont-Thy-at
طنبيخفءذ
Thats badass bro. Takes some big imagination to come up with something like that. You should sell em if you arent already. I'd buy one.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!! And I may have to do that soon 😉
Beautiful art.
wow i love your works... so artistic and creative... Salute for you!
I take my hat off to you, a true artist. Turning screws into this work of art is fabulous! How many hours did it take to do this job? Leandro Wagner.
Take....and I cannot stress this enough... MY MONEY! In all seriousness, if you had an Etsy or similar platform, I think you’d be a hit! If there’s a way to reach you and purchase one I would be EXTREMELY interested!!! Either way, keep doing cool stuff! This is awesome!!!
Jade A yes, because he would totally want to sell away something that he put so much hard work and effort into. I wouldn’t sell that away unless the bid was over 200,000 dollars. I don’t care if it is over priced, because he was so invested in this piece that i would probably be somewhat emotionally attached to it. I don’t know why people keep trying to get makers like this to sell their work to someone who is most definitely not worthy because it is ridiculous. If you are so attached to it, then i challenge you to make something anywhere near as talented as this. Oh and btw, your profile picture is suitable for pornhub. Seriously, go on twitter or something because youtube isn’t interested in prostitutes.
@@dianejohnson6987 That's like saying artists shouldn't sell their work because their so attached to it. $200,000 is a pretty steep price for just a brass hornet, but I could see it going 500-1500 for his time. But whatever you want to think, I guess.
@@dianejohnson6987 what the hell dude, she only showed interest in case it is for sale, why are you so triggered by a comment she respectfully made? You say it as mad as if commissions didn't exist. The last part was unnecessary.
Diane Johnson I didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way, more along the lines of, if he is an artist I’d like to support him and his art by purchasing something I’d he was interested in selling it .
Diane Johnson Oh and btw, thank you for the unsolicited opinion, I fully intend on continuing to do as I please. Bold of you to assume I’m a prostitute solely based on cleavage and a Snapchat filter. Who wants to bet little Miss Johnson is part of the MAGA crowd? 😭😭😭
I just subscribed due to this peice, love the art and minimal waffling in the vids i look forward to seeing more
Same here 👍
Extraordinary! Thanks for sharing
some may ask "why?" i say, why not? ^^ this is just awesome :D
Haha thanks! I do it for the challenge 😉
Heard at every art show: "I'll give you five bucks for that."
Lol, right!! Nah, I'd have to eBay it lol
jaguarsky55 - Not even fifty bucks LoL 😂 that’s a lot of work 😥

This is some impressive work. Beautiful job, Bud!
love it, great workmanship.i have just painted a wasp on my golf club, people see it and ask why ? because i can ! is the answer. i have looked at a few golden wasps being made on you tube and they look brilliant so my next canvas will be a war of golden wasps and hornets...WHY ? because im an artist and i can paint...lol
