Hello everyone and welcome to this week's Inside Arsenal extra-time, where I'm joined once again by James Benge of CBS Sports.
In today's show we discuss a wide range of topics, including Edu's recent trip to Saudi Arabia ahead of the summer transfer window. We also discuss the futures of Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey and give our thoughts on what Kai Havertz's superb form could mean in terms of Arsenal's hunt for a new striker.

Wtf no Jorginho has had class games and games where he has looked well off the pace. I'm not sure Monreal ever had a bad game but also rarely had a GREAT one - he was mister consistent, Jorginho is Mr. Usually-good-but-sometimes-wank
When you see some of the kits that come out each year, you wonder what the designers are thinking. Completely agree, we should have played in that yellow kit for the away match at Bayern. Like it or loathe it, it conveys energy while the green looks good with a pair of jeans and a pint, it's rather souless like our performance on that night. Who is in charge of these things? Should get the fans to vote.

Even if Thomas gives us 10 games a season, he is worth keeping. I haven't seen a player so exciting in his position since Vieira.
Great stuff Charles and James, and congratulations to James! I just wanted to make a point on Havertz and where he is playing, after your question about if he is a 9 & 10 but what about left 8. I think Havertz has been great this calendar year, wherever he has played. A lot of that has been upfront but he has played really well at left 8 too. Away at West Ham and Burnley, for example. First half against Villa and last half hour against Brentford too, both at home. And interestingly for me, what he does is very similar whichever position he is playing. Yes he is a bit further forward when playing upfront but the way he drops deep from there, or pushes forward from left 8 means he is playing in a very similar way doing a very similar role for the team. Not really a question I'm afraid but is something have been wanting to say! Keep up the great work, and looking forward to being at the Emirates as always on Saturday!

hi Charles. to comment on Obi Martin physique comparisons to Thomas. With Haaland it was actually the opposite, he had to learn how to move and score as he was a skinny kid lacking physique. He has talked about this himself. His physique improved massively at Molde at 18, the kitchen lady have commented on how he would eat insane amounts and ask for food to bring home

Properly sell Jesus, Zinchenko, Nelson, Eddie, ESR, Tierney, Lokonga, amd Tavares to generating some decent £££s and we'dbe able to buy who we needed to progress.

Why aren't we considering playing Jesus as a right winger full time? I'll pick signung an out and out striker, the exception being Isak (because he's quality). And I do think we need more investment in midfield than we realise (6 and 8)
Charles you said if there’s a “hope” that Jesus can get fully fit again, you’d “put all your eggs in that basket”. We are so far past “hopes” as a club. Look at his injury record, look at his stats in 30 games this season. Look at almost £250,000/week. We need to move on. Jesus can pull off a few tricks and dribbles on occasion, but he’s never scored 15 league goals in a season his WHOLE CAREER. His best is 14 at City. I heard we’re linked to Kudos again today. I think that would be an amazing signing that can play anywhere up top and give us cover/depth. Plus we can also get an actual ruthless #9 as well. We’ve been talking about 2 new attacking players already so if we sold Nketiah and Jesus, Kudos and a new #9 would be an upgrade without question.
Now, Kudus is a player that I could definitely go for........ he's a top top quality player.
If you want to use stats, at least learn how to use them - Jesus' goal record is a totally moot point when he had also never been a consistent starter. Give or take 10 goals per season is pretty good for a squad player who played across the front 3, got plenty of assists, by all accounts is one of the hardest working forwards on the planet and whose best attributes are everything ELSE he brings (beside goals). I think we need an upgrade but there's no need to talk out of your arse.
Disagree, KDB wins the league for City every season by putting a run of 15 games together. Quality players are better than ever present players. Look at Eddie and ESR this season. Always fit but never used because they don't have the quality.
Jesus has only played in 24 PL matches out of 35, only started in 17, less than half. According to fbref.
Its like the refs have been given another directive to miss bad tackles. They blow the whilst for a tap or slight grab, however studs up into the legs and ankles dont get a second look

This season’s and next seasons kits have been a disappointment for sure, especially after the previous black kit which was an absolute banger! Really dislike the away for next season even more than this year’s Luminious effort (which I agree Charles I’ve warmed to it after the wins wearing it!) The home kit next season could be alright… will be interested to see it & the 3rd kit to see which one tickles my fancy! 3 games to go - let’s fuckin GOOOO! COYG

Look beyond the numbers; he is absolutely lacking on the defensive end.
Regarding new signings and KH, 8,9 or 10, and adaptability and flexibility. Arteta likes players who can fit into several roles. And it is so important, that the players can adapt in games, switch it up, learn new positions, cover for injuries etc. That is a big strenght for Arsenal. I want more of it though, Saka should learn the 9 role, Saliba the 5 role (the new Patrick Vieira), Martinelli the 9, Timber the 5, ESR the MØ role. And also, next season I want the bench to take a step up, get more playtime, so they dont weaken the team when they have to start. We have had injuries this season, but been quite lucky that the spine of the team has been fit all season ( centre defence, Rice, Ødegaard, Saka). Happy to hear your opinions on these matters, Charles. Cheers 😊

Jesus before the world cup was very good at the beginning but let's not forget he still went 10/11 games without a goal running up to the WC and that was before injury.
I know what you guys mean about jesus but he's never been and will never be a clinical no9 great player but he doesn't score enough for what we need now and his positional awareness as a striker is dismal

The Issue with Partey is he is that Good but injuries limit him, and also there aren't any guarantees than any new signing will get up to speed, we saw with Xhaka leaving and we Shouldn't make the mistakes Wenger made where you just get rid of an older player just because you have some Young blood, you need both sides, Old and Young, Pep did it with Fernandinho, keeping him around till Rodri was absolutely Ready, experience is just as important as the Talent
Would keep Jesus tbh. Yes he isnt the striker we hoped he would be for us, but lets be real. He isnt a bad rotational RW/LW option for us. We all know Saka needs competition and i think having Jesus as cover or even deputising if Saka isnt fit or needs a rest, is way, better than no competition or using Reiss there. I would sell Eddie, Reiss, Zinchenko, Tierney, Patino and Ramsdale. If we can recoup close to 100m in player sales, we should go for Hincapié from Leverkusen, who can play LB/CB. We should get De Gea on a free(a quality backup GK whether you admit it or not). Box-to-box midfielder like Bruno G or, wild choice, Camavinga. It won't be easy, but i feel if he wants to nail a starting spot in the France NT, he needs to play consistently and he isnt going to get that at Madrid and utilising him at LB is wasting his potential For Striker, i honestly would only go for Isak, but thats only if Jesus serves as RW backup. If Jesus is used as Striker backup, then a backup RW is needed. Someone like Adeyemi will fit in perfectly, as hes a natural left footed RW, who has incredible pace and can deputize as a Striker as well. He can do damage on counter attacks , interchanging with Trossard, Martinelli and co All in all, the most important position is midfield. Tying Jorginho down isnt bad as we know Elneny is leaving. Jorginho will just replace Mo, Partey will take the Jorginho role, comimg off the bench to sure up games, but we desperately need that #6 or #8. Rice has been phenomenal, but he needs a partner on his same level, if not better

Nobody can force Partey to leave. Why do you want to keep a player due to be 33 this December, with his legs gone and can't defend but sell another who is better than the 33yr old player because the 33 Yr old guy has Brazilian roots and our Sporting Director is also a Brazilian?

10 million 12 in wages. 22 million to lay in treatment room. We definitely need to put that to his replacement if anyone will take Partey. Replacement for good fit Partey isn't easy but come on its not worth keeping him and Jorginho and club keeping Jorginho says they want ti move on. 2 midfielder and pacey attacker needed then offload ESR Nelson Nketiah and upgrade with young talent with higher ceilings. Tommy fitness a worry but think right to keep him and see if he can stay fitter; but will need managed. Oh Zinchenko can go too if we get another left back or capable playing left back our way. Yes Jesus too, he will never be the same
If surgery can sort out Gabby's knee for good, there's no way I would sell him........ not ever!! He's an extremely useful player and can easily play across the front line and could even deputise for Odegaard to be honest. A 100% fit Gabby J is almost unplayable.

Why should he laugh at us? He was brought in as an 8 and obviously isn't despite Arteta persisting with him.
