@@FalloutUrMum it's like Slavin. You don't notice the amount of work they put on the ice. There is more to hockey than just points. Being strong defensively. Playing aggressively. Wearing down your opponents top lines. That's how you set things up so your top forwards can score to win you games.

The rule changed in the first place cause teams like the 90s Devils would rip the puck over the glass 40 times a game when they were under offensive pressure .

Like said earlier in the comments, Devils and Isles have a totally different play style, so much that one of them that the games can easily become blowouts Where the team whose play style works better wins with big Numbers. Canes and Isles have very similar play styles that are both so defensive minded(+Sorokin) that there isn’t going to be that much goals which obviously makes games tighter and easier for the worse team to win(or Sorokin to win the game himself)

Um. He had already been in the league for three years at this point so very much not a rookie, and he played the next year (and subsequent years, just mostly on affiliate squads). Scott Stevens hit isn't even the hit that people attribute to his decline. It was the elbow to the face the following year that screwed up his vision.
For one, Willis was not a rookie. Secondly, the Stevens hit was a good hit and third, he played like four more years

Congrats on making the final 4, Carolina. Great job in two series averaging just over 2 goals / game (remove the Devils snowman game and it is exactly 2 per game). Canes team D is ridiculous, phenomenal, more adjectives, etc. Boston eliminated *should* have changed the Eastern playoff dynamics but I don't think anyone is ready to dismiss last year's Presidents Trophy winner Florida. On my KZhead channel feed to Sportsnet, to which I am subscribed, you announced the winner of this series BEFORE I had a chance to watch it! It was absolutely heart breaking to be informed of that result before I got the chance to watch the highlights! Please do not do that for the rest of the playoffs!!!

Ik people may think I am trashing New Jersey (Rangers fan here), but this ain't the case. I have to give them a lot of credit for leaving it all out there on the ice tonight. Very unfortunate how their season ended like this (I am very familiar with this feeling of watching your team lose a playoff OT game). But they have one bright future of what they accomplished this year. Wouldn't surprise me if they get back to the 2nd round of the playoffs next year depending how their season in 2023-24 unfolds.
What makes you think they'll have the same team to pull that off? Nothing is consistent in hockey...
