This is exactly what I have been looking for . Things I loved about this review : 1. Very natural and friendly . It didn’t have that KZhead “ over the top omg subscribe to me “ feel! 2. Excellent reviews of the products broken down into categories and multiple applications . 3. Clear and concise . 4. This is how KZhead vids should be done . Automatically had to subscribe 👍🏻🥇
So happy that you appreciate my hard work. Thanks!
Sanjay C thank you for all that you do !
So which one you choose?

@@LabSoundRecords I'm planning on getting the beyerdynamic DT 770 the whole description of it sounded so interesting especially when he said that they can last for long sessions because I spend hours on music

@Gerald, how were the Russian subtitles? Any good?
The malayalam subtitles don't make much sense, sir ! Anyway it's nice of you to include them.

Thanks to this video I purchased my first set of Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 250 Ohm. They sound totally amazing, your reviews were on point with this. I have been looking at reviews for weeks trying to find the right headphones and I have to say the DT770 PRO is wonderful. Again, thank you Sanjay for this video.
The DT 990 Pro’s are my favorite. They have such a great flavor that makes listening to mixes really enjoyable. I constantly go back and forth between the 990’s and my Senn HD 600’s for mixing and pleasure and then I have a pair of ATH-M50x’s for tracking.
What is tracking exactly?
You are brilliant, SanjayC! Your review of the top studio headphones is comprehensive, unbiased, and you’ve provided a great price range. Thanks for doing all the research.
Thanks so much. I appreciate the compliments :-D

This video is GOLD! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! 🙌🏽
Wow this is one of the best tech reviews I've seen on youtube. Well structured, informative and super engaging! I'm looking into getting a pair of new headphones so this helped a lot thanks! :)
Easily one of the best channels on youtube. I send many blessings your way brotha. I never do comments but your deserve it and so much more!
Finally. A true tech reviewer.. Sooo glad i found u.. I was just looking for a good over ear headphones... Wow.. U are a pro dude! Great work..
found your channel this morning and watching your videos have helped me so much already! thank you for making such great content!!
6:04 Apart from the excellent airy, spacious sound they give, I've found the open backed DTs to be far less fatiguing than fully closed headphones, and the velour covered pads make them even more comfortable. This is a major plus in long sessions.
are open back headphones okay if ill be recording guitar and vocals with an xlr microphone?
DTs impedence is to high 250 ohms. You will not hear any noise, if there is any. I am happy with Audio Technica. I have 4 of them: 2x M50xBT (for playback), 1x M50x (for post production), 1x M70x (for field production - noise catcher).
The DT990 has a huge treble peak lmao, what? They’re literally one of the most fatiguing headphones you can use. I have the dt770, which have less treble then the DT990, and they’re extremely fatiguing without EQ. They’re not a good headphones for mixing because they aren’t flat at all. You need actually flat headphones for mixing, like the DT880, or the sennheiser HD600, 6XX, or HD560s. The DT770 especially is not good for mixing at all. They’re designed for monitoring. They’re completely coloured in sound signature, have way to much bass, and way to much treble. If you mix on them, your mix will probably end up sounding very mid forward.
@@enlistenmusic1719 Who are you replying to?
@@Teeb2023 Well I mean you mentioned that the open back DT headphones weren’t fatiguing, so I figured you were referring to the 990s. If you weren’t though, then that’s my bad. But if you were referring to the 990s, they’re actually very fatiguing and not great for mixing.
I bought the Neumann NDH-20 when I bought a Moog Grandmother. I wanted something that could handle the Moog and my other analog instruments without fatiguing my ears. They are the best headphones that I've heard in 35 years. They are near perfect in every way. My ears used to growl like a bear after listening to music for a couple of hours. Now they purr like a kitten.
I forgot the Neumann thnx for reminding me bro.
Thinking of these for editing audio(voice over). Still like them?
@@AnthonyMartinsRock bro best in 35 years you don’t just stop liking that
This was such a detailed review! Awesome job, definitely gonna look through the rest of your videos for advice!
Thanks Prabhu!
Love your segways and the pace of your videos. The information is clear and well explained. Definitely subbed! Currently using the DT 770's and looking for a DAC/Stack to get a little more out of them. Might have to pick up a set of the AKG's to try after this as well, though the next purchase if the DT 990's. I was blown away going from a set of Marley Destiny TTR to the Beyers. Now diving down the rabbit hole of audio for casual listening.
so glad i came across your channel!
bought the DT 990 Pro and i loooooove them thank you
I love this video. You’re the only audio reviewer who seems to explain and describe things well. Subbed. Also, I’ll let you know how the dt 990 pros are!
Thank you so much for the kind words
The channel’s content is amazingly helpful!!!
Love your videos dude! Always so accurate and general at the same time, so functional information. Well done videos!!!

I instantly subscribed to your channel because you have so many language subtitles option, and great content. so happy to find this channel
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for everything you do for us, your work is priceless 🙏🏿🖤
Excellent info.
Of all the headphones that I've tried during the years I've settled with the Sennheiser HD650, the AKG K702, the Beyerdynamic DT-150 with DT-100 velour pads; those 3 I use for mixing and mastering. And I mainly use IEMs or the KRK KNS 8400 for tracking.
BEST VIDEO EVER! Thank you SanjayC! I can finally pick a pair of headphones 😃
Thanks! Glad it helped you!
Thx so much for this. I'm currently shopping for headphones and this was a great recommendation especially considering your experience. Thank you so much!
this channel is awesome thanks man!
Hi Sanjay...I am really impressed with your presentation skills...You are by far the best ever reviewer on youtube. Easy to listen to, wide dynamic range, and very informative. I will need to set up a studio soon...you would be the ideal person to consult with....Great work man!
I really appreciate that, Ihsan!
Also, I would throw in the Philips SHP9500 for a budget option, and for a more upscale open back, the Sennheiser HD 598s are very good. I use both of these for A/B'ing, and gaming. They're both very good, very comfortable, and the sound sate is excellent!
not sure how I managed to miss this gold mine of a channel but I subbed before the intro ended. Very excited to see your other videos. thanks for the great quality and detail!:)
@SanjayC this! 🙌🏾💕
Very Useful, Thank You!

Thanks so much, Sean. Glad you found my channel!
Had the 990s for over a year now and love em.. Especially for gaming
I’m a new fan bro. Keep up your Chanel. You know what you are talking about💪🏽🔥
Thanks, this video was super helpful and logically presented!
I watched several videos off late whilst buying Audio Interface & microphones. I'd admit, you have some of the best content out there on recording, mixing and audio instruments. You deserve more viewership - keep up excellent work!
Wow, thanks! Really appreciate that nice compliment!
Dude your channel is amazing! I’m currently mixing wit a pair of Beats Solo HD’s and just ordered a pair of Sony’s due to this review.
Thank you Dj SoFlo!
Is there a big difference mixing with the sonys compared to the beats? I have the Sony's 900N bluetooth headphones which are not monitor headphones(I got them just for listening) but I was wondering if I connect them with wire to my audio interface if they would be as good as monitor headphones
Omg I had to get rid of my Beats... Terrible. After a little trip to guitar center and the tech was cool enough to allow me to listen to my mixes of a couple of track I mixed with Beats headphones The mixes were lacking terribly all beats headphones have a color more suited to consumer sound to them not flat. Love my Samson Sr 950s
Thank you so much for this video!
Just came across your channel since I was researching on flat headphones. Love the insight, you’ve explained everything so well for someone like me who is pretty new to mixing. Thank you and subscribed!
i wholeheartedly recommend mext for those in need of flat monitors

This is an excellent video: very professionally produced and the information is detailed and seems fair. Bravo!

Hey I appreciate that Viren!
I stumbled on some 250ohm 880 pros and was blown away with the price to performance of the BDs. They make some great cheap headphones that often outperform ones costing 2-3x more. They also have high end ones but I haven’t tried them... sure they’re good
Not only did this video help me choose my next set of headphones, but it mos def educated me on so many aspects from different headphones! Thank you!
So happy to hear that!
This was truly helpful, and I don't feel like I need to buy something else for better isolation. I just switched the mix headphone with the one in the vocal booth. Thanks!
Wonderful review! I love how you summarised your findings at the end, and packed so much useful information into the description, including timings that allow us to easily navigate the video to specific items. Very helpful. Thank you so much for making this! EDIT: Wait a minute ... not to mention the 14 subtitles you added for different languages. Dude, what ARE you??
Hi Ethan. I really appreciate your comment. It takes a lot of work to do everything for these videos so when someone notices, it really makes it worth my while. Thank you. You made my day! :-)
@@SanjayC You're welcome, man! I know how hard it can be, so I personally gave up on subtitles for the time being, but you went the extra mile.

I'm using the st-80 right now and boy is it good!!!! like wow!!! really helps me when i'm mastering music in FL studio.
Great review San, very thorough.
I Current already have the Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro’s and I am glad I got them. They sound so amazing and I wouldn’t switch back under any circumstance. It is an amazing pair of headphones and I am glad Sanjay thought so too :D They’re 100000% recommendable
Hey Jochem! Glad you agree with my recommendation. Have you ever tried the 770s? Curious what you think of them
Hi I'm thinking of getting these as well. Do you use a amp to power them? I have a ni audio 6 and wondered if this is enough . I hear so many mixed opinions
Why do I always come here for music related questions?? Answer: Cuz it has all what I’m looking for. Thanks man!🙏
Haha! Nice!!
such a great video, so helpful. thank you for that!
Thank you for your time to review This was helpful
Superlux HD681, less than 30$, a tiny little grainy highs but best (of all) in terms of frequency response. A very very good sounding one for the purpose of your review.
13:41 I thought you were gonna say, these headphones sound closer to my wife's beautiful voice talking... whispering into my ears.
Haha. No headphones will compare to the real thing.
Excellent! A great video, this guy makes good reviews. Regards from a new subscriber from Mexico!
thanks Sanjay, this is really helpful. I am glad you also include the budget one on your video, I was curious with that since I saw it on amazon. now I guess I will go for the Audio Technica
I own the audio technica ath-m50x and i absolutely love them! They are so comfy and i didn’t have to charge them for a month! The sound quality is great aswell.
Nice choice!
10:10 i bought these n i am a beginner... I made kind of like good mixes in it!! So. I would suggest them to others on a tight budget and just wanna start!
Nice. Thanks for sharing your good experience with them.

He'll love them Palesa, I've owned a pair for a few months now. If he doesn't, get a new boyfriend ❤

You're.. sooo.. sooo Good Man. You Made this So Easy And Clear. Great Help.. Brother. May God Bless You Dear Sanjay ❤
Thanks for a REALLY GOOD round up! :)
You bet!
Hey Sanjay! Thanks a lot for a great video! I have a question: on the AKG K702 you say "if you want the wide sound of open-back headphones these are an excellent choice, but you'll save some cash going with the Beyerdynamic 990's instead." Which of these two would you recommend if the price difference is negligible? The planned use is mixing tracks at home while saving up for studio monitors. Cheers!
Solid review. Accurate based on my own experience, as well. I prefer the Sony to the Beyers (easier to drive and more neutral, but less bass and less fun to listen to for casual listening).
Excellent review, subbed up!
Thank you, this video made my decision very easy and saved me days of deliberation!
I've ATH-50x & I respect your opinion because I've the same issue.❤️
Thanks, Saíkat. Have you tried any of the others in this list?
@@SanjayC Nope, I'll try some in future.
Great reviews! A few months ago I picked up the Beyerdynamic 770’s based upon your recommendation. They are phenomenal! Super comfortable and you can hear a pin drop. They are great. Thank you......
Thanks! Glad you like the DT 770s! Still my favorite!
Really nice video, this video will help to choose right gear for studio.
Thank you for this actually helpful review. I ended up going with the DT 990 pros
The ath-m50x are amazing for mixing and creation when you can't use monitors. Translates very well when I do jump on my speakers. The soundstage isn't all that wide but it handles everything else quite nice. Was a major recent upgrade (last year) from my 7506's I used for over a decade. Beyers were too bright for my tastes. I also find the Senns HD-25s are great secondary phones. I watch movies, tv and game with Phillips x2hr. Great vid. Focals?
Oh I wish I could try the Focal Utopia!! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Damn good content, sub.
Thanks so much for subscribing
Great presentation and he’s very easy to look at
Great video!!!
First timer here, great review, i was surprised to see only 98k subs... keep it up. Maybe a collab or something might help boosting them numbers up... Anyway...subscribed!
Thank you, Alex! We will grow slow and steady :-)
I know I’ve commented this before on his other videos, but Sanjay seems so nice, both on KZhead and irl. His content is so helpful and wholesome. keep up the great work! :)
Thanks a ton
First time watching one of your videos. Great work man !
Awesome, thank you!
Great job disseminating technical information smoothly and efficiently. Thank you
Great review. I was looking forward to seeing the frequency response graphs. :( Also, I believe the ATH-M40x might have a little less bass than the M50x so perhaps that's a cheaper option that is more neutral and a better recommendation for people. I'm looking at headphones with the most isolation as possible while still sounding good. I already have the HD280s and the ATH-M50, if you ever find something with more isolation than the HD280s that sound great please let me know.
I think AKG K271's isolation is great.
I've had the Cb1's for about 3 years using them daily. lol i'm actually using them right now. They are great for the price!! I loaned them to a friend who had the M40x and he was blown away by the sound quality. Very comfortable too. Unfortunately the build quality is not that great. The "leather' from the ear cups has stripped completely and I had to use my sewing skills to patch them up because they totally fell off. The hinges on each ear broke and they are both being held together with super glue. Still sounds great after 3 years though. If you want something comfortable, with great sound then the Cb1 is a good buy, but if you are looking for durability.. get something else. P.s. Don't get the OneOdio if you care anything about sound quality. You will regret it. A friend of mine bought a pair and it sounds terrible. Save a little and get something better
Thanks for the advice!
I really enjoyed your review.😊
Thank you! Very helpful video!!
Glad it was helpful!
You make so good quality content may your channel grow millons of subscribers
Thank you so much Lokesh
Wonderful video,I love the way you're explaining all these details! Let me ask you something. Some of these headphones are made a lot of years ago.Does that count on the headphones quality?should I buy a newer pair of headphones?
I say, "no." Some of the best audio equipment was made/designed a long time ago. If it works for your studio, there's no reason for a company to change the way they make it. A good example is the Sony's. They're super old, but still get the job done in the RIGHT way for years and years.
@@SanjayC You're right! But electronic music is been evolved every day. New sounds, new genres, different ways to produce. We don't need headphones that can support the latest steps of the electronic music?
I’m sure there are advancements in technology that help improve the quality of various things. But sound standards haven’t changed much (except for music getting louder on platforms). For music production you want headphones that give you a sound that translates well on different consumer listening devices. If headphones like the Sony already deliver that, there’s not much to change. That said, some newer headphones like the Beyerdynamics offer some benefits in certain areas. But the difference serves peripheral needs like soundstage. But if that’s what you need, the newer headphones give it to you.
I would also recommend beyerdynamics. I've had a pair of dt770s for nearly 20 years. They are VERY well made. I also have a pair of superlux hd660 which are a cheap copy. Don't sound as good and broke after a fortnight...
Hi Sanjay. Thank you so much for all of your content! Great videos, great tips and excellent video quality. Good job! :-)
