Literally hurt my back JUST last night. Juji knew I needed this.
We saw chest cardio. Now you have shown lower back cardio. I remember arms cardio with Antoine Vaillant. At this point, there is no excuse for not doing cardio :)
This is great! What cardio is left to cardio then? Neck cardio? Traps cardio?

I had lower back pain for a month thinking my lower back muscles were strained. Until i walked into costco and gradually got to a 9 on the pain scale and could barely make it out of the store. Turns out i had a bulging disc that finally herniated and then sequestered (parts broke off). Long term lower back pain could be more than you think. Lower back pain for a day or 2 after deadlifts is normal but anything that lasts more than a week should get checked out.
These exercises are what helped me after my back surgery. I am mostly back pain free now 19 years after I had part of my spine cut out.
Spine cut out? 😅
@@HerpThatDerp1 yep I had a laminectamy and a partial diskectemy. They cut out 75% of my disk and the cut the bones away from where the sciatic nerve was pinched. I have a spot in my back wre my cord is relatively unprotected.
@@mikejanson3052 Sounds rough, glad the exercises help. I was 50/50 on your comment being something like that or a troll describing Mortal Kombat levels of damage.
You weren't alone in thinking he was trolling us lol
So excited to see Matt there, I'll listen to anything he has to teach
Using the band as a warm up today for my deadlifts, great idea
Your pain brings us joy! Keep the pain coming!
Good to have you back!!!!
Like it that Juji is still up for nearly everything
Glad to see you doing well, we love you man!!
We need more videos of you and Matt wenning desperately
KZhead makes no sence without You juji. Thanks you are back!! Greetings from Switzerland💪
Love a Juji hitter!!
We’ve missed you Juji!
I do a lot of RDL's to help my lower back. Ill start using my bands like Matt showed. Hard to remember all the technique advice he gives. Awesome video. Thanks Juji
Seeing mangus and juji together would be awesome. In my opinion juji, Devon, Anton, and magnus is a great combination
The beast of mufu is back and killing it.
Awesome! My two favorites!
Get a thick band like Matt says at 11:30 for the at home version & tell me how you guys feel after 10 minutes!
I'll get back to you when I can even do 10 minutes. It's a great recommendation though. Hadn't really thought to use the band that way but after most of a week I'm definitely keeping with it. Already like the bands because of how versatile they are.
We need a knee pain one. Having knee problems is so much more common than the back.
I am great Thanks ❤
@@user-cl7fm1uc4r - You're lifting far too heavy and aren't spending enough time recovering.
How can one search for gyms that have this machine? thx :)
That was really helpful, thank you ❤️
Juji's a beast
I treat good mornings like RDLs, one has weight below center of mass (barbell/dumbbell in hands), one is with weight nearest center of mass (Zercher), the other is weight above center of mass via the low bar good morning. This implement takes away the hamstring dominance aspect. Love it
How does raising the weight relative to the centre of mass change the hip/lower back emphasis?
Matt Wenning, the only man who would face the zombie apocalypse in slides.
juji now knows what its like to be a roofer
Good mornings. Very rare to see someone doing 'em . Not an ego lift. But to me the most effective lower back exercise . The band variation is also good. Did not know these. Thx for that
I actually found a back extension machine like this for the first time a few weeks ago at LA fitness and it’s been a godsend!
Which LA fitness? I don't think LA fitness has updated their roster of machines in years.
I’m doing the band variation from the end in my home gym tomorrow! I will post a follow up comment after but this looks killer!!!
the video is really helpful thank you for sharing
im a wheelchair user and core strength is one of the biggest weak points for me, ive been doing lower back extensions for 2 months now and it majorly helped me with balance, they are so worth it
Hey juji. I have had a lumbago a while back and these are very bad exercises for that. It was so bad I couldn't walk anymore. The cause is a strain in the muscles of the lower back. The solutions by my doctors was more core strength training, stretching hamstrings and the gluteus maximus and medius. I got it from using my back muscles 2 much in deadlifts and squats. You can overuse the lower back muscles. You need to make sure core, abdominal muscles (front) and back muscles are used in tandem. overarching is really bad for the back muscles.
Juji has enough flexibility and general strength to where these should be safe. And hes doing this under the supervision of a world class coach. He's in as good of hands as he can be in.
I find doing ab work gets rid of my lower back pumps the quickest
Same, i always do some situps after deadlifting
That’s the John Meadows way 🙏
This is what my doctor and physicist recommended
Don't get me wrong, Matt is a strong, knowledgeable guy, and knows training and coaching well. However, rarely have I seen someone say so many incorrect things so confidently as him in this video. Just to name a few: The lower back musculature (i.e. erector spinae, quadratus lumborum, multifidi, serratus posterior, etc) is not "encased in bone" any more than any other muscle. Furthermore, being muscle, it has very good blood supply, and in fact is worked a lot in daily life and with lifting. That's why you get a back pump with deadlifts or squats. Also, his idea about lactate is an old myth that refuses to die. Lactate is actually a fuel used in the Krebs cycle, it's not just waste that needs to be cleared as fact as possible. This Back Attack machine might work well, but not for most of the reasons Matt provided in this video.
I tried this with the bands. Got a great pump and didn’t feel like I was hurting my back for once.
Glad to have you back Goochi Hulu. Im you're biggest fan
I love your videos
Just ordered some anadrol, pink salt, a good morning machine and a ssb bar. Let's go baby!!!
My wife was wondering why I was watching a video with a guy screaming. Then she came in the room, saw it was Juji, and said: "Oh, it's that guy." 😂😂

Is it enough by me doing strict rows to traín my lowerback? And low rows and low pulls,
I live machines like this. I wish my gym had one along with a cable reverse hyper machine.
Hey juji how to interesting idea for a grip strength video. You might be able to solve the age old question why do our fingers wrinkle when we get submerged in water for a long time some say it is due to grip. I was wondering if you could test this maybe have one day seeing where your grip strength is that with dry hands and wet grips strength objects. coming back another day and testing it with wrinkly hands and then making sure the objects are wet as well
What app do y'all use with your BT hr monitor?
So it's almost a Myorep set, but EVEN MORE volume... I'm in
I remember Brian has that thing!
been using the band variation plus the stuff from "the invincible athlete" and my back has never been stronger, in fact just crushed a new deadlift PR
Thanks juji. Now I wanna watch death note
Boom Shaka laka!
So I did trapbar until I was pulling 400lbs on it and my lumbar with bad discs etc. felt the healthiest it has been in 25 years! Unfortunately, the trapbar is so GD stiff that the rest of me would feel chewed the fck up from the frequency so I stopped. *For you big lifters, this makes sense, but for gym athletes like myself, there's leg work that will perform way better without all the wear and tear to everything else.*
juji sure has come a long way he went from doing backflips and grip strength, now I see him doing podcasts for neaps lol

whats the difference between this and the back extension machine at my local PF? Is it the same? i like the pump after
That's what I was thinking. The one I've used was sitting vs standing. Not sure if that'd make a difference?
@@GODLOVERBAM doesn’t seem like there is tho, juji did say he can rest while on the machine so maybe there’s that 🤷🏻♂️
I got a machine at my gym that look like this one but instead of you standing you are sitting but it work the same kind of way minus the band. What do you think about it Juji ?
very simple. just try it out. personally i did not like it. the movementpattern felt strange. and pretty much ALL the people who use it are beginners that only use machines, tend to be old, specificly middleage women 😂 the people using it tend to overarch neck and lower back. i prefere highrep 45 degree hyper specificly superset with leg raises
@@maxsk9074 i do use it when I do my back workout was mostly curious on the difference standing and sitting does doing this movement
bro that looks even more intense than my 20rep breathing squats GOSHDAUM!
I hate the reverse hyper machines but this thing looks magnificent for the long-limbed gang. Trunk strength is everything.
I need this machine
Would love to see what Juji would look like natural again...
"succulent" 💯💯💯
The title made me think for a moment that you'd been hacked by a spammer or something
Just pointing out that he said twice that the muscles in the lower back were encased in bone and that's not accurate. There's a layer of facia over top of the muscles, but that's it. The only bones back there are the spine, lower ribs, sacrum and ilium. And unless I'm mistaken, there's no such thing as muscles that are encased in bone. The closest I can think of would be muscles that briefly pass through an opening like the obturator foramen.
Thank you. I cannot believe that nobody else mentioned the bone encased muscle.
You're absolutely right.
I overworked my back today with squats, stones and yoke going too heavy.
I do one where I hug a bench, face down, stomach and legs off the end. And then I let my legs lower, toes pointed back, and lift up my back end and legs as high as i can and slowly lower back down for a rep. I call them "Scorpion Kicks" because i dont know what they are actually called. But while I can do 5 x 8 of them, when i started out, I had to do 3 x 3 or my lower back would be hurting pretty bad for a few days. My equipment access is rather limited, and this is one of the few things I could manage for lower back activity. And they suuuuuck lol.
Kind of like a Superman hanging off the end, or a Reverse Cobra/Back Hyperextension.
This sounds a lot like the reverse hyperextension, just without the machine
Banana duck is crucial for recovery. 😅

Isn't the low back burning out often a sign of a mobility issue in the squat?
How would it be?
lol when i read the title i first read it as pure back pain in 10 minutes
I'd be in a wheel chair after that.
Maybe need a gurney!
I don't understand the thinking behind the idea that if your lower back is the limiting factor in your dead lift you should do isolation exercises to strength your back. If your lower back is the 'limiting' factor in your dead lift, then that means it's already getting a really good workout, your dead lift is already working it out maximally. The problem isn't that you lower back isn't getting enough training from your dead lift, it's your legs that are missing out. The best way then to increase your lower back strength if it's the limiting factor in your dead lift would be to dead lift until it get stronger.
