    • Even if he wanted to, it's not worth getting into an expensive battle with Boeing's legal army. He has a lot more to lose and really nothing to gain by saying what he thinks. As much money as he has, Boeing has more.

  • 1:27 Small detail, but that is the cockpit and side stick of the new generation of Gulfstream's (G500/600/700). Not the Praetor 500/600. Also, it was not mentioned but runway performance is not the only important performance metric to worry about, to determine if your airplane can go to whatever airport. Just because your nearest airport has a 6,000ft runway, and your plane can take off in 5,000ft at MTOW... that doesn't mean your plane can actually operate out of that airport. On the chart supplement for each airport, each individual runway has a maximum landing weight based off of the landing gear configuration for that airplane. If your airplane is above the maximum allowed weight, you can't land there, if they do allow you to land there you will have to be a massive fine/fee of likely in the $10,000+ range per landing. A lot of rural airports may have longer runways, that you would think could accommodate some larger corporate jets, but the runway asphalt/concrete is not thick enough to support the force of a 60,000-80,000lb landing on it. So that's why someone may choose a Praetor 500/600 over a larger three zone aircraft like a Gulfstream or a Global. You are able to access more airports.

  • I had a meeting with my wife while we ate breakfast this morning. Then I stopped by the gas station and had a meeting with the clerk to get some diesel on pump 5. Then after a while I had a meeting with my coworker for about 8 hours. Then a meeting with the grocery store clerk to exchange some money. Then another meeting with my wife during dinner. Excited for all my meetings tomorrow.

  • I know absolutely nothing about flying a plane, but are touch screens really a good idea? Do pilots actually like them, or are they just a cost saving for the manufacturer? Personally on cars, I absolutely hate touch screens, swiping through menus etc.

    • As the Boeing price might be just for a "basic" airplane..and the G650 price was "as seen". Just like building a house... it's $200K, but the land is $100K, it's going to take $$$ to furnish it, then another $$$ for the "personal" touches. The base plane has an outlet here, but I want it moved 18 inches...that's $$$

  • one question that I have that has been featured in the 13:00 plane. Why is it a one throttle stick? I get it, most private jets don't just ignore protocol. But, if you are going to tell me that one throttle is premium for private jets, then I think you have missed something vital to an engineering problem. If one thing fails, and it's your only control, you won't have the experienced pilots that can function under just one engine. In certain cases, you have to control engines in individual increments do to "weird avionic problems." Now, I'm willing to make a bet, either A: I'm full of crap and don't deserve to be noticed, or B: I deserve $1 million or more for saving CEO lives from potential mechanical malfunction death. If I'm featured, please help me financially or teach me the trade. You will find me to be an extremely quick learner.

  • Who wants a video game? The best airplanes were built years ago. Yes, the numbers are impressive on these new bizjets. But a classic JetStar, GII or III, Falcon 20, Lear 23/24, old DH-125, they were not video games. Real airplanes for real pilots that did not grow up on video games.
