A little arctic fox approached this fisherman while he was ice fishing inLabytnangi, Russia. The man tried to scare him away from his fish, but the baby fox was persistent. Eventually, the fisherman allowed the little white fox to take one of his fish.

  • If you are curious, here's the general translation. The man says "My fish, it's my fish in the hole!" "How can you be so impudent?!" "Don't eat it!" "Shoo!" Then after fox does the "digging" thing, he laughs and says "OK, fine, take it. You deserved it with that digging trick. Well done, handsome guy!" // This is not a word-for-word translation. He repeats most phrases several times. For example, "moya ryba!" (my fish!)

  • For all who feel sorry for this little fox. Will explain. The man was kind of playing with animal, testing his insolence, if he wanted to not give him a fish, he wouldn't. (For foreigners, Russian may sound menacing, but for those who speak it in intonation and words there was a playful manner, he spoke it smiling). This is an adult arctic fox, getting food for them is not a problem because he is one of the fastest predators in the arctic zone, + the other side of the coin is that if he does not scare this animal, then the arctic fox can get used to people and approach them, which can lead him to hunters who will kill him, that is, if he encourages such behavior, he will spoil his self-preservation instinct.

  • For us, it's something funny and adorable. For the fox, it was literally a fight for survival. The fox came coming back after the scared retreats, because he had no choice other than being brave.
