French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed he did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine, saying the issue would "legitimately" arise if russia broke through Ukrainian front lines and Kyiv made such a request, in an interview with the Economist published Thursday.
UK Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron has said it is up to Ukraine to decide how to use British weapons and insisted it has the right to strike targets on russian territory. During a visit to Kyiv, he said the UK would provide £3bn ($3.75bn) per year for as long as necessary.

Now that he has exhausted all political avenues, and realised who and what putin really is, he is the ONLY European leader who has placed no limits on France's potential involvement. Absolutely. It should be obvious by now that our Western leaders have not made winning in Ukraine a priority. They talk a good game but don't act accordingly. They are afraid of Russia. Putin has sensed this and therefore felt this was an opportunity to take Ukraine for Russia. Our leaders are too busy pushing climate change agendas, killing our oil/gas/coal industries, trying to mandate the public buy EVs and pay for wind/solar power generators as well as a host of other left-wing socialist agendas. As an American, I welcome Macron's principled stance. We (at least those of us in the US who aren't raving lunatics) have respect and admiration for our NATO partners, and thank them for all they have done, and continue to do, to help to achieve Ukrainian victory.
It's a strange Kabuki theater, where there are without doubt military advisors from all the major allies in Ukraine under the guise of labels like dipolomatic attache or paid contractor. Why not just admit personnel with military training are already there under the direction of their countries and these countries make it clear they are ready to increase the numbers of boots on the ground to the levels that Ukraine requests? I can see why America cannot do that during a crucial election year, but for other allies, why wait for Ukraine lines to be broken? That's Macron's condition, but why wait. There are many many non combat roles these troops would be useful for, and while they are not at war with Russia, the Russian military will recognized such coalition troops will defend themselves if they are attacked. Alternately, the western countries could adopt the Wagner model Russia has used in the various countries it is interfering in. Allow the existance of such groups of ex military personnel, and then fund their activities in Ukraine. That would release them for combat roles since they have plausible deniability- that they are acting on behalf of the Ukraine government, not of their birth countries. What is attractive about this approach is that this group could include those with sophisticated training in aircraft, air defense systems, and so on. For example, I can imagine Ukraine would find a use for squadron of F-15s able to deliver 2000 kg bombs, 28 precision bombs or JASSM-ER missiles for standoff missions, along with the trained crews able to service them.
I don't understand why so many of my fellow Americans aren't willing to spend as much as we can to help make sure Putin and his evil empire are stopped in their tracks. Are we going to wait until Putin makes it to Poland? Finland? How far will that slimeball have to go before we commit?

I was amazed to see how self sufficient you Ukrainians are. Like cooking outside because the kitchen was gone. All the food preserved in pots we rely on our supermarket and have forgotten how to pickle vegetables. I think a lot of people in the western world are forgotten how to survive without luxury. Just posted this on another site, but genuinely think we all need to take a unified stance like this: Democratic countries should create their own red lines. The red lines should be time based for example, if Russia does not leave Ukrainian territory in one month, longer range cruise missiles will be introduced, or non-Ukrainian troops will be introduced to guard inactive Ukrainian borders. This is not (as Russia claims) escalation, it is defense enforcement of international norms.

As a UK taxpayer and citizen, it makes me happy to hear our leadership clarify their position regarding how and where Ukraine chooses to use donated weapons. I hope other countries will follow suit, and I support President Macron's stance, too. Undoubtedly, Putin and his sock-puppets will start issuing veiled but empty nuclear threats which won't really wash with the UK and French. Both nations are capable of a response in kind which must be something of a buzzkill for the tinpot tsar.
