  • I had sudden onset acne in my early thirties. It was raging red and pulsating with pain. After several visits with various dermatologists, one diagnosed a dairy allergy. I stopped all dairy for six months and the acne cleared beautifully. So I started consuming dairy again. And the acne returned with its same vengeance. I quit dairy from then on and have remained acne free ever since.

  • I drink at least 3 liters of raw, organic milk every week and my skin is way better now and the probiotics that it contains make my gut feel very good. I think the difference between conventional pasteurized milk and raw organic milk is massively underrated!

    @arbretree5463@arbretree54632 жыл бұрын
    • That will eventually mess up your hormones, and could likely be from just the effects of the strong amount of probiotics which you can get from supplements without the high hormones in that amount of milk.

      @myhi6793@myhi67932 жыл бұрын
    • @@myhi6793 I have been doing this for more than a year now and my period seems unaffected still, even in times where I drank about 6 liters of milk a week (because I love the creamy taste ^^). True, but I believe getting probiotics or vitamins from food directly or the source directly is always preferable than getting it through supplements. Would you say milk has high hormones even if the cows were not given any growth hormones?

      @arbretree5463@arbretree54632 жыл бұрын
    • @@arbretree5463 Yes because during child birth the female body (including the cow) produces more estrogen to accommodate for the baby cow, that high amount of fat and estrogen from the milk also contains cow pus, this going in you body causes it to produce a lot of mucus and estrogen which could possibly lead to worsened emotions and mental health as well as pms, also could lead to uterine cysts form the estrogen. But if your ancestors have been surviving purely off milk as a staple in their diet than you could be a bit more resistant to the side effects of the milk unlike someone who’s ancestors never touched milk. Also getting probiotics in a supplement form has been shown to be the most beneficial since it has the highest amounts of good bacteria and good quality ones have the ability to withstand stomach acid, the ones in the fermentation of foods has been shown not to have as great health benefits as a good quality probiotic.

      @LouveniaMusic@LouveniaMusic5 жыл бұрын
    • @@LouveniaMusic The most important thing to keep in mind when going vegan is B12 (which can be obtained through supplements cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin), Omega-3 (obtainable from 2 tablespoons daily of flaxseeds or chia seeds) and protein (obtainable from legumes like adzuki beans, mung beans, chickpeas, black beans, lentils etc.) My typical (base) daily vegan diet consists of one scoop (30g) of plant based protein powder, 2 kiwis, 1 banana, lots of beans (adzuki beans, mung beans, etc.), lentils, a multivitamin pill which contains B12, and 2 tablespoons of Chia seeds. In addition to these (base diet), I will eat other random vegan foods. As long as the base diet is met, the micro and macro nutrient intakes are sufficient. Feel free to add anything to this base diet. Feel free to use spices , seasonings, sugar and salt to spice things up because these things are quite bland by themselves. Occasionally I will have vegan meat patties which I season with smoked praprika and some salt. I have also gone on and off the vegan train, many times, and have seen the difference that a plant based diet can make.

  • My husband has strange dairy allergy symptoms. He will be okay with the odd thin slice of cheese every 2-3 days until after about a fortnight, then he starts scratching his ankles and legs until the blood comes through. If he continues to eat cheese, the itchiness starts to appear around his waist too. For a long time, we didn't know what was causing these itchy rashes, so he went on an elimination diet and luckily dairy was the first food on the list. 2 weeks later and all symptoms vanished.

    • +Hollie Forrest I have too, great to hear you are dairy free. My chronic sinus infection cleared as soon as I gave up dairy, there are so many delicious vegan cheeses too. I also morally could not support the inherent cruelty of dairy farms most dairy cows are kept their whole lives in tiny stalls where they cannot even turn around, they are chained to the stall, and have their calves taken from them so they produce more milk. It is truly one of the saddest situations on earth, I am holding the intention and vision all of humanity evolves into compassion for themselves, all people and all other sentient beings. Cows are the sweetest animals they don't deserve this.

When he stopped both, he became a lot better. For example, check youtube video "The Milk Protein Casein and Bipolar Disorder" by Dr. David J. Clark. There is also a youtube video by Dr. David Clark called "Cheese causes seizures" on how seizure was gone after dairy was eliminated.

    @BourneAccident@BourneAccident8 жыл бұрын
    • +Bourne Accident "natural" is a meaningless term. If you think that's a good means of being healthy then you should ignore all forms of farming, because it's not "natural" to farm. You shouldn't cook anything because that's not "natural", either. Heck, you shouldn't even drink clean water because that's not natural ;) Organic is likewise just a marketing term and plays no role in safety or healthiness

      @ThePharphis@ThePharphis8 жыл бұрын
    • ThePharphis I agree, whereas the term "natural" has several meanings, most of which are subjective at best. But, I'd still rather farm, cook, & drink clean water than suck a cows teat. And when it comes to the term "organic", if that term ever had a role in safety or healthiness, the significance of that role has been lost a long time ago.

Then define organic. Of course, agriculture isn't my area of expertise but it doesn't take a genius to realize that something is a marketing ploy and doesn't translate to better health in any way. It's not like organic farming is pesticide free, despite that being what people usually think it is.

    • +ThePharphis bubba clearly doesn't see the point your regarding, your not wrong, but this isn't "the line" drawn between natural, and artificial, if you look at it from more of a chemical stand point, like adding hormones to increase production or preservatives to increase shelf life, this is where we draw the line, nothing is truly natural it's not rational, it's a value judgement, one that helps us communicate coherently, hope I cleared this up :)

I had stopped drinking milk for over 10 years already but it was still in junk foods, pre-made coffees and cheese/cream, which is when I changed my diet to completely non-diary, sure enough less than 6 months later I have no active cystic acne. We don’t need cows milk full of hormones, we aren’t baby cows that need to grow. I no longer struggle with cystic acne, IBS, mood swings, leaky gut, joints problems, severe fatigue, constipation, migraines, sleep issues and sinus infections. Thank you for sharing this, we need more people to know, just because they don’t have a reaction on the outside like I did, doesn’t mean it’s not causing inflammation on the inside. I now look much more healthier and I'm no longer feeling lethargic when I wake up in the morning. Also, it may sound weird but my erections are harder now! And my sex drive has increased greatly.. not sure if its because I've started eating more healthy stuff such as beans and lentils and no junk food but deep down I do believe its the cutting out dairy which contributed. Finally, MY IBS HAS DISAPEARRED! Why is it that I no longer feel the need to use the loo multiple times a day???? I now go once or twice, but when I was eating dairy I was going 3 to 4 times... never consuming dairy again that shit makes me feel horrible

She started eating meat again, and it’s like I have that loving mother I remembered as a child returned to me. I’m not saying I judge you unhealthy for going veg, in fact it may be perfect...for you, but you can make blanket statements about diets because they are different for different people. Do yourself a favor and continue to study the meat diet whilst being vegetarian. Make sure you aren’t missing something through your supplements or you may suffer as my mother did years down the road. And you don’t have to eat a lot of meat. In fact the biggest problem with American diet is the fixation on meat. We eat way too much of it, and vegetarians eat way too little. Moderation is the key to balance.

    • Yup, dairy is not necessarily the issue, unless you are seriously allergic to it. The real problem is the pasteurization process that destroys the beneficial enzymes and immunoglobulins contained in milk. Without these enzymes, the body cannot properly digest and assimilate milk. This is why I’m not a fan of Dr. Hyman’s opinions on dairy. He doesn’t touch on this issue very often, which is kind of irresponsible of him.

While I acknowledge that there is a small population who are genuinely lactose-intolerant, I don't think we need to villify milk per se. That's the reason I gave the example of people who live in the countryside. Almost all cultures, to my knowledge, have always seen milk as a wholesome food. Let's be practical and accept that the common man worldwide cannot afford almond/soy/rice/oat milk because they are so expensive. This 'milk is bad' fad can only be followed by the rich. I can accept it if a person says they do not like milk or it does not agree with them, but generalized statements like what this doctor is making are not acceptable to me. This is my opinion. • Once I understood the dismal conditions of dairy cows, chained to tiny stalls where they cannot even turn around, having their calves taken from them...then I learnt that dairy increases bone fractures and contains naturally occurring growth hormones which fuel cancer cells in humans I became 100% vegan. My chronic sinus infection cleared up and I had much more energy and peace of mind. We are not meant to drink another species milk, cows milk is designed for a baby cow. Love yourself, be kind to animals and choose a healthy vegan diet with a wide range of fruits/vegs/beans/nuts/seeds/whole grains gluten free ideally ect.. limited processed food which will reduce your risk for cancers of all kinds, heart disease, strokes ect... All the best to everyone, wishing everyone optimal health.

      @JRupe-pe5dj@JRupe-pe5dj8 жыл бұрын
    • +Justin Rupert Hello there. Most places actually chain them to the stalls, perhaps at small scale family run true farms which are less than 5% of milk prod. in US they are not chained. All female dairy cows at industry farms, (which is responsible for most of milk production), are constantly kept pregnant have their calves taken from them immediately, so they produce milk for human consumption. Cows only produce milk when they have a baby, the whole thing is completely immoral and cruel emotionally to physically something I wish no part of.

      @brandtmccall5184@brandtmccall51848 жыл бұрын
    • +Brandt McCall actually I know of about 4 farms. all +1000 cows who have free stall barns. all family owned and operated so come again?

      @JRupe-pe5dj@JRupe-pe5dj8 жыл бұрын
    • +Justin Rupert Hi Justin. The key answer is family operated. However the vast majority of dairy products come from large industrial producers, where cows are tethered via a chain to the stalls and are slaughtered as soon as they produce less milk, as it is not cost effective to keep them just sell them for meat. Not much gratitude for their service, I upon conscience alone cannot support this, all life is a blessing and deserves to be treated with respect and compassion in my humble opinion including yourself. Besides milk based on valid, credible med/nutritional studies isn't healthy. Even if a cow lived a fantastic life I wouldn't consume dairy products for health reasons along, I feel so much better once I stopped eating all dairy products, I could breathe properly.

      @brandtmccall5184@brandtmccall51848 жыл бұрын
    • +Brandt McCall 97% out of the thousands and tens of thousands of dairy farms ARE family owned and operated. you're condemning the other 97% when you talk about the three percent that are not...

  • Dairy saved my life. I have UC and last year I had a nightmare of a flare up and I thought my life was coming to an end. But dairy helped me maintain my weight and after I healed up due to the grace of Jesus, I continued dairy products. Dairy helps my body so much and my body doesn't reject it. I drink lots of milk, it fills me up and it soothes my digestive system and never in my life has it ever done any harm to me. Dairy was one of the only food groups I could eat during my flareup, most everything else would go straight through my body. But dairy always got absorbed because I could feel the energy from it. People are different, I'm someone who thrives with dairy. No doctor will ever fully understand the body.

    • @@brackguthrie9470 Define "excessive". That is circumstantial...sure, those with specific health conditions should be careful but studies show that ingestion of salt many times more than the amount recommended by the fda is far less problematic than consuming not enough. The FDA and other so-called "health" organizations push for as little salt in the diet as possible and this has deadly consequences...both in an acute sense (in places where there is high heat. People die of heat stroke/ exhaustion without enough salt) and long-term sense, where people who do not consume enough salt end up not properly digesting their food and as a result of this end up having severe malnutrition and inflammatory diseases due to the effect the undigested food particles (think gluten) have on the gut.

  • I’m surprised at the number of “thumbs down.” I’ve always had nothing but issues with dairy. Seems like a no brainer after putting it into perspective. Sure, there’s nutrients in it, but at what cost? I think it can sort of be addicting too which might be why some want to disagree because they just don’t want to give it up. That’s my guess. I love the elimination diet because you can really start to notice the problem foods and when I did this, a lot of issues disappeared including: digestive issues, acne, psoriasis, mood fluctuations, random inflammation/aches and pains throughout my body. Sometimes we just need to pay attention and notice the difference.

  • 6 years ago I went dairy-free and got rid of arthritis. My hands were almost useless and I could hardly write my name. I was in and out of my wheelchair about 3 times a years, each time up to one month because of my back. In the last 6 years, I have had one incident where I had to use the wheelchair and it was due to a broken ankle, not my back. Non-dairy milks are good and I have tried most of them. I like almond, coconut and have some soy as I am post menopausal. My daughter-in-law claims that I don't look a day older than when she first met me. She's sweet but no one thinks I am as old as I am. I eat very little meat, some fish and chicken occasionally and do not feel deprived. Having pain is not where I want to be again. Now if I want a slice of pizza, I'll have one. Not more. And I never want to go back to the pain I was living in.

Even homo milk at 3.25% still has not as much fat as the milk that comes out of the cow/goat/etc. If one is going to have milk, I'd suggest Raw or fermented A2 or goat milk (which is always a2 casein), unless you have lactose intolerance.

Really the only thing you can be sure of is the overwhelming majority of people with a platform have no idea what they are talking about. Am I not sure if dairy is good or bad but if you think about everything we eat 99% was not designed as food for another animal. At least dairy and honey were made with the specific intent of feeding something. No animal was born to be eaten, nuts and seeds are just baby plants, fruit and veggies are also just a way for the plant to propagate. The best advice I have heard is if something is wrong with your health you are probably eating wrong.
