    @Vigilante-rq8ek@Vigilante-rq8ek2 жыл бұрын
    • I think I have a different idea where, what Zarpedon saw was the result of Tyreen’s death which I theorize that when the vault hunters killed her it did kill the destroyer, but it simply would resurrect it in the world due to being released by her in the first place and as a consequence has its full power, but loses all the intelligence it had gained before because I believe that the destroyer may have the ability to resurrect and that might be another reason the eridians sought to contain it instead of killing it outright originally. (Also I do think that would be cool, but like he says in the video the stuff Jack saw happened exactly as was shown to him, so maybe it wouldn’t really work because I think it would have to be something absolutely made to happen, but horrific enough to spurn Zarpedon into such a desperate move given her personality) Still an awesome theory though :)

  • There was a theory about the traveler I like a lot. The eridians clearly moved between planets but we have never found the wreck of an eridian ship. Maybe they didn't use ships. Maybe they used a teleporting vault, perhaps even multiple teleporting vaults. It would explain why there were guardians inside the traveler(to protect the engine), it would explain why a beacon would make the vault stay in one place(the eridians probably used a similar system to call for a ride), and the traveler leaving the vault to fight on its own was likely a security feature to prevent non-eridians from using their transport methods. The only reason that the Vault of the Traveler was even still active is perhaps because somebody left it on an autopilot cycle before they trapped the destroyer.

He could have been created to somehow sway the Destroyer before they realized how truly powerful the Destroyer was and then, having no purpose, was locked away and abandoned in an attempt to stop Githian from harming anyone. • Zarpedon has a good heart; the Sentinel and the artifact revealed the truth of Pandora and Elpis being the key. Zarpedon thought that if you destroy a key, you can never open the cell. Jack is more greedy, power-hungry, it directed him to the Warrior; the creature intended to kill those that would seek to appease the Destroyer. Jack misinterprets this as something he can use but no matter what, it would ultimately result in his death. Just my head-canon explanation of what the artifact does.

But by the time of the presequel he still wasn't just fuelled by greed, he seemed have genuinely good intentions, and was only fighting Zarpedon because she was fighting him. I think what drove him mad was seeing the warrior something that he at first thought was a threat and that he could help with, in the future. And what drove him over the edge was getting that imprinted in to his. The warrior itself. And the future he saw came to pass, just not how he thought it would

    • @@maximillian5102 I view Jack in three different stages. I: Conflicted. Jack as we meet him in TPS genuinely wants to improve the state of the galaxy and Pandora. When he says he wants to wipe out bandits, he means the actual bandits. However, he also has a darker side. Not just his imprisonment of Angel, you CAN argue the justification of that, but his USE of Angel is the glimpse into his darker persona. He wants to advance his position in Hyperion and she can be the key. Again, at this stage you can argue exactly why. II: Enraged. This is that stage after he is betrayed by Lilith and her cohorts. It's not so much the betrayal itself, but the way Lilith and Moxxi approached it: with no remorse at all. This stage has Jack view the citizens of Pandora as bandits and he wants revenge. III: Mad/Deluded. This is after Lilith attempts to murder Jack. He now wants not only revenge, but domination. Not to help, but to control, but he still tells himself he is the same man from the beginning. Jack only ever uses the artifact by stage II. is intentions are no longer pure at this stage (if you want to argue they once were) and so he is guided down a different path than Zarpedon was.

  • My theory is that vaults monsters are either powerful creatures that the Eridians sealed for their protection or Genetically created creatures that have gotten too strong or just a prison. For instances, the Empyrean Sentinel and Traveler are most likely ancient fighters or knowledge holders that the Eridians use to use in battles and creatures like the Rampager, Warrior and the Graveward are genetically augmented weapons that have been deemed too dangerous to live but too costly to destroy

  • I think the reason for the Elpis vault was to warn people who might try to open Pandora, knowing that if they had the means to move Elpis they most likely would have conquered its vault. Also the secondary effect of creating more loyalists like the lost legion to protect it, which explains why Zarp wanted to destroy Elpis because she knew it was the key.

  • What if grave and wards job was to...take some kind of power from people? I mean think about it, the vault draws in people and it's one of the few vaults that seems like it's meant to be found. So what if the eridians were drawing in normal people, killing them with the initial protectors grave and ward and then gathering some kind of power from them or, more specifically, their souls? In a sense that would make the name fitting. It's protecting the dead, or more specifically the graves of the dead. And then from that you can get 2 explanations why, either the ancient eridians used this as some kind of test, like if you could defeat the strength of those who came before you, you get some reward like the artifact relic actually in the vault, or maybe this was specifically just the eridian form of a generator, used to lure in unsuspecting travelers and kill them for power...?

    @Vigilante-rq8ek@Vigilante-rq8ek2 жыл бұрын
  • Perhaps the graveward was meant to literally protect a grave. Maybe Eden 6 was a resting grounds for the eridians, and the Graveward was always at the ready to defend it,hence why it isn’t inside a vault. This is also probably the explanation for the Warrior which we never see leave a vault but rather come from the cliff below. Perhaps the vault is more than a cage but a vessel for the power of something else. They key unlocks not just the vault but the power of the being inside. That’s why the monsters can’t break free, and perhaps why they are so easily killed by hunters, because they only just woke up and haven’t regained all their power yet. Maybe that’s also why we see the rampager and other monsters evolve or become more powerful with new abilities throughout its fight, as it might more quickly regain its power after awakening. This theory of awakening also works because it’s implied that the monsters are in a sort of hibernation through the Nyriad log mentioning the feeding process.

  • Gythian has got to be my favorite Vault Monster thematically. Lovecraftian horror Vault Monster? Absolutely awesome. And I also agree that having the Destroyer just die with Tyreen would be very underwhelming after all of this build up. I like to think that that Tyreen couldn't leech it all to completion, since if she could, why didn't the Eridians make The Original Leech Siren do it? Besides, if Tyreen DID leech it all, shouldn't she be a little bit bigger? Like she is very big after, don't get me wrong but wouldn't she be at least somewhat planet sized?

  • I've have a hypotheses about Gythian. What if its title of eater of heart has a double meaning. On one hand, its shown to having the ability to influencing people by either making them bonded ( Cultist having a special connection to the heart that grants them some power) or curses them (people that aren't apart of the cult and negatively affect their lives .) And on the other hand, its about the size of half of a planet and from where the vault hunters fought Gythans heart, it looked like it was/had burrowed into the planet itself (outside of just going limp as it "died"). And if it was made by Erdians, then what if it was meant to intentionally wipe would other civilization's? As far as we know currently, the erdians only took notice of other civilizations only because of being potential food sources for the destroyer. So what if gythian was made and deployed as a giant leech to inhabitable plants to starve the destroyer, making the inhabitants fight against each other so that its left alone to go after the heart of the planet itself the core, where you know, the plant would ceased to be alive, therefore leaving nothing for the destroyer to consume. And I'm guessing that it was locked away due to it requiring too much time and Resorces to create multipliable gythans in the limited timespan they had, as well as just being dangerous to have around. That would explain on despite its size, gythian was able to be killed by a bunch of dhal soldiers as it looks relatively easy to infiltrate gythan and just cause a bunch of damage to its insides, an defense mechanism to prevent that from happening.

  • The Warrior is really a special case in my opinion, and the connection to the Artifact is pretty interesting as well. If Jack won in Borderlands 2, which was essentially to rid Pandora of the bandits, the storyline would have gone kaput since Tyreen and Troy would have nothing to come to and thus never started a cult to harness the Destroyer. Of course, whether this was Jack's true intent is up for debate, and it's only made more confusing with the introduction of the Artifact on Elpis. You could argue that Jack saw far enough into the future with it that he saw Tyreen and Troy interacting with the Destroyer, and since he also learned about the Warrior he put 2 and 2 together and wanted to use it to rid the world of gullible bandits who'd gladly hand Tyreen the power to awaken the Destroyer, or you could say that Lilith managed to destroy the Artifact before Jack got that far with it, and he only wanted to use the Warrior for his own business endeavors. Like basically the Warrior could have just ended the entire Borderlands Storyline if Jack won in the end of 2, which I find interesting and potentially adds more story to the influence the Artifact could have add in the story. (Yes I know none of this was shown in Jacks scene with the Artifact. Yes I know Jack wasn't a "good" person by any means and the possibility of him willingly saving the planet is pretty farfetched considering the state Hyperion was as a corporation at the time could imply it would be easy for him to just set up shop somewhere else, for example, Promethia, considering which at the time might not have even had the rebuilt Atlas Corp [Unless I'm missing something in the timeline but they couldn't have been that powerful at that point in time I assume if they did exist]. Also, the extent of Jacks knowledge on the Destroyer might warp this theory too. Jack, being evil, and wanting to control everything, might also have considered controlling the Destroyer as well IF he saw that far into the glimpse the Artifact gave him. As far as we know, Jack may have believed that the Destroyer died during the events of Borderlands 1 and that the only recoverable part of it was the Eye. Assuming Jack could have or did see that far into the Future, all of this could have been a possibility.) Load of fan theory but the Warrior is personally one of my favorite vault monsters and I only just realized this when thinking about the Warriors real purpose. I don't want to believe the Warrior is inherently evil, and that it only let Jack possibly control it was to eliminate the Bandits which it may have known could have led to the Destroyer being freed in any capacity, or it may have not and it just really was just a brainless creature made to obey the Eridians. Take this however you want, I could just be stupid and just overthinking it.

Could be that his purpose was to prevent the actual vault monster from escaping or prevent outsiders from getting inside. That would also add several follow up questions. What is Gravey really? What thing was important/dangerous enough to need a cell warden to protect the vault, which normally isnt really the case? Who put Gravey there to begin with?

    @ammarose9742@ammarose9742 Жыл бұрын
  • I like the idea of vault monsters being former Sentient life, it could even be used to explain the "created" vault monsters like gythian or graveward. After encountering people with borderline supernatural ability(sirens and such) they would make prisons to hold any that went out of line. Eventually they make dimensional prisons but after a while the prisoners mutate and became monsters. They eventually decide to study the process of which it occurs and try to replicate it(gythian) research leads to the creation of the guardians and other variants even so much as graveward. Guardians are then used to protect the prisons containing the mutated monsters or vaults containing pieces of advanced technology created as a byproduct of the aforementioned monster research. It could even mean that the destroyer that we see isn't even the original form of it but a monstrous mutated version lacking most of it's former intelligence. If that is true then the destroyer is an even bigger problem than before because it's prior intelligence could have potentially been reasoned with but now it might be impossible.

  • I think Elpis was the main Erydian base and colony back in the day, rather than Pandora. Think about it. When they turned the planet itself into a prison, it's moon would naturarily be the place where they would stage off their operations off while the planet was mined out and shifted around. Heck, Handsome Jack done the same with Helios station when he was doing his own mining effords rather than moving his command to Pandora first [building Opportunity]. Positioning Helios Station next to Elpis might even imply it's the perfect place from which to airstike things onto the landmasses of Pandora. With this in mind it would make sence the moon had more infrastructure left scince no athmosphere meant less people going to excavate it, you could hide it deeper underground [no destroyer-sized cage inside here] and no wind erosion (and psyco colonists) means more things are left intact on the surface. It doesn't matter whether the Traveler was technology or a form of life. I think that rather than beeing a prisoner, it was allied or subserviant to the Erydians who used it's ability to teleport as a moving base by rigging a small vault onto it. The Traveler could teleport to Erydians around the galaxy needing help, bring his vault that could house arms or warriors and use the vault space to evacuate Erydians if day was lost. Also size of the Traveler implies it would be very helpful in capturing vault monsters and maybe even contribute menial labour to construct some of the Vaults. Of course it is a theory and the Traveler could've just hacked it's Vault after the Erydians perished and became an intergalactic tourist (or felt that something was hunting it down).

  • Very simple retcon they could probably pull. Zarpedon likely saw visions of The Destroyer, and how Elpis was the key to unleashing it, and thus she tried to destroy the moon in order to prevent it's release. Jack likely saw something similar, but saw The Warrior as the key to fighting The Destroyer, but would rather have used it for his own personal reasons. Or maybe he saw the Calypso Twins in his visions, but attributed them to regular bandits, so he paid little attention to their role in his visions. (Or has this already been explained in game? I kinda skipped half the dialogue in BL3)
