I have watched a few videos with this young lady .Isn't she sensational. She is so talented and skilled .I'm in awe of her know-how.. If those brake shoes are ASBESTOS I am truly horrified . She will be dead within 10 years breathing in ASBESTOS. II IS TRULY DEADLY STUFF... I have great concern for her well-being..A dust mask is not enough to protect her she needs a DUST RESPIRATOR. I personally worked on many ASBESTOS brakes and always had a RESPIRATOR on .I had a work mate who died of ASBESTOSIS working on brakes . He never saw retirement..Someone please give her RESPIRATOR..She probably doesn't know how deadly brake dust is..I just hope the Chinese have banned ASBESTOS in China ..I would hate to see an harm come to her...
I agree with you in everything you said but I have this to add. It really needs to be done in an environment that will suck the asbestos dust through a HEPA filter and then exhaust outside. Even if it's on your clothes you'll get affected by it later. It only takes a little bit.
@Greggy P Hello Greg I also agree on every thing you said .I used to work on elevator brakes with my job . The older lifts still have ASBESTOS brake linings. I used to take my overalls off outside and never shook them so not to disturb any dust on them .I would put them in the washing machine . I wouldn't let my wife touch my overalls..There was a program in England in the late 60s and it was called .A SHILLING FOR ALICE. Alice was dieing of ASBESTOSIS..She used to wash her husbands overalls and used to shake the dust off before putting them in the washing machine not knowing the dust was deadly. Her husband died of ASBESTOSIS and she was to suffer the same fate. She got a pension of 1 shilling off the company for the death of her husband..It also showed an American woman whose husband died of ASBESTOSIS and she got 60 , 000 dollars compensation. That was a considerable amount in those days , late 60s. Some companies hid the fact that the dust was deadly .Some companies would employ older workers so they could possibly die of other causes before the ASBESTOS killed them .If I work on my car brakes , I hose the wheels and callipers to wet down and clean even though there isn't supposed to be any ASBESTOS in the car brake linings anymore .I even wear my dust respirator when working on my car brakes .As you say , it only takes a minimum amount of dust to kill you. Drum brakes don't have" pads "! Those are brake shoes. I was hand riveting brak shoes when I was 16 years old . This is not difficult in any way. Stop insulting women by being impressed when they do simply work . Replacing tires and brakes are the first tasks taught to beginners in the vehicle maintenance business.
