  • I actually love having quiet mornings, but as soon as I start working I need those lofi beats... I think they're a good balance... not totally silent but also not distracting... though if you're addicted to background noise, makes sense to give your brain a break from it all! 💛💛💛

  • You don't realize how much impact this video had on me, making me realize why I feel so incomfortable by the end of the day while I spend the entire day being afraid of silence and surrounding me with noice 24/7, why it is such a struggle to focus and why I feel so quickly submerged by every new task. I thought the videos, podcasts and all were relaxing me and putting me in a better mindset to work but it's just the opposite. As you said I'm not even letting myself a chance to focus with all of that. So thank you so so much for sharing this with us ! By sharing how you feel you may help many others to understand themselves and not feel alone, so again thank you queen ❤

  • This is so true. I protect my morning as much as I can. Social media is so hard on my mental health that I have to be strict. Starting my morning quietly and not touching my phone for the first hour is so so good. A rushed morning throws off the whole day.

  • I've been feeling the same exact way about how my attention span has shifted over the past few years since lockdown. This video makes me feel really inspired to dedicate my mornings to reteaching myself this positive habit. Not being able to focus on one thing for a long period of time like I used to in the past has been stressful to me. I think it's a big contributor to my lingering depression and inability to tackle and complete personal projects outside of work. Thanks so much for talking openly about it and giving this routine a shot - I'm going to try my best to emulate! xo

  • This is SUCH a good video! I have done the same, and while mine is more ‘night time’ quiet, it’s just important to unplug. I mean, I’ll write in my porch at night and listen to nature. Ok, I have cars and a train to contend with but it’s great to just hear the wind through the leaves, or the silence of the snow. Not me laughing so hard when you’re talking and the car horn starts honking and you shout at the window. Literally me when a train comes :D

  • When I study I NEED to have something going on in the background in order to not getting distracted. Something that has helped me finding the right balance is listening to music in a foreign language I can't understand a single word of. For example CHILL (guitar w voice) korean songs, or Sweden, or whatever is really far from the languages I speak (Italian and english). In this way I keep on having a good mood with chill music playing while not getting distracted. OR I just play asmrs 😂

  • Hey Hannah! I love your videos - just wanted to drop a comment about behavior change and these "tiny habits". I'm a senior in college now and one of the best courses I have even taken was a class called Exercise and Health Psychology. One of our semester long projects was picking some habit that we were going to break/introduce into our lives and practice it for the duration of the course. I actually picked something similar to what you're doing now: to detox from screen time before bed. I learned through this course that change can't happen by simply removing a behavior. You have to replace it with something else. I only found success after I intentionally filled the time that I would be on my phone with another activity: reading, music, etc. Food for thought!

  • Oh Hannah, you sound exactly like me last year before I got my adhd diagnosis. I thought having a "quiet" morning routine would fix my distraction, but I couldn't keep it up bc I was relying on willpower alone. For anyone reading, scientifically dopamine is what actually makes you feel motivation. An overload is bad, but it's a necessary neurotransmitter, and adhd brains are deficient in it to begin with. Hence distraction/low motivation. After a year of trying different medications I've landed on Noocube, which is a natural brain supplement. It helps me focus, get more done, and keep my house clean. But I let myself listen to podcasts now bc my motivation would plummet otherwise. Sorry for unsolicited advice, either way I hope you find some peace and understanding of how your brain works best. Love you Hannah❤️

  • Tysm for helping me realize that I’m not the only one struggling with limiting screen time. Making me feel productive. And honestly I need to stop listening to podcast because I think the main reason I use too much screen time is because I don’t have anything or anyone to entertain me. I don’t have a pet, any kids my age in my neighborhood, people to just go over to their house. It’s so hard but I’m pushing I just have that feeling in me to turn it on!

It forces us to reflect and be introspective, which is hugely important in development. Very interesting to see you address this and talk about it. 👏🏼
