  • 2 additional points to consider in your calculation. Chell is sort of in the slipstream of Wheatly, so as he is a sphere, she might actually be pulled towards him thanks to Mr. Magnus and his effects which could partially explain how Chell has such monstrous grip strength in these insanely high wind speeds. Your pressure difference assumed that the room is at sea level. Depending on where the shack is when she is ejected in the end of the game she could be a few miles under that level... increasing the pressure and hence also increasing the face ripping airspeeds significantly.

      @dadudeme@dadudeme Жыл бұрын
    • @@dadudeme Well, since you could see the moon right from the chamber, yes it's right at the surface. Why you are a few miles under the surface underground after, either GLaDOS moved the chamber or she has multiple chambers. I'd say she has more than one chamber because of how different Wheatley's chamber looks to GLaDOS' chamber.

    • This can be calculated by the elevator speed at the end, also consider that air is being pumped into the facility given its depth so it likely won't be that much denser than the depth level if it can be avoided.

    • Steve Hills “The old game theory was better!” you say. Geez, everyone nowadays is thinking that. I understand that you enjoyed the old ones better. So did I. But it’s an unrealistic standard to expect that the sequels will stand up to the originals. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Superhero franchises, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, TV shows, and even KZheadrs. This list goes on. Nearly everyone could agree that in one of these categories, the original was better. But expecting that the new stuff will satisfy you just as much, is unfair and unrealistic. The new stuff can still be good, but nostalgia will make you like the original more nearly every time. I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve been watching this channel from the beginning, but every time a new FNAF video appears in my recommended, I think, “Aww $H!T, here we go again.” I’m tired of them. But to complain about how the old stuff was better all the time is just annoying at this point because it’s a poor way to think about things you could easily enjoy. Now I’m not saying you have to like it, you’re obviously entitled to your opinion, I’m not denying that. I’m just saying don’t let nostalgia destroy your ability to enjoy new content. I do feel where you’re coming from, but I just think you need to at least consider what I’m saying. But again, you’re entitled to your opinion so you can completely disregard my words if you like. Free will and all. God bless and see ya fellow OG theorist.

It's far better to just randomize the question order a few times and shuffle the printed tests so students can't predict if the people around them have the same questions they do. You then just put a mark on the paper somewhere to indicate which random version it is so you can still grade it quickly. People have been using this strategy since computers used punch cards. You can even have it randomly give a set number of questions out of a larger pool of questions so any 2 people aren't likely to have the same questions at all (most standardized tests do this in batch form so you can't know the questions year over year). At this point, you could set it up with pre-printed student names at the top of the page, put in your student's name and have the computer show you exactly what answers that student should have given (or what key points you are expecting to see if it's essay form).

  • Ooh! Aerospace Engineering student here! I can contribute! I did the math! One part that was left out which plays a HUGE roll in the forces she experiences is the DENSITY of the air hitting her. Your math is correct if she were in some test tube like NACA, or in earth's atmosphere, but she ISN'T on Earth, she's on the moon! Sure she's bombarded by 1atm pressure difference (technically even more since she's deep underground), but when you have a huge pressure gradient like this you also have a huge change in the density of the air. I did the math (it was actually a lot of fun!), and it turns out that the density of the airflow on the moon in her situation would be about 33% that of the air density on Earth. This would mean that the forces she is getting hit by is approximately 1/3 that of the cited experiments. So instead of feeling like she's being hit by a whopping 910 mph wind, due to the density of the airflow dropping so much, it would feel like she was being hit by about 303 mph winds, which ends up being much more manageable, and even below those extreme test situations.

It'd probably come down more to how much noise is made as air passes through a portal. @Klick404@Klick4043 жыл бұрын
    • problem with that is.... Whitley is round. so he would not as much "block" the wind as just redirect it around it. Round/spherical/cylindrical objects dont block wind, they just let the wind flow around them.. so while the speed would be ever so sligthly lower, it would not change anything

    • @@weberman173 Wheatley would definitely make a slipstream, and probably one big enough for Chell to fit in. In fact, he'd be making a sonic boom, and as long as Chell stays inside of the cone created by that sonic boom, she'd be fine. Although now moon gravity is an issue...
