By f1 standards he was poor though.
@@cyan_oxy6734 Yes, but he was not. He recognizes that it is literally impossible to this while actually poor, that you have to be reasonably well off to even attempt it. And that he was, in the grand scheme of things, incredibly well off. That's the class part.
agreed im sure the question was with the F1 perspective, but he really took that word and reframed it in such a right way.

When not competing with his teammates, Esteban is the most chill driver.
Along with Ayumu Uehara and Shioriko Mifune (ShioPomu).
I don’t trust a man who knows how to belly dance like shakira . That’s not trusty at all .
Senna was like that. He was the most likable guy until he got behind the wheel. Not saying ocon is as good as senna but his mentality is there. Ocon has been keeping up w the toughest teammates you could pair him up with.

@@jeankitten3685 no I didn’t say he was near him skill wise, very very few drivers ever were. But he’s got the mentality of a fighter, we’ve seen it in all our champions and even the likes of kubica, lando, leclerc, etc. You can’t say the same about all drivers in f1, they don’t have the mental to beat your opponents down even when they have the cards going for them.
I have a soft spot for drivers with humble beginnings. Best of luck, Esteban!

Huge respect to Matt and Tommy. 2 guys who just love F1 and pursue their dream. They are the perfect mix of being knowledgable about what they talk about and being fun while doing it at the same time. By far my favourites for F1 content along with Peter Windsor.
They are far less knowledgeable than Peter but they are indeed knowledgeable enough and while Peter lets his adoration for Lewis shine through, they are just blatantly a crying Tifosi and a Maxfan with a lot of humor. Perfect mix imho

What I love about Esteban's win is that it was one of the rare times it was a team effort. Alonso holding back Hamilton for 17/18 laps was epic, and it kept enough of a buffer for Esteban to keep P1. Their celebration afterwards was one of the highlights of 2021.

The fact that Esteban was pretty much toying with a four time WDC shows how good he is. Also the only one of Fernando's teammates that usually had better racepace than Nando. Now his qualifying has improved a bit more too. Still a bit on/off, but that Monaco was impressive

you can love or hate Estie's character inside the cockpit, but we can't deny in daily basis he is loveable person.
We want more OCON! Ever since his win I've had mad respect for the man.
Ocon seems like a super nice guy, glad they're improving the Alpine, I like Gasly as well, so it's cool to have a French team with two French drivers.
I've recently realized that I need to give Ocon more credit for the skilful competitor that he is. My resoect for him has really gone up a lot this season and things like this help with that a lot.
Every time I see Esteban I like him more and more.

Never really liked Estaban but in the past few years he's grown on me, and i think if he was given the right car he would make for an interesting title battle since he doesn't back out of any situation.
Off track I kinda like him. On track not so much. He has a habit of crashing into teammates or defending them super hard.
@@suckieduckie Now imagine him and Max in the RB19 and yeah Max might win 8/10 of the battles but at least they would be exciting to watch.
He cant challenge for the title realistically, but he could probably fight with the likes of alex, perez, sainz, etc.

It has been great getting to know Estie better through his videos with Matt. He seems like he'd be a cool guy to just hang with.
It’s in tense difficult moments when true character really comes out. I agree he’s really nice and likeable on interviews, but I believe what we see in track to be his real self. Under comfortable and hospitable conditions being nice is easy. Being competitive AND elegant on track, tho, that’s a whole different matter.
The real answer to the height difference is the fact that your height can fluctuate by up to about an inch (~2.5cm) throughout a day. Gravity compresses your spine, then it expands when you sleep. So you are tallest when you first get out of bed.

@@sinner2208 in the end we all live paycheck to paycheck, thing is most people in the West can afford those paychecks. And if you have money spare to go motor racing you consciously add to those paychecks ;-) Obviously guys like Max, Sainz and Charles had more money growing up, but not be Monegasque or having a famous father doesn't necessarily make you poor.
His family were middle class. Not poor by normal person standards, but it's almost unthinkable that someone from that background could get into F1.

I’d say not liking Esteban is a bit harsh. I will say that he was definitely one of the drivers I knew the least about, before these videos with him at least, but since you’ve had him on a time or two now I feel like I know him a bit better and he seems like a good guy.
