Rivendale is elegant and beautiful, but the shire is home. I'd love to live there with my books, a pot of soup on the stove and a cozy fire. My cat is enjoying watching with me. Awesome!

If these old houses had bathrooms, there would also need to be sewers and water treatment plants. We forget sometimes that right up until the late 1800’s houses didn’t have flushing toilets or bathrooms. Many houses didn’t have either until the late 1960’s ! Friends of mine went to live in rural Ireland in the 1970’s and if they needed the toilet at someone’s house, they were given a trowel and sent out into the back garden! Just saying……. But the pictures are beautiful.
