Best winter person car in the history. Subaru symmetrical AWD system is much better than Audi Quattro system.
Actually no, it's not. You need to read studies. Subaru came in 3rd I believe. Audi was #1, Jeep #2. Subaru's viscous coupler for it's t-case is it's downfall. The introduction of the ATV(active torque vectoring) improve quite a bit but it's only available on certain models.
Mor Bid Subaru has made a few different systems over the years for both the manual and automatic transmissions. I largely disagree that the viscous limited slip unit on the center diff of the common 5-speed manual trannies is it's downfall. While it CAN do a few strange things, that system is low cost, durable, and highly effective. Subaru not offering diff locks or good limited slip units front and rear as an option on ALL models and platforms is the shortcoming most obvious to me.

snowrocket I do agree with the differentials... BTW, to all. I own a 2015 Legacy which is leaps and bounds better than prior legacy models due to the 'ATV' but it is not as good as my Auto AWD 2000 GMCYukon, partly due a few reasons, weight, clearance and tires... No doubt, my Yukon smokes the abilities of my Subaru. I'd rather drive my 15yr old 170kmi beater Yukon over my Subaru in a storm. it does THAT much better.
Mor Bid Mor, I'll have to take your word on the Yukon: I've never driven one in a snow storm, but would like to! Weight: More IS sometimes better in snow. Clearance: Most Subarus have 5-8" of ground clearance. They start to struggle in wet snow (like anything will) when you start pushing snow and dragging the underside. Tires: If you had exactly the same make and model of tires on the Legacy and the Yukon, I'd be a little surprised if they were much different at 3" or less of snow. In deep snow, larger diameter tires ARE superior. In the end, the greatness of the Yukon is it'll do most everything you need it to do except get good fuel economy and fit in small places.

i drive a dodge 4x4 with the 5.7 Hemi. But the last few years the gas prices are killing me. I am planning on getting a 2002-04 subaru wrx in the next few months. I will be taking it on a trip to snow country in the middle of winter, which is why im asking about the tires. They perform perfect in this video!

ya i agree. I was actually hoping he would come on and reply as to what brand/type of tires they were. Im gonna be driving in the snow this winter and was hoping to get the same ones hes got. They obviously work well.

@selen1um this is true, I've had my windshield cracked for about 5 months till I replaced it.... Japanese glass is terrible. Gotta get the glass made by ford. A brick fell off and hit my windshield and it was still intact and not scratch nor a starburst.

@selen1um hmm. kind of an odd statement to make, i have and 04 sti and no cracks in my windshield, and i have seen many other sti's with not cracks in their windshields

No Sir! Had to go reverse and forward couple times but we got out no problem, and all my neighbors used my path I created to get to their cars lol it was funny back then our complex didn't have snow removal it was fun times!

@AyashiFX55 Not in deep snow or dirt, evo's stock diffs cannot handle it (they're not sealed as good as Subaru's)

Lol plus it's Colorado we don't use salt on roads we use rocks, everyone drives with cracked windshields. I just bought e55 AMG 3 weeks and already have a chip and it's not even winter yet.

I owned a 2003 evo 8 and my younger brother had a 04 sti during the same time same frame. Both are def capable of driving in the snow. The evo had more top end and more manageable at high speed roads but the Sti's torque and comfort features made it more livable..

@xusisf best combo I think (from experience with my 05: 750cc injectors, walbro 255lph fuel pump, 3pm down pipe-back exhaust, and I had a perrin performance boost controller pushing 22 psi of boost with a 23 spike
