It’s time for a Toyota GR Yaris showdown! We’ve brought in the regular GR Yaris to take on a Litchfield-tuned GR Yaris.
We all know by now that the regular GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and that it’ll produce 261hp & 360Nm. However, the Litchfield edition has been fitted with a Piggyback ECU along with a special air filter, and as a result, it now produced 302hp & 390Nm!
So the tuned car seems like the clear favourite on paper, and when you consider it only cost £640 for the upgrade, we’re wondering whether a visit to Litchfield is the obvious choice for any GR Yaris owner?

Adding OEM forced induction to the 86/BRZ would increase weight, complexity, center of gravity, cost, and throttle response. It would be amazing if it could get more power but I personally would not sacrifice those attributes for it. They are what make that car great!!
@@autohans540 True, however bringing the 86 platform to 300hp wouldn't cannibalize WRX sales. They're still significantly different cars, RWD vs AWD, plus the WRX is a significantly more practical car as it's 4 door

here in Brazil there are some VW Up TSI that managed to reach almost 300ps with a 1L 3cyl, downsizing ain't that bad man

@@sheabrown a well known youtuber bought a yaris then approached litchfield asking THEM to pay $25k + supply their suspension + portion of all future sales for the pleasure of installing/developing his car. Litchfield politely told him to go fuck himself, did the upgrade on, I assume, their own new Yaris and let all the other youtubers review it.

What hot hatches? It is far faster than the cars it was designed to compete with and besides is not just about speed. Its about how it handles if you had driven it..

@@flowmastaflam I seriously doubt it - all of the cars you mention are over 150kg heavier and aside from the RS are front wheel drive which limits how effectively they can put the power down and none of them are a homologation WRC racing car..

Does the tune and or intake void that 5 or any warranty?
Where did you get the weight from? The standard car is 1280kg and the circuit pack is 1310kg (+30kg) I believe. That would be the two additional diffs (45kg) and the reduction of weight through the forged alloys (-15kg). Edit: oh and the thicker anti roll bars on the circuit pack.

I doubt it was 12’s strongly. The timings on these car wow videos are widely inaccurate.I reckon 14 secs for stock and a tad under for the tuned

The tuned Yaris is definitely quicker than the stock one due to more horsepower but why does the stock one picks up quicker?

Because nowadays tuning in turbo engine is basically putting more pressure, the higher the pressure, the higher reaction time before reaching the target pressure. Which in turn make the tuned gr rubbish as you see how much the suspension is moving when releasing gas or kicking in..... Making it more powerful on the paper probably but not much on a circuit laptime I'd say.
I've never seen Mat shift so fast.
