  • Unbelievable that 43 years have passed. I was a regular at Elland Road 65-75. What a magical decade that was.

    • Lucky man seeing that 10-12 years because come '75 when Don left that was it. Jack Charlton was the guy to replace Revie but was he considered & would he take it.

  • I remember as a boy hating Leeds, but not for being dirty cheaters. Looking back at these old matches, I believe more than ever that narrative was bunk, perpetuated by mere repetition of their jealous competitors. Leeds' control and pace were both extraordinary, and had good depth into their reserves. In this match, Man U did an excellent job of frustrating a superior team. The EPL matches of today aren't worth the ticket prices, not even close.

    • @Martin To be honest I think two things can be true at the same time - yes they were a great team, no question, but they had some pretty rough players too.

  • More enjoyable than most six goal thrillers in today's Premier League... Good job by Man U to contain the mighty Leeds machine. Stepney excellent, only other player from that team of Leeds quality was Martin Buchan. Great battle between Greenhoff and Bremner.

  • I was a regular at Elland Rd from 1969 onwards and bought my first season ticket the season after this one 1974 Brian clough had arrived and my season ticket cost 35 quid for a seat in the North East stand!!!

  • In the days of proper football, loved this era , some great players , playing with passion and a spirit lacking in today's games....hard tackling,...muddy pitches,...and an atmosphere that was both stirring and inspiring....great times

    • There was some really meaty tackles from both sides but without complaint. The referee had a good game & was definitely in charge overall. Leeds were showing their new demeanor as prescribed by the great Don & Man Utd were a mish mash of desperados & the only way up was by going the only way down where a rebirth, by the Doc, would take place. Leeds, alas, hung on to many of their great players to long (the problem was that they were still great!) & eventually the edifice collapsed. Great to have these old games of real in your face wince battles. Football has to change now from this over egged gravy train. I hope Coronavirus makes the top two divisions to collapse into administrations & we get back to football basics. Its in the fans feet. Dont go until it changes.

  • Three occasions when the Gelderd End would be guaranteed to buzz with excitement. 1. Lorimer lining up to take a free kick with the goal in visual range. 2. Eddie Gray on the ball taking on a defender - hopes of Burnley revisited. 3..Billy Bremner on the ball anywhere - a sense that anything cold happen.

  • Wow, What an array of talent on show on both sides. And all with household names us Brits could pronounce. Surely the sleeping giant that is the great Leeds Utd will, one day, awake from it's long slumber and shake up the establishment again! Until then, one can only look back and reminisce! C'mon Leeds, wake up!!!!
