  • The bedroom of someone who was loved so much by her parents- I love the way they raised you. Look at where you are, literally just because they believed you when you said exactly what would make you happy. Keep shining, Emma!

  • Some thoughts: 1. Emma looks even more beautiful than usual in this video. Its her soft yellow hoodie, healthier-looking soft brown hair in an updo with some tendrils on her forehead and cheeks, the lighting in the room, the lack of shadows under her eyes, and that small smile on her face - she is looking healthier and happier, touchwood :) 2. The fact that her room has been preserved so carefully by her father is incredibly sweet. As someone else commented, its as though his daughter just moved out one day and time stopped in her bedroom. Even the red clock in the opening shot reinforces this idea. 3. The letters to the fairies, pleading with them to buy her fairy houses and live in them, were extremely adorable and touching. I was surprised at how little emotion Emma chose to display about these relics of her past, considering that of all the cute things about her childhood, this seems to be one of the cutest. 4. That diary entry - god, that diary entry. It was as though I was watching some sort of sports movie about a champion of cricket, perhaps, picking up his first cricket ball with wonder and turning it over while his present-day self narrates how as a little child, cricket was his biggest passion, and then there is a montage of that child hitting his first few shots which segues into the adult playing for his country in the World Cup. There was something so incredibly poignant about that moment when she reads out "This summer I am going to make a lot of videos..." and that silence and a small, proud smile, followed by "...and I did!" - that silence held all we knew of Emma Chamberlain over the years, the growth, the success, the fame, but it also held the hard work, the hours of editing, the breakdowns, the media treatment. So much was encapsulated in that single moment, that even though we know its a real experience that this real woman is having, it felt almost cinematic. 5. The simplicity of this place - the small room, the colour of the walls, the soft comforting paintings all around, those lacy curtains with that simple view outside, the slightly-crowded closet filled with a childhood - I wonder whether this evokes feelings of nostalgia in Emma for a simpler time when she didn't live in a mansion in LA all by herself. It seems to me that living in a room saturated with so much love and warmth, it must not be easy to return to the large, cool, impersonal mansion. One of her best videos yet. Absolutely loved it. Her work ethic and dedication are pretty inspiring even to those of us who do not work in the same industry.
