A remote backcountry bear hunt to get Jeff his first Spring Bear. A great color phase black bear we watched for a few days finally slipped up and we capitalized after a 6 hour stake out.

  • Great video guys. Please cherish those hunts with your Dad, you are so lucky to be able to do so and also have it all on video to watch forever. And your Dad is a stud to still be packing in and out of those hills. His smile after the painful wait to shoot says it all! Loved the video!

    • Thanks for the comment. It’s great having a hunting partner with the same mindset and passion. We have had some off camera disagreements 🙂 but sometimes those are healthy in order to move forward with the hunt lol. When your hunting with family you can tend to be more opinionated than with a friend. Regardless of the outcome, we have created some amazing memories together that we will have forever! Thanks for watching!

  • I've been packing in and hunting that same exact set of ridges for 7 years. I appreciate you guys not posting as many location drops on this year's video as the area seems to be getting more people action the last few years.

    • I have tried to keep my OnX maps and overall scenery maps as vague as possible while still trying to paint somewhat of a picture of the landscape. I feel like you would have had to have hunted here previously in order to figure it out based on the video. (At least that was my intent). Thanks for watching. Maybe see you out there some year.

      @heavyhunts@heavyhunts9 ай бұрын
    • @@heavyhunts I think you did a great job on this one not giving it away. The video you put together last year was a little bit more obvious, but once again I think someone would really have to search hard to see where you guys are going. I enjoy watching you guys hunt the same terrain. I know how how tough and rugged it is dropping in and out of those drainages, but also know how rewarding it is. We must have missed you guys by a few weeks this year. We pulled three bears out of there this spring.

    • Nice. We ended up shooting 2. I’m posting the other video when I finish editing. My bear was not as big but it was the last day. We will probably go back next year but I’ll be holding out for a big chocolate. And yes that’s some steep country but i like the workouts! Congrats on your bear!

  • just a suggestion bro. give a commentary by adding your voice after the shoot is over. If you keeping showing footage of yourself walking and filming as you talk it kind off starts to get monotonous. Its better if you use that time to show the scenery and all the action taking place. Its a suggestion do not take it negatively or feel bad. Am not complaining or being critical. End of the day you invested a lot in making this video and the results are good.

  • This video is freakin awesome! It gets me excited to try to do it myself one day and was wondering what dates you hunted and have had the most success when going?

    @spencercook7117@spencercook711722 күн бұрын
    • Thanks for the comment. I have always gone the last week of April or the first week of May. So that’s the only dates I have experience but we have always been in the bear during those dates. I’ll be going about that time again this year. Good luck when you give it a shot!

  • What kuiu pack were you using?

    @tanderson166@tanderson1669 ай бұрын
    • I’m not by my pack right now but I believe it’s a 5600 which I do t think they make anymore. My dad just bought the Pro 7800 bag. I would recommend the at least the 6000 or the 7800 if your doing extended backcountry hunt for a week or more. More room is always better than less and I think the weight difference between the 6000 and 7800 is less than 4oz. We really like the design and feel of the Kuiu packs.
