  • I've been through Justin's course paused this month for personal reasons. I'm telling you this because I've spent very little time and i ve got more benefits than any high school college or university method combined. It's almost criminal that they don't teach what he does. I don't think he says anything that i didnt hear but as i digged deeper in to how the foundations of the course and post strengthening that then adding the extra layers give you benefits like nothing else. Even in this video I feel like it was a great refresher for me of the course. I'm a beginner by all standards but just this modification makes a ton of difference. Planned discomfort made fun of i had to sum up Justin's course for ya. Thank your for your time 🙏

  • Also make a video on Time Scheduling during school times, since I want to still get a lot done (which I do, as I am Mr. Hoorn), but also have to be in school physically during the week, as well as travel. Thus, 3 hour time blocks are not really doable, especially since school wastingly eats up my energy. I am looking for even better ways to do it.

  • Great tips and ideas. I know I've gone through AS, BS degrees okay but now that I am going for my MSN/NP it is quite challenging. I think it is due to the pressure of wanting to be better with what I know and not just memorizing but understanding and applying. It's frustrating trying to learn the best way to study and manage tasks while in the middle of important information that I'm currently learning in my studies/courses. How does one implement your study along with the plethora amount of studying I am supposed to be doing?

  • That point about being able to tell the passage of time accurately is very much my situation as well. I didn’t schedule my time but I was practicing law in a big firm for a bunch of years and it was a pressure cooker about 85-90% of the time. Instilled in me that weird awareness of time passing - and the utility of it is pretty low given what I paid in terms of mental stress. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I am also very sensitive to time so I could relate... And I am SO guilty of doing a lot of smaller tasks to feel more productive. For example, even if I complete a big assignment, I feel a need to do something small as well just so that I get a feeling of "I worked on two assignments today". It sounds much better than "I only worked on ... today" even if I did get a lot done. However, it doesn't really matter in my case because I have to finish all the assignments I have anyway 🥲and I feel like I can focus better on bigger tasks if I know that I have the smaller ones taken care of. However, I tend to start obsessing over the small stuff to give myself excuses not to work on the big assignments (even if the big assignment is due before the small stuff, I want to get the small stuff done as well). I will practice prioritising! Thanks for bringing this to my attention 💕

    @AngelsAndButterflies@AngelsAndButterflies Жыл бұрын
    • Hey, this really resonated with me and I feel the EXACT same way. I feel better with myself knowing I did more tasks irrespective of how important they really were and tend to use the smaller tasks to procrastinate from the bigger tasks. But like you'll I will also practise prioritising because to be fair, doing the bigger tasks is a big sigh of relief usually so I think Justin's method is something I'll test out.

  • This video is gold. And it translates in many ways. As someone with ADHD, time management isn't something I can do well at all. The very opposite actually. So I've had to adapt to a more chaotic way my brain is capable of managing life and all it's critical tasks. Yes I fall behind, but it compels the very means to go above and beyond to make up for it. It's something that I've done to succeed unconciously my entire life, and something I had to realise was necessary when I was trying to follow conventional means of studying and productivity, and college deadlines being a huge catalyst, I fell back worse than I ever did in my life. And I was confused and depressed and miserable because who wouldve known the counter intuitive to everything everybody will tell you; is very the thing you will be vye better with as an individual. Once I learnt that, it was like the mist being wiped away after so long. Catching up>trying to keep up. Well... at least outside of sex.

    @msm7076@msm7076 Жыл бұрын
    • I am not associated with Dr. Sung, but I have gpa of 4.0 in fourth year of Computer Science (lots of maths 😅) at university. Yes, obviously reading books for maths in much less important, but there is much you can do in application. I'll break it down: - Learning has multiple steps. Among them : - Remembering : knowing y = mx + b - Understanding : using that formula to get m through isolation - Analyzing : knowing how and why the slope plays into calculus, and what you can do with said link. Generally, especially in high school, Remembering with a bit of Understanding is enough. But for math, Analyzing is much more important. It should be NUMBER 1 Priority. So students are stuck because they spent their wholes lives just remembering and understanding. Here are some actionable steps: - When you read a math textbook, always try to guess a formula or any new information. You probably wont get it right but ALWAYS try to guess. It will make you think and extrapolate from your knowledge - If you do not suffer from social anxiety, asking a lot of questions in class will always be helpful. It's embarrassing, but it will force you to analyze what you learn. Even just thinking about possible questions and not asking them will help. - Often I found easy problems boring and somewhat difficult problems exhausting. But when a problem is very hard it becomes a game, sort of like sudoku or a rubiks cube. It doesn't feel good to solve any problem unless they are difficult. And remember that difficulty is relative to who you are. Good Luck :)

    • Currently in the UK studying Further Maths and CompSci at A level. Appreciate this comment a lot. Would like to know how you remember maths problems, for example if I complete a section in a textbook on complex numbers, how do u remember the steps u took a few months later?

      @koji4059@koji4059 Жыл бұрын
    • @@koji4059 That's a great question. THEORY : The very idea that you should remember it again and again to ingrain it in your brain is, imo, very flawed with math. You'll notice that lots of people lose their native tongue after not speaking it for years, but it's pretty difficult to forget what 8 + 3 is. Honestly, I don't know what it is, but I can calculate it trivially. In math, the end goal is exactly that. Storing functions which allow us to indirectly remember things. Think about a png of an image. The data is stored and compressed but it's not lossy: all the data is just rearranged. For JPEGS, some quality IS lost. Science is not logical since it uses abductions to create theories (this might seem stupid, but the gist is that you cant do science by staying in your room and just thinking and thinking: we need data). Which means that every piece of information is vital Math, instead, is logical, which means you can absolutely compress every single bit of information down to an ultimate core and unravel it in your mind. So when you study maths, I think about a core concept and think "well if thats true, then that must be true" and just go on and on. This is much easier to learn and remember for a couple of reasons: 1. Its just less info to learn 2. You create links, which are easier to remember. I dont think "divisions are not reversible" It just makes sense. This is very difficult to convey, so here is more practical advise: EXAMPLE : In Fourrier Series (you dont have to know what it is ), there are three functions to remember. 1. A general one 2. One for even functions 3. One for uneven functions. Remembering all three can be a lot of data, but remembering the general one is pretty easy. So I just remember the original one and remember how to transform it into the other two. CONCLUSION : In your case, If you remember how and why complex numbers are *DIFFERENT* than real numbers, you should be good. I find it far easier to remember any transformation than any base data. My final advise would be to write everything you learn in your own words, reading from that makes it much easier to learn. You don't even have to have a system or organization or anything. Just everything you learn in your own words. If it's even a little difficult to understand, please reply: english is my third language.
