Well, it's been nearly 2 months and I had some new route changes I wanted to show off so I guess it's back to 100% UNM again earlier than I had in mind, though it's only 15 minutes faster than my previous time! I've also given up on any other challenge run I was doing for now, got too exhausting.. and I needed to beat my 2:25 any% unm time I did 3 months ago with 100%. Sub 2:20 is definitely possible, the real dream though is to see someone do sub 2:17:11, which is ByteMe's record time for Doom 2016, as eternal being faster than doom 2016 would be quite funny, getting close.
100% is all weapons upgraded, get all sentinel crystals, weapon points, tokens and collectibles, unlock everything in the fortress and get all codexe entries. This will leave you with 8 weapon points, 15 tokens, 4 batteries and no ??? in the codex at the end, which I confirm after the IoS.
My own additional restrictions:
- No intentional use of any major glitches (out of bounds stuff mainly).
- No scripts, macros or other cheats.
- No use of console (so no rebinding of jump to mousewheel).
- If a crash happens at low health when I'm in a dangerous position or I get a clear advantage from it my run is invalid, otherwise I don't care.
Here I actually crashed once on loading cultist base.

I run on version 1.0 instead of the latest patch. The current patch is 1.2, which is very unlikely to be the final version. I'll switch to current patch even if it's slower when the game is no longer being updated, as running on some intermidiate patch that's not the fastest is rather pointless, but I feel a category like 100% should be run on the latest patch. With version 1.2 there is a lot of time loss since the marauder ice bomb glitch is fixed, probably adds up to a couple of minutes at least. One can only hope they decide to allow us to skip the battery insertion animation in the fortress and thus make it a faster version one day.
My last 3 attempts:
1: Just as the Icon of Sin death cutscene was playing I thought "Alright, now to check... fuck, didn't I forget that elena log?", yes.. yes I did.
2: "Alright, the time is shit, but just kill the Icon of Sin and be done with it" I destroy 7 out of 8 body parts in the second phase and get killed by a lost soul about a meter away from the soulsphere.
3: This one.
When I started these last attempts I did have a few resets on Hell on Earth though, forgot an item on DHB and died once on ARC Complex as well, but otherwise my consistency is really good at the moment. Here slayer gate 3 should have been my first death on Super Gore Nest though, had a close call at the start of ARC Complex too. The 2 failed attempts I had before this one were between 2:28-2:29 RTA, so this was over 3 minutes faster (even with a crash), so that's nice.
Some changes I've come up with or adjustments:
- Fast travel on ARC Complex, skips the turret elevators.
- Fast travel on Urdak, skip the 30 seconds cutscene for the first ring + some smaller sections by the second secret encounter. Also use of BFG to clear out the first fight instead of the first secret encounter.
- Included use of the destroyer blade, because it's really good.
- Switched back to heat blast upgrades first since I can't be bothered to headshot stuff anymore.
And a lot of other smaller things.
A few comments about the run:
Slayer gate 1 was bad, gate 3 was abysmal, but gate 5 went well for once.
I think I lost the most time on ARC Complex.
Disappointed I failed the meathook skip at mars core for the first time.
Taras Nabad has a visual glitch if you go too far above the map by the second pain elemental.
Had to take a moment to think about which side I'm supposed to glory kill on Nekravol after failing the first one.
Had a small skip in mind after the tyrant arena on final sin, but I failed it twice.
I think I got every single marauder kill rather quickly.
That cutscene after the first baron on urdak, no idea what was up with that... lol.

like seriously I had a fucking hard time for the collectables, because 1) the fast travel message is so damn unnoticeable that I am not aware of it's the end of the level and 2) sometimes it's just no way to know which action is the end of mission trigger (how the fuck do I know I would end the mission if I push the skill switch or go through the portal) and ends up have to play the mission second time for the collectables. I didn't need to do it twice for cultist base only among the the first 5 missions
be grateful, you can finish one level on hurt me plenty in about 2 hours, for me it's the same on i'm too young to die, because i want to have fun and get everything without having to rape my keyboard, or worse glory kill it.

Holy cow anyone who's played through this game knows how hard these levels are. He smashed through them so fast its hard to see whats even going on and you can't appreciate some of the puzzles. Its like h has the whole game memorized and and can just run through it like going for a jog.

This is outrageous. Doom Eternal is a damn sight more challenging than its predecessor and is a decent challenge on Hurt Me Plenty, to see Zero Master dominate on Ultra-Nightmare so fluidly is like poetry. The platforming accuracy is outstanding, let alone the combat.

NM really is well done. I beat UV without much trouble and the jump to NM is Insane, but never feels unfair. It is Very rare that a task requires some one to try Literally as hard as they can, but NM demands nothing less. Despite that, it Never feels unfair. I died to an arena in mission 3 about 14 times, but every one I felt was me making a bad call. I know the rules and took a risk and paid for it, and that just makes me want another shot. And by the end, you're a better player for it. I highly recommend trying it.

@Jay marlin Same here. I also started off with a full campaign in Hurt Me Plenty. Played just one level on Ultra-violence, found it rather unsatisfying and then completed the campaign twice in Nightmare. Playing again in Nightmare now, with Extra Life mode turned on. Trying to see if I can reliably clear all levels without dying once, so as to try Ultra Nightmare. A casual gamer who's just looking for a challenge, but not something too difficult, would be utterly slaughtered on Nightmare. This game is among the most punishing shooters I've ever tried.
@Jay marlin Casuals might eventually have a chance of playing at nightmare if they have the time and motivation to actually work for it. But yeah, if they were to just go ahead unprepared, they'll end up getting squashed. I remember hearing Upper Echelon complaining that it was too hard even on Ultra-violence. As for the latter, I think games in the future should have a special 'game journalist' difficulty setting, complete with auto aim and auto-dodge.
@Jay marlin Yeah, Echelon's gameplay was pretty awful. I guess he was trying to get his review out as fast as possible. Regarding games journalists, they're a mixed lot. Some are pretty ok, but others... Whoever recorded that Doom 2016 gameplay on behalf of Polygon will probably find Eternal's lowest difficulty to be too hard. 🤣

Even if i could i would go that fast to me takes some of the fun out of it, sometimes after a fight i sit there appreciating the scenery because it looks awesome with all the work ID put into it.
zero master is the god of doom, so it would take him like two whole campaign saves and some practice of some long levels and then ultra nightmare

My guess is that he technically went out the map with that glory kill so to area unloaded.
He only got caught on one wall for that whole glitch, just kept on truckin', otherwise.

@@xxRetardGamingxx He uses it for basically every marauder fight except one of the last ones. He doesn't follow the freeze grenade with his shield like this anymore, he just dashes away now. That said, the pretty well known ssg, ballista + nade, ssg, remote detonator combo would still wipe a Marauder out almost as fast as you see here, which ZeroMaster does whenever he doesn't do the ice bomb exploit. You basically can stun lock him in his first attack.

Doom is a rare example of a game that was made just to be fun and not be bothered to have realistic features. No weapon reloading, no sprinting. Just pure fun and weapon juggling.

I will never be this good at anything. My mind boggles thinking about how many hours you must have spent memorising and learning every nook, cranny, and muscle twitch for this run. I don't usually watch speedruns and I have no idea who you are, but I just wanted you to know: I see you. I am in awe at how much effort must have gone into making a really hard game look so easy. I shudder to fathom how many times you must have played each level, and each section of each level, that you not only have such an intuitive understanding of enemy health that you won't even keep looking at them to confirm the kill, but you also seem to know exactly when and where everything spawns. I'm sure this is all pretty normal stuff in the speedrunning community, but as an outsider simply glimpsing this, it's like you're reading the matrix. By the time a bullet is fired you've already dodged it.

This is an absolute masterpiece walktrough ! I never saw someone moving and fighting with such precision and speed ! Maybe, only Quake, or idk, Titanfall 2 Masters can do something like that. This is just awesome !
ZeroMaster is actually a really old school speedrunner, he used to run 93 Doom and Doom 2. Pretty sure he still has some of the records too.

Hey man I'm new to DooM eternal but I've played doom since I was 12 when it first came out, kept seeing your name around the speed runs and its amazing to see the old games still getting the love they deserve while also being blessed FINALLY with a couple of recent belter doom titles from I. D. If all I had on my PC was DooM and Quake i'd be absolutely fine haha **Nice to see the guy accusing you of cheating deleted his comment!

your use of the destroyer blade is amazing, as well as your plasma rifle SMVR was using the plasma beam really well too, using weapons that most players pan or think are useless is fun to watch
I liked the effective use of full-auto in the early game. Super fast kills with a mod most people don’t ever use, especially that early when ammo is pretty scarce
