Utilization of ultrasound is critical when evaluating pregnant patients that present with pain or vaginal bleeding in the first trimester.
In this particular case the patient expects to be about 7 weeks pregnant but developed acute onset of pelvic pain. She appeared uncomfortable and had blood pressure of 105/68. She was otherwise healthy and was NOT taking any medications to assist in reproduction.
In the video we will see she had a complex right adnexal mass that with large amount of pelvic free fluid. These are very concerning findings in a pregnant patient and could represent a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
May you do carotid ultrasound for patients awaiting endarterectomy in the future please?
