The most-liked suggestion when I wake up tomorrow will be locked in for Sunday, because Friday is new music release day! Even if you are fluent in italian it might be quite hard to understand, he's talking in Roma's accent with a mix of dialect . it's like listening a scotish program.
The problem is not the accent:it's that he"eats his words". He doesn't speak clearely,whether he speaks in Italian or in roman dialect. And when I say"he"I mean"they"...I mean *ALL* the characters he dubs!😵
As a native from the north who barely had any interaction with people from Rome, I didn't find it that hard to understand. He might slur words together at times, but the context of the sentences makes even the details clear enough in my opinion
@@brodericksiz625 is not for us Italians that have been exposed to roman dialect in other ways . Half of our language is from roman variety because of fascism. I'm talking for all the English motherthongue that never heard another way of talking Italian . It's like listening to Scottish

I’m pretty sure the British dubber did all the voices as well but he just does a good job of making each voice different. I could tell because it really hit hard when you finally hear everyone’s “real” voice in the final episode
Italians are very proud of the author because he's the stereotypical roman guy and he was able to birth this masterpiece.

Man , I'm so happy that you reviewed this marvelous animated show ! Also I'm glad that it's translated in several languages so that everyone can enjoy it without being distracted by the subtitles . ZeroCalcare has been defined as one of the last Italian intellectuals , it's an hyperbole of course but I agree to some extent . If you can find some of his works translated in English please read them ; I've never found an author that speaks to my generation (I'm born in the early '80) like he does. Big hug from Italy ! Keep up the good work

Yeah it was a bit of a downer but I'd argue that it was also uplifting the way Alice retold the Prince Trip You Up story to the kids she volunteered with. How excited those kids were about the story and the life lesson that it told certainly made me feel as if some of the things I've said and done with friends and family had the same sort of impact at some point. But not explicitly knowing what that impact is, is okay as well. I'm probably rambling but overall I loved the show. EDIT: also I disagree about his anxiety about not being emotionally available and only able to help with tangible things. He was able to be there for his friends, when he could, and that's really all you can ask for in a friend. He couldn't be there sometimes but it seemed like Sarah and Secco were able to accept and fill in when Zero wasn't capable (ex. when he "ghosted" Alice). Based on how the show ends he seems to have accepted that later on down the line after reflection and Sarah telling him that people are complicated.

My suggestion is the culinary equivalent of the Northern Ireland conflict: mushy peas. They're green, divisive, and seem to have brutal consequences on some people...
Since the Good Fryery agreement, the green of the peas and the orange of the fish batter are committed to mostly peaceful co-existence
I'd like to see your review on Tick, Tick...Boom I personally am not a fan of John Larson's work of RENT, but this adaptation of his first off Broadway show really resonated with me. It really touches on some themes that I know you've talked about before from Inside and your vid on turning 30.
I had this same experience. I almost dislike RENT but Tic Tic Boom is something else.
I totally agree with you on seeing too much of myself in the show. At the end I was horrified!
Brilliant review. I loved hearing your delivery of the review hahahaha Its great to tear along the dotted line get some more love. The show digs into you and goes so hard. This one is gonna age so well. I think the show really benefits not just from rewatching but also watching in the original Italian as well as the English dub. It's relatively short so watching both versions isn't as daunting an ask as some other longer shows.

This, and maybe two other pieces of media have truly shaped and hit me
Chef’s Table - Volume 6 - Asma Khan. An autobiographic episode on Asma Khan. A woman who’s mother cried when she was born a second daughter and not a son. So Asma speaks of finding peace and purpose (through cooking) in spite of being unwanted due to the dowry system of her country. Where girls are only seen as a financial burden and second daughters or more as a financial bane to a family.
So you want something happy, eh? I'll split the difference and give you something absolutely heartwarming: Before Your Eyes, which is just one of the sweetest games I've played in recent memory. Its whole gimmick is that it uses your webcam to track your eye movements and every time you blink, you jump forward in time. I'd advise playing without this, though (and there is an option to), because having a prolonged staring contest with your monitor in order to see all the dialogue isn't exactly what you'd call fun. But the story is an absolute emotional rollercoaster, and it hits hard going in blind (i know, ironic given the game's name lol). Should take you around 2 hours to get through, and it's $10 on Steam right now.

To lighten things up (a bit) I’d like to recommend “Greener Grass” (2019). It’s such a unique film-not only due to its comedy and almost Lynchian tension building-but as a satire of Suburbia. Perhaps you’ve already seen it but either way I’d love to hear your thoughts!

My suggestion is the album "Moss Grew on the Swords and Plowshares Alike" by Kayo Dot. Even though the album has two collaborators (Guitar soloist and a lyricist), it was mostly recorded and performed by Toby Driver at his home. That means synths, guitars, drums, bass, vocals, mixing, everything by this one guy. The dude has an extensive catalog of music and has always struggled to find a wider audience for his music due to how "challenging" some of his music and how often he's jumping genres (prior to this album which is billed as a gothic doom metal record, the previous records were a melodramatic goth rock opera, synth based progressive rock, and 80s inspired blade runner music). Would be cool to see this album get some more attention regardless of whether or not the review is favorable. I just hope you don't find his music too obtuse on first listen.
I would like to see a review of the classic British film KES (1969)
You must know that this stuff is all inspired by real places and real things that happened to the author, it's not all just fiction.
My suggestion is The Empty Man horror movie.
I thought “The Empty Man” was original, ominous, existential and brilliantly made. So sadly overlooked

A very happy suggestion! I've already suggested it once but: Twisted: the story of a Royal Vizier by Starkid. It's a comedy musical retelling of Aladdin from Jafar's perspective, done by a very talented small theater company. It's pretty light hearted and fully available for free on KZhead.
It has really fun moments and songs but it's yet another trite Wicked wannabe "From the Villain's perspective" dribble, so I soured on it overtime.
You should talk about Alex Coville paintings.

My suggestion is the book The Devil’s Detective. I’m not an overtly religious person, barely being a loose Hellenic Polytheist but I love explorations within the concepts of religions. This one is about a man in Hell just trying to survive when he gets chosen duties to investigate the murder of other inhabitants in Hell, since Hell is supposed to be a place of long term punishment and not simply death. While it uses Angels and Demons, it really does keep to the classic noir detective genre and the ending, in my opinion, is a great revelation.
Im italian and i met zero in person, im so glad people oversea can appreciate some of our more “niche” works

I'm curious if TWIR has just kind of cultivated an audience of people who like depressing art? Anyway, recommendation for the day: I would love to see a review of the adorable late 90's lesbian rom-com "But I'm a Cheerleader" directed by Jamie Babbit. It is cute and sweet and what I watch when I am sad and alone at 4 am. Whatever winds up being picked I hope it is not too terribly taxing!

I don't think you're correct about the British dub not having the one man act, it seems like the exact same deal where he impersonates every character but the aramdillo (often very humorously poorly with the female characters) and then in the final episode when people suddenly have their own VA's it's still jarring as fuck. I mean hearing a girl actually sound like a girl and not a shitty impression or a robo voice in this universe is nuts. Great show, great review though!

I am confused, I bech the series, 'This world wants to tear me apart' witht he same characters, the same armadillo but with a complete different plot. With immigrants living in a building and nazi's wanting to get them off the neighborhood.

I live in northern Italy and still can’t understand a third of what he’s saying. He speaks too fast with too thick of an accent. The English equivalent would be a thick Australian accent speaking at his speed.
And I'm from Sardinia and I couldn't get into it either. Plus, Romaneschi stereotypes are WAY too overexposed in Italian media.

How about Isabella Rossellini's "Green p0rn0" next. It's a bunch of short films about how animals reproduce. She made a series called "Mammas" about the motherhood of animals too. Some are on youtube. Both are very fun and very weird. (In a good way, in my opinion.)
