Can't tell if he is being sarcastic or not 😂
I get it.
The eerie, long pause after "don't ever do this" has to be really hard to keep a straight face. :)
O I am sure for legal reasons he will maintain his "never do this..." stance.
He's completely kidding of course. Yes, some of these things are dangerous. Life is dangerous.
@@scififan698are you sure he’s kidding though? I cant tell
For over two decades I wasn't aware that you could change a drill without the tactical method. Now everyone will be waiting for me, thank you!
I've been letting my mates wait for at least 10 years now, and they're absolutely grateful. These techniques are awesome 👍
This series will become an instant classic - can’t wait for part 2
Love it
My cousin lost a limb for every "don't ever do that" procedure you so bravely illustrated. I'm headed to his house now to feed him. I wish you had uploaded this public safety tutorial about a month ago.
Sorry for his losses 😞
Sorry to hear your cousin lost all of his 5 arms and 8 legs.
How you kept a straight face through this I have no idea... but this was awesome. Thanks Jimmy!
Yeah not sure if he's serious or totally poking fun of safety videos, implying these things are actually ok to do? Either way, it's a Jimmy video so I'm watching it.
He had his attorney standing there, arms crossed with a stern look on his face.
The comment about Dad's jars full of loose nails really got me. Thanks for posting, and thumbs up.
Thank you, Jimmy, for risking your health and well-being to show us the right way to use these tools. You are a saint!
My old boss used to say, "it takes a real mechanic to work without all the tools". Jimmy demonstrates that concept brilliantly. Great video!
meanwhile somewhere in a boardroom of Dewalt and Sawstop corporate lawyers and CEO's are having strokes.
This might be the most Diresta video ever. You're right, I won't be using any of the techniques shown because I've only been a hobby maker and wood worker for 10 years. Its likely I'll never posses the confidence or competence to pull any of these tricks off. And that's okay. I continue to watch your videos for inspiration. Shop safety is the responsibility of the person in their shop. 👍
Safety is everyone's responsibility.
@@waltewhitesPhD Only in Communist countries, Karen.
@@Changtent wait wait wait. Did someone with the name Changtent just call me a communist Karen. Talk about calling the kettle black. 🤣🤣🤣
As an armchair woodworker with a keen eye for safety, I really appreciate you making this video to keep me safe.
Best response video addressing the Safety Sally troll's concerns, making the point with a multitude of examples.
What an incredible confidence in handling those tools in ways they were not supposed to be used!! 🤩🤩🤩
Hahahaha love how it gets progressively more and more chaotic and ironic Thank you for the years of safety videos Jimmy! 😂
I sincerely hope this really is episode one in a series. I loved every unique workaround that you demonstrated. Thank you!
Don’t do what I do, do as I say! Great words of wisdom Jimmy!
And for 45 years I have been sharpening my pencils all wrong! Great video, Jimmy!
This might be my favorite video, Jimmy! Trolling the trolls! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This might as well be called: “Shop hacks I really want to show you, but for legal reasons I don’t want to be responsible if you mess up” 😂
Bingo!
You have perfected the "sarcasm face". If you haven't developed a tingling sense in your neckbone telling you NOT to do something you might just accidentally cut your pinky finger off! (see now THAT's sarcasm!) I actually learned a few things in this video that i will never do!
I love how he shows us exactly how convenient and time saving some of these are😂😂
That’s so you’ll appreciate the extra hour you spent last weekend making an overly complicated jig for a single cut.
As someone who’s starting up in a shop hopefully this saves my left finger
I think that's the idea😂
@@coolbionicle lol exactly
KZhead must be so proud to have you show us the safety hazards!
I’ve been doing these things for years. I will stop! Thanks for caring about my family.
Thank you Jimmy for the Safety Tip updates. I have found myself using some of these ‘bad’ techniques. And now I “will never do this in my shop.”
Me neither, at all, I swear! Lol
Perfect visual display of "Do as I say not as I do" people often miss the interpretation and neglect the decades of experience required to perform such risky but sometimes necessary techniques to achieve the task at hand. Great video👍
And remember there is no more important satiety rule than to wear these... Safety Glasses!
Thank you Jimmy for showing me these unusable tips that I will never use in a situation where they would be very useful, much appreciated
Thank you for this Jimmy! I will never ever do any of these dangerous things. Thank you for demonstrating them to us so perfectly.
Pencil sharpening is not so easy on the table saw. You have to use a CNC for that. All the best and thank you for this safety advice
Pencils are sketch tools for sure
@@gosonegr for sure! They can be very sharp.
I almost definitely won't never, will not do any of the techniques seen in this video, thaaank you!
Much of this is genuinely tough to watch. I'm waiting for the axe to fall. I'm surprised that people do these things. They are counter to common sense. Thank you for this video.
I knew I shouldn't do some of these things. Thanks for showing me even more things I shouldn't do when my wife is around.
JD You are truly the Yoda of makers I'd never try those but I'm happy to sit quietly in awe of your skill brother
Excellent video Jimmy! I can see both the safety tips and your sense of humor watching this video. Kudos! Now I am more aware of things to think about not doing in my own shop! 👍👍🔨🔨
The Dead Pan stare after every thing we should never do makes me laugh so hard.
I didn’t know that “tactical bit changing” wasn’t the right way to do things. That’s the way I was taught as a child. 😂 Thanks Jimmy for helping me be more safe!
"That’s the way I was taught as a child." Who ever taught you that should clearly be put away for a long time. :-D
Same 😂
Definitely learned some new things on the chop saw I shouldn't do. Thanks Jimmy!
I just reminded myself about not cutting wide pieces that are shorter than the blade diameter on a table saw with the fence in place. Fired the workpiece across the shop and broke it in half on my bicep as it went by. Hadn’t seen that stupid shit since college, when someone did it with a sheet of lexan, and fired a piece through the metal shop vac behind them. I should be safe for another 20 years on this reminder! 😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing your safety tips and keeping us all safe.
i love it! the repeately demonstrating how useful the method is and not explaining why its dangerous. youtube gold right here!
Just remember kids, Jimi has a sacrificial clone for this.
Thank you for thinking of the children and keeping them all safe while using their miter saws.
Imagine if she see this now !?? Her #%^s will explode.
@@jimmydiresta you live in her head rent free, she definitely hate watches you 😂
Excellent advice Jimmy, I will totally make sure to never attempt any of these crazy stunts, just to save time. Thank you for putting yourself in danger to teach... a true master.
Thanks Jimmy, I now have loads more ideas on how not to do things. Great Video 👍😁
Just what my wife needs to see 🤦🏼♂️ thanks Jimmy
I really appreciate this -- especially the long pauses that really let each lesson fully sink in before moving on to the next
You're the man Jimmy. I love you man! I can't count how many times you come up in my head while I work. LEGEND!
Greatest safety video of 2023 !
ALWAYS back-up your circular saw cuts with a cast iron surface.
An old friend of mine once said that the foundation of all art is in the misuse of technology, and I would certainly agree that the way Jimmy uses these tools approaches an artform!
Oh Jimmy my “one way friend”, I LOVE you. You brought so much joy to my morning with your humor. I have been watching your videos for YEARS. This morning’s is my new favorite. Great techniques I vow I won’t use… unless, of course I need the outcome that doing it will produce. My favorite part is after the groove demo how you drag the circular saw off the table.
🤘🏼🤘🏼💪🏼💪🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
It is sooo nice of you to tell us what not to do!! 😂 I hope it becomes, as Dave said on the podcast, a "1 million views video" !!
I've used all these shortcuts at one time or another except the nail gun one. Nail guns are unpredictable tools and I've seen more injuries with them over all other wood working tools in my lifetime. Nails shot into feet, hands and legs I've seen it all. Looking forward to the old house episodes. Cheers 🇨🇦
In Canada.
@@jong2359 funny guy. How many years have you been a working carpenter? Me, 50 years and only nailed my boot, not my foot, to a roof truss once! Haha
I love your art Jimmy! Keep making! Thank you.
Thank you Jimmy for showing us all the dangerous things not to do in the shop .
Love the blank stare 😂😂
Never put some wood in the lathe and use a circular saw hovering over the part to remove the bulk of the wood :D
Yep. Don’t do that.
SO MANY IDEAS TO TRY! THANKS!
This is the best video!! Thank you for making great content! The drill was the best because I could tell it took everything in you to not tighten/loosen the chuck normally.
😂😂😂
I love when you antagonize the trolls.
I see Jimmy is angry with the safety police again.
I will try to remember these safety tips to assure I do the right thing when the opportunity arises. Thanks, Jimmy!
Thank you for risking life and limb to show us how needed tasks should never be done for fear or hurting ourselves. 🤨
Thank you for ensuring shop safety, I will be sure not to try any of the unsafe methods.
Just proves that Jimmy watches out for the children. Great tips. I will definitely not do any of these when I am in the shop. I'll just use my CNC instead so I can sit around and push buttons all day from a safe distance. Thanks, Jimmy!
That was by far the best shop safety video I've ever seen. Thank you!
The best ever episode - the reason I want a table saw for my workshop is so I don't cut circles or curves in wood! I'd never dream of doing that!
It would be nice if other KZheadrs could follow your lead as well, Jimmy, and share these vital and essential safety practices with us to keep more of us up-and-coming creators and makers safe in the workshop. 🤣Thank you so much for putting yourself in harm's way and taking the time out of your day to put this MUST-SEE video together and share it with us. I found the content invaluable for future reference. I especially liked how you show so much concern and compassion for your fan's well-being and safety. It is what makes you a cut above the rest. The GOAT. As always Love and Respect from North London UK. 😁👍🏻
Just ordered my CNC machine so that I don't have to do that unsafe thing with the circular saw. Caught this video just in time.
This might be my favorite Jimmy Diresta video ever! These came straight from comments in his videos over the years. This is a brilliant response and I loved every second of it! I couldn't help laughing with each long pause!
Jimmy you're the best. Thank you for risking your life showing what not to do in the shop.
Thank you, Jimmy. I’m now able to accomplish much more in good time being reckless and dangerous. You had me going for a few seconds. Keep it up.
Great advice! I've not been doing any of those things for nearly 25 years, and I've still got most of my fingers.
Thank you for sane approach during these insane times! :)
This is the safest video on KZhead. So safe, even the safety police didn't visit the comment section like they usually do. Keep up the good work on making the world a safer place by risking your own life and limb showing us what not to do. And remember: Heroes shouldn't wear capes around power tools.
The sarcasm is strong with this one.
Aside from the mastery of these tools and techniques, the ability to keep a straight face all throughout is amazing.
Thank you so much for that video.. a couple of those things I've been doing for years in my shop and now I know not to. Great video.. keep em comin
Putting a groove in a piece of wood with a circular saw is just ingenious and I will NEVER! steal that idea and use it. Never! And apparently I've been changing my bits in a drill the dangerous way forever. Thank you for showing me what I've been doing so dangerously all these years. You're a saint!
Thanks Jimmy. Loved it😊
🙌🏼💪🏼❤️
Fabulous! Greatly stimulating video, not thinking is the most dangerous thing in the world & always should be done. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome things to try, thanks Jimmy!
my favorite format for a tips video yet. thanks jimmy!
Thanks Jimmy ❤
Thank you for saving my life !!! I was thinking of doing these things and now I know to never ever do them. I will be forever safe in my shop now.😂😂. Awesome video as always!
Sure, things like this work well for experienced woodworkers. Until the one time when they don't work. And then things go really down the river FAST. Just had an uncle die after wounding himself on an angle grinder, didn't make it back to a phone or other help. He had 65 years of metal working experience. Was both good AND confident.
We must all be responsible for our own safety. If it feels uncomfortable find a safer way.
I grew up on construction sites I guess I was only taught how not to do things. Great video, I'm looking forward to part 2.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love this! The level of sarcasm is legendary! How you managed to do this with a straight face is beyond me!!
Looks more like an instructional video too me. Thanks Jimmy as always keep up the good work.
Especially, don't sharpen your pencil on a table saw while everyone on the job site waits! Good video Jimmy. Tongue in cheek but gets the point across.
I’m going to try a chop saw to nibble the corners off a pencil. He didn’t show us that one so I guess it’s ok.
It seems perfectly safe!@@scottcampbell96
Best video ever! Thanks for the tips!
This could be your most viewed video by the time it's all said and done!!! Love it!!
On behalf of every person who has ever posted a woodworking video on KZhead, thank you.
You make the best videos, thanks for all you do.
He is teaching me creative ways to use my tools. Thank’s!
you are the master, great video thanks, you have a great respect for all those machines.
Very funny and yet informative. I’ll admit I’ve never thought of doing some of those techniques but you make it look easy. Thanks
Great tips and tricks - can't wait to try them 😁😁
I can't tell if these are actually great and fantastic tips. Or dangerous things we shouldn't be doing. Diresta is so great and fantastic in the shop that nothing looks dangerous when he does it.
