Lyrics:
It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone, I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing
I said nothing can take away these blues
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby, where did I go wrong?
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you
I went to the doctor, guess what he told me
Guess what he told me
He said, "Girl you better try to have fun, no matter what you do"
But he's a fool
'Cause nothing compares,
nothing compares to you
All the flowers that you planted mama
In the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

  • My wife would sing and play guitar to our cat Charlie, and he loved it. He just loved all attention on him. He was our spirit animal. The night before we put him down (age 16 with kidney failure), she played this song for him. He perked up a little for the first time in a couple of days. The next day after he had passed, this damn song came on the radio (I don't normally hear it on the radio), and we just sobbed.

  • The fact that she remains the only artist to refuse a Grammy award til date is honestly empowering. She stated that music was supposed to help people and not to draw attention to the artist. • @@cyborgdurden5720 Context is everything and her comments were in relation to a choice of being colonised by Britain or effectively being colonised by the Catholic Church. If someone asks you if you would prefer a dead arm or a kick in the balls, choosing a dead arm does not by default mean you think that is a good thing and only the least worst option. All religion is nonsense anyway, so I am with you on not understanding why she chose to convert to Islam, but totally understand why she left the Catholic Church, And I say that as an atheist with a mind of my own, despite being christened as a Catholic via the choice of my parents.

    • Prince wrote this song. I think everyone is simply reminded of when Sinead & Prince fought. Sinead O’Connor & Prince - The Fight They Had In Los Angeles This is from Far Out Magazine in 2021. While most young and impressionable singers would likely do anything to impress Prince, O’Connor has always been an outlier, and her fiery Irish nature stops her from being submissive. “We tried to beat each other up,” O’Connor told Good Morning Britain in 2019. “This is not a joke, it was a really frightening experience. It was in LA, he summoned me to his house and foolishly I went along. He was uncomfortable that I wasn’t his protégé and he wanted me to be. He was wanting me to be a protégé of his and ordered that I don’t swear in my interviews. I told him where he could go”. According to O’Connor, the mood changed after this comment, and then the situation descended into violence: “He went upstairs and got a pillow and he had something hard in the pillow. I ran out of his house, hiding behind a tree,” she claimed. “We meet on the highway in Malibu at five in the morning - I’m spitting at him, he’s trying to punch me. I had to go ring someone’s doorbell, which my father always told me to do if I was in a situation like that”.

  • I remember being in my sophomore year of high school, and picking up a CD of an unknown artist named Sinead O’Connor. I stared at the CD case for so many hours. Her eyes were hypnotic and was a classic, natural, beauty. Yet, she as punk rock and rebellious as they come. I had never heard anything like her, and I thought she was so talented with a powerful voice, and even more powerful lyrics. She did not fit the pop princess type and certainly never tried to be that. She often spoke about injustices and was marked for it. Consequently, record labels did not want to represent her. I admired her tenacity in the causes that were important to her. She was one of the few people that were so outspoken to talk about all the sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. I was so incredibly sad to hear of her passing. She had many struggles throughout her life, especially losing her beloved son, Shane last year. I’m afraid that she never was able to get over that. Rest in peace beautiful Sinead. I hope you and Shane are together now ❤

  • I worked with Sinead on a radio broadcast in 1991. She was quietly fierce, unashamedly challenging and perfectly imperfect as an interviewee.....and just breathtakingly beautiful! The resulting programme and the photo we took at the end of the night with Sinead and our crew both showed that she was an incredible artist, disrupter and woman. RIP Sinead - hope your tortured soul is now at peace, reunited with your darling Shane.

    • You know it's not right to dismiss mental illness as "perfectly imperfect" especially when it impacts children. There's nothing shameful about being mentally ill and that's exactly why people should get help for it like any other condition. How can they do so when people pretend there's nothing wrong?

    • Hard hard hard line to tow, to speak up against evil. She refused to be silenced for that she payed…but the cost of not speaking up is death. She did as Christ did…I pray she at one time believed that God is a good God, a God that so loved the world that he gave his only son to die on the cross for all our sins and to DEFEAT evil. May she be with the angels now…for she was a saint for the ‘least of these’. God be with her family may they know His comfort as they mourn. 🙏👆🏼♥️
